1. I love the fact that today’s date is 1/23. Then again, I am weird about numbers sometimes.
2. I did some shopping recently! Thanks to some gift cards from Christmas and a birthday coupon, I picked up a few tops from Express…

I was actually going in hopes of buying some dress pants or jeans but, unfortunately, I am smack dab in the middle of sizes right now and it blows. I’m not buying smaller because I don’t anticipate getting much smaller, but I don’t want to buy bigger and have them stretch. SO…leggings, for the win!
3. Speaking of leggings…my local newspaper has a blog that recently posted an article the other day, which was piggybacking off of another post about women wearing leggings. Some people got all up in arms about the question even being posed, and there has been quite a discussion on the topic of leggings and yoga pants. I thought some of the answers were quite interesting to read, but I (personally) have no problems with leggings as long as they a) cover your rear end and crotch, and b) are thick enough so we don’t see anything. Other than that, I stand by my last statement…leggings, for the win!
And in case you’re curious, my #1 favorite pair lately is from LoveSurf (they even surpass my HUE leggings, which I still do love quite a bit!)
4. And speaking of not getting any smaller…let’s just say it’s definitely not gonna happen when we’ve been buying half gallon after half gallon of Stewart’s chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. This is, hands down, my absolute favorite ice cream on the planet.
And we just. can’t. stop.
5. I had plans on Wednesday evening to meet up with some of my college girlfriends for happy hour and dinner and it was such a great time! We hardly ever get the chance to get together anymore (the last time we got together was for Eileen’s wedding), so we spent almost 3 hours catching up. Unfortunately, that also meant I didn’t get the chance to see Lucas that day, so I was greeted with some texts from him and his dad.
Love those two boys.
6. Earlier in the week, I treated myself to a little Starbucks skinny iced caramel macchiato. It had been forever since I’d last had one and it really hit the spot.
7. You guys want to know one thing I really hate spending money on? Socks.
I was in need of a few pairs of warmer ones to wear with my boots and when it came down to buying them, I almost talked myself out of it, like, three different times. I don’t know what it is…just one of those things, I suppose!
8. I guess we could say that these are similar to socks, but I really didn’t mind buying them…I finally caved and bought a pair of boot socks/leg warmers
I found them for a steal on Zulily a couple of weeks ago, and I’d say I’m definitely a fan. Now I just need to find a pair of cute grey ones and I’ll be good to go. Anyone else into the leg warmers look??
9. Lately, I’ve been taking the extra time to buy blocks of cheese and shred them myself as opposed to buying the bags of shredded cheese, and I’ve gotta say…you can really notice a difference.
I’m sure it’s not a habit I’ll be able to stick to all the time (the bagged shredded stuff is just so convenient!), but I’m totally loving it.
10. We have breakfast club at work today, and word on the street is that one my co-workers is going to be making a caramelized banana french toast casserole with a boozy bourbon sauce to go on top. Ummm, let’s just say that productivity later this morning may be a bit on the low side…
That’s all I’ve got for ya today, my friends! Happy FRIDAY to you all, have a fabulous day, and a wonderful weekend ahead, whatever you may be doing.
Let me know if you ever find a pair of dress pants that fit. I cannot for the life of mefind any! I am so lucky that my office is laid back on the whole otherwise i would be in a pencil skirt every darn day.
I’d wear leggings every day if I could…would love a few more pairs of lululemons..the ultimate legging but so damn expensive!
i’m ALL about leggings!!!! i’ve lost so much weight since having my baby and nursing (no complaints!) that none of my pants fit me…. however, i’m slightly worried that after nursing i’ll put back on a few pounds (totally fine), so i’m reluctant to buy pants right now…. so for me too, leggings for the win!!
There was an article I saw that said schools were going to ban leggings for girls! I wear them all the time but agree with the “cover the crotch and butt rule” problem is (I’m a teacher) some middle and high school girls wear them as pants and sometimes you can see right through to their underwear! Some girls don’t even realize some “leggings” they’re wearing are actually tights.
When did Lucas turn into such a grown-up? I mean, he can take a better selfie than I can!
Honestly, I feel like I sometimes live in leggings. There is just nothing more comfortable than them! When someone finds a pair of comfortable dress pants or jeans, please let me know :)
It’s also so funny because I actually love buy socks! I’m always on the lookout for cute socks hahah
You’re boys are adorable! Enjoy your weekend!
I’m with you … leggings for the win. I don’t wear them as often as I’d like (I’m usually in dress pants for work) but they are extremely comfortable and perfect for when you’re in between sizes. Speaking of which, I feel ya on that issue. My suggestion (and what I do all the time) is to buy the larger size and just put the jeans in the dryer to shrink them up. It seems to be working for me right now … some jeans just don’t hold their shape very well and need that drying time.
Love to hear about your love for Stewart’s ice cream! Stewart’s is a staple in upstate New York – my fiance and I stop there quite frequently for things, and they do have some delicious ice cream. :)
Oh man, I love leggings!! I’ve honestly never been a huge fan of jeans bc they aren’t that comfortable….but leggings (well jeggings to be more specific) are amazing! Happy weekend to you!
I am with you – leggings are totally acceptable as long as behind cover up their behinds. Cute socks – I am not a huge fan of spending money on them either, but once I do I’m like, why didn’t I do this sooner? Have a great weekend!
That’s the pits about being in between sizes. I know that’s going to be me for a while I’m sure because of baby weight! I still support the ice cream habit, though ;)
I also hate spending money on socks so much that I don’t even buy them… All my socks are gifts (from my mom)!
Bring on the leggings as long as they are thick and cover the rear! However, I do believe there is a time and place to wear them.
Socks are just not interesting enough to get excited about buying them! And most of the time no one sees them anyway… Although, I do love having really good running socks because it makes a huge difference :)
I love that selfie of your boys, too cute. I am positing a similar one later today of mine. It’s cute that dad can get our little on to make the same face as him. Have a great Friday and relax…we are eating ice cream over here as well EVERY night!
LOVE that picture of your sweet boys!! So, so cute!
There’s some kind of cellulose on pre-shredded cheese that keeps it from sticking together in clumps, and it’s totally noticeable in stuff like homemade mac and cheese. I usually only use it for tacos, or whatever you just sprinkle of the top of food, but for sauces, I’m all about the blocks of cheese.
And that pic of Jay and Lucas is so stinking cute!
I recently bought leg warmers from Grace & Lace that are a khaki with mint ombre on them. I’ve been waiting for them to go on sale and they finally did on Monday! We’ll see how they look since they were an “as is” sale and are supposed to have some imperfections. Totally with you on the socks thing!
I’m totally with you on the leggings debate. I love them, they’re comfortable and I wear them in a very appropriate way, so I don’t think I deserve any “those aren’t pants” backlash. Yeah, I know they’re not real “pants”, that’s why I’m not wearing them! I hate pants! :)
Have you tried the Stewarts dark chocolate ice cream? Oh man, that stuff is great! Plus, with it being so intense you don’t really need a lot of it to satisfy a good chocolate craving. Even my daughters love it — which is kind of a bummer since i would prefer to have it ALL to myself :)
I’m all about leggings during the cooler months! And hey, if they’re thick enough, I could care less if my top covers my butt (but only for lounging or exercising). In my opinion, it’s not any different than wearing tight workout capris. ;)
I adore that photo of Lucas and Jay! Lucas’s little face is too cute.
We buy the blocks of cheese and shred it ourselves every once in awhile too. It sure does taste a lot fresher, and it’s cheaper! But yes, the convenience of shredded cheese wins more times than not.
Not sure if someone mentioned this, but the preshredded cheese actually has powdered milk on it so when you’re melting it into a cheese sauce or quesadilla, etc. it doesn’t melt as well as the block you shred yourself.
I’m also addicted to Stewart’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough! Ugh. Huge weakness.
I’m a fan of leggings, but I agree that women need to wear a longer top over them, if they are going to work as pants. Breakfast club sounds like a fun ritual at work. Hope you have a great weekend:)
I am SO with you on the leggings criteria! I don’t like seeing people wear leggings with shirts that don’t cover their booty and crotch– especially younger girls!!! I’m guess I’m sensitive about it since I have an 11 year old daughter and another daughter on the way in March and when I see these girls walking in to my work with their booty hanging out—- no bueno.
BUT– wear a shirt long enough and I say GO FOR IT!
I am also a freak when it comes to numbers! Me and my dad always get a good nerdy chuckle out of fun dates. I used to have issues with the volume being on an odd number, but I’ve grown out of that.
Couldn’t agree more with you on leggings-not pants! At least, not in the traditional sense where it’s okay to show your rear, crotch, tuck in a shirt, etc. They’re closer to tights.
Adorable picture of your two guys.
We’re big fans of shredding our own cheese, especially a wicked shahhhp cheddah ;-) Unless it’s mozz. Then, we either buy the shredded or buy the fresh, which is hard to shred. Have a great weekend!
Breakfast Club sounds like such a fun idea… we should do that at my work!
Also block cheese vs. shredded cheese- you’re so right. They add some coating to the shredded cheese, so I think that’s why!
And… now I want ice cream. Happy Friday!
Leggings AND leg warmers all the way!!! I’ve recently adopted leg warmers into my training wardrobe and LOVE them. They look great, and keep me warmer in these freezing months.
And yes, boot socks are another huge addiction. They just add a little more interest to an outfit (I think).
Have a great weekend!!
I think it’s SO strange that people declare that it’s not okay for others to wear leggings. I agree that the butt/crotch/underwear should be hidden, but if that’s true, then who cares? The controversy is just so weird to me.
I agree about cheese – shredding it yourself is way better, and you get more for your money!
I’m with you on the cheese – I never buy bagged anymore BUT I also shred my cheese using this (http://www.amazon.com/Presto-02910-Shooter-Electric-Shredder/dp/B00006IV0R) and yes I know it sounds totally old school to have a ‘salad shooter’ but it shreds cheese in like 30 seconds. I use this thing weekly AND it’s pretty cheap :)
I COMPLETELY agree with you about the cheese thing. There is something just different about the pre-shredded cheese. It smells different. Tastes fine, but there’s just something not right about it. I’m with ya!
That ice cream looks absolutely amazing!
I actually love buying socks, but the problem is my obsession is for Smartwool, which are pretty pricey. They are definitely worth it but I have spent a small fortune on them!
I love that leg warmers are back! They’re so functional but really cute too. I’ve been on an ice cream kick too — such a weird craving for winter but I’m just going with it!
As a numbers girl you will appreciate this:
My oldest daughters birth date is 10/09/01…10-09=01
My youngest daughters birth date is 02/03/04.
Neither planned that way, just completely coincidental.
:)
Gahhhh, LOVE it! ;)
I ALWAYS grate my own cheese. Ever since i found out they add cornstarch to the preshredded stuff. As you know know – tastes way better too! Keep it in the freezer in small one pint freezer bags and you’ re good to go!
