1. Yesterday was a fabulous day. Every year, I try to take a day off from work around my birthday so I can have a bit of a “me” day. I was a couple of weeks behind schedule, but it was totally worth the wait. Highlights included in semi-sleeping in (until just before 7am), a quiet breakfast at home, a mid-morning PiYo workout, a late morning deep tissue massage…
A post-massage trip to Trader Joe’s…
A little salad action, courtesy of the Trader himself (this one was good but seriously lacking in chicken)…
An afternoon pedicure + iced coffee from Dunkin’…
And the rest of my afternoon and evening spent with my favorite little guy in the whole entire world.
He recently re-discovered his Boppy pillow and is sort of obsessed with it right now. Right along with lining up his cars and “counting” them…
It was a wonderful day, to say the least, and I’m now pretty sure that this is the longest fun fact ever on record.
2. I was *this close* to impulse buying a spiral vegetable slicer yesterday. I feel like every time I turn around lately, I’m seeing all of these beautiful, yummy looking “noodles” made from veggies and I kinda want to try this thing out! I almost bought this one, but it seems a little large(?). Do any of you own a spiralizer? Have any recommendations on a good one (or if it’s even worth buying)?
3. We’re huge fans of Bath and Body Works soaps over here. I bought this Crisp Morning Air scent a while back but just opened it recently, and I am in LOVE with it.
Unfortunately, when I checked out their site, it doesn’t look like it’s available anymore (bought it a couple of months ago) but it does look like they have some amazing spring scents available and they’re having some great sales right now, too!
4. Have you guys noticed a lack of “fashion” posts lately? Yeah, well that’s due to the fact that our (already crappy) full-length mirror ended up falling and shattering all over our bedroom floor a couple of weeks ago. Yes, that was a fun morning. Note to self: go pick up a new mirror this weekend.
5. While at home on Monday on our “snow day,” I discovered that Lucas apparently has more skills than I realized…
I left the room for less than a minute to grab his milk from the kitchen and start hearing “Maaaa! Maaaa!” so I come in to see this. Ayyy yi yi.
6. While on my typical lunch hour Target trip earlier this week, I ended up purchasing a couple new tops for myself. I bought this one (in blue), for something that could work with both dress pants or jeans, and this one (in peach) as a casual sweater that could be dressed up or down. I am so in love with both of them that I seriously want to buy each of them in every single color. Loooooove!
7. Get this…there’s a guy that makes BBQ Bacon Sushi. While I eat all of the items within the sushi, I still can’t decide how I feel about it. Even though I’m sure it’s probably more delicious than I’d ever imagine. What do ya think…would you try it??
8. I can’t tell you how many random photos I wind up finding on my phone like this one…
And I’ll give you one hint…I’m not the one taking them.
9. I have been on a serious PiYo kick this week.
Yesterday I did the “Drench” video and, seriously, she’s not kidding…
It’s the longest video (I believe) at just under 50 minutes and, wow. Just…wow. Love it.
10. Earlier this week (or maybe it was last week?) I came across this article on Huffington Post and loved it: 10 ‘Lame’ Things That Are Awesome When You’re An Adult. Especially 2, 4, and 5. Anyone else??
Alright, my friends. That’s all I’ve got for you today! I hope you all have a fabulous weekend (whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day or not) and for those of you fellow northerners…stay warm!
Veggie noodles are seriously everywhere! I actually just bought the paderno one for my friend for her birthday and she loves it! I live in a small studio apartment and just didn’t have room so picked up this one and think it works really well! You can only use zucchini, squash and carrots (but 98% of the time I’m making the zucchini! so good.)

Massages are my absolute favorite! Good for you for treating yourself! I’ve been wanting to try PiYo workouts, but just can’t seem to bite the bullet and make the purchase. Speaking of purchases, I can’t think of a time I’ve been in Target and haven’t impule-bought something! :-)
i have that exact spiralizer and i can tell you it does work really large! i keep it stored in the box in the pantry and it is a bit big so i probably don’t take it out as often as i would if it fit in a drawer or something… i actually have one of those tiny spiralizers too but the big one is nice because it takes no effort as you just crank the veggie through. and that sounds like an AMAZING day of pampering!! i’m supposed to be getting my hair colored this weekend which i’m way overdue for!
I love my spiral slicer! We had so much zucchini and yellow squash in our garden this year, so it was perfect. Mine is a bit small though, because regular to larger zucchini barely fit.
Target tops are the best!
Can you do a PiYo review? I really want to try it out, but I am afraid it’ll be too easy. I love to run (3 miles no more! Lol), HIIT training, and lifting weights, so I have been reluctant to order it.
Love the article! Organizing and fresh produce are seriously the best!
I’ll have to see what I can come up with! Since I don’t follow their recommended schedule, I’m not sure how my review would be, but I will absolutely say that there are videos that are totally a challenge!
Although it probably takes a little longer, instead of a spiralizer I just use a julienne peeler. I find it works really well. I especially like that it’s not another “appliance” taking up room in my (already crowded) kitchen!
You could have stopped at number one, wow!! What a great day! My husband asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I said, “a nice, relaxing day with my favorite things and people.” Does that make me old or wise? Ha!
Sounds like you had a great day off :). I need to schedule in days like that for myself every once in a while … I forget how refreshing they can be.
I think I’m going to have to get myself into Target soon – love those tops you just bought. I love browsing the clothing department at Target – I always seem to find something I love and I’m thankful their prices are so reasonable.
I bought a veggie noodle maker a couple months ago and use it about once a week. However, I don’t remember the brand and it doesn’t say on the tool itself. It is so easy to use and there are many, many recipes on the internet on how to make different dishes with them! You can use practically any vegetable (zucchini, squash, sweet potato, carrot, etc.) so if you’re cooking for others, you are sure to please them!
I have that exact spiralizer (I got mine from World Market) and I really really like it. I don’t think it’s too big, and it works wonderfully! I also love it because it’s super easy to clean and use. I was surprised of how much I loved zucchini noodles and even my veggie hater husband was a fan. I def think it’s worth the purchase!
I got the Veggetti Spiralizer (As Seen on TV!) from Walgreens. I probably should’ve gotten the nicer one from Amazon (with a little handle and everything), but this does the trick. It makes Zoodles really well (though, I was left with a little tree-shaped piece of Zucchini). Zoodles are tasty. :-)
I have the vegetti too and love it! I got it from amazon for like $12. It’s small enough to fit in the drawer with my other kitchen utensils which I love.
Sounds like a fun day!
I got the Veggetti as a bday present this year and I love it.

what a fun day! I really don’t think it gets any better than a massage, Trader Joe’s, and a pedicure. So fun! #dreamday
Yea, the BBQ Bacon sushi looks a little sketchy to me! It might taste good, but doesn’t sounds very appealing.
I love that you treat yourself for your birthday! I am hoping to be able to do the same next month for mine! A massage sounds amazing.
I’ve had my eye on a spiralizer too! I think that once summer comes around I’ll end up getting one – for the amount of veggies I eat, it definitely makes sense and would help change up my normal grilling/roasting! Hope you guys have a good weekend with your little lovebug. :)
I live my GEFU spirelli spiralizer! It’s great and smaller if you aren’t sure how much you’ll use it. It’s a great starter one.
I really need to get on the PiYo train. I love both yoga and pilates, so seems to be the best of both worlds. Also, that shattered mirror on a busy morning? Sounds like my worst nightmare lol.
Ive been contemplating a spiralizer for awhile now, a friend just bought The Veggeti one and loves it!
AH! Your day off sounds wonderful :) Have a great weekend!
I got this veggie spriralizer..it’s super cheap and small – so easy to store and clean up! And it works great!

I just love those target blouses. I love the idea of taking a “me” day to celebrate another year. Sounds like you had a fabulous day!
That’s why I hardly ever shop at B&BW anymore because they always get rid of everything I love! Makes me so mad, so I never want to love anything again from there. haha. Do you just put PiYo videos in your laptop and play them, or do you get them from free off YouTube? If so, do you recommend any specific person to search for and find some good ones to try out? Thanks Courtney! #jealousofyourmeday
Hey Courtney! You are making me want to go to Target during my lunch break – I was just there last night!!
I have this spiralizer: http://www.amazon.com/Spiral-Slicer-Spiralizer-Complete-Bundle/dp/B00J19AR7W/ref=sr_1_4?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1423841228&sr=1-4&keywords=spiralizer
Nothing fancy but it gets the job done making zoodles! And it is not big.
Your “me” day sounds lovely – what an excellent idea! And I love those tops. Target is the best :)
I have the paderno and i use it all the time. Sweet potato noodles are the best~!!!!!
Check out the inspiraralized blog. It totally transforms veggies and it VERY kid friendly!!!!!
Best easiest meal is a fried egg on top of sweet potato noodles with alittle bit of coconut oil. Yum. Need it now.
i took a day off last week and had a massage — the best!
Having a day to yourself sounds great! I’m sooooo pumped that I have a hair appointment tomorrow. It’s kind of my Valentine’s gift to myself since the hubby and I don’t really celebrate the holiday.
I love PiYo and that yoga mat!
A massage and a pedi in one day? Now that’s fabulous!! Happy Friday, Courtney! :)
What a fun treat yo self day! I need one of those!
farmer’s markets and a hangover free weekend = the bestttt!!
Veggie noodes are everywhere – you are right on that one. I am in desperate need of a spiralizer too. So glad you enjoyed your day off!
I just started using my spiralizer and I love it! Here’s my review: http://chelseaeatstreats.com/wiaw-91-how-to-use-a-spiralizer/
I love my Veggetti vegetable spiralizer. I actually was given it as a gift and got another gift of a generic version of one and they both work fine!
I definitely would not be a fan of bbq bacon sushi. (I hate bacon) but even if it was JUST bbq sushi…no…I can’t fathom!
I have a Paderno tri blade and I love it! I still need to learn more recipes to make other than curly sweet potato fries..:then again what else do you need?
I have that spiralizer! I actually bought it on impulse, too! I used to have a handheld one, and this one takes up more room but works SO much faster. It also has a bunch of different attachments for juicing and a mandoline slicer.
