1. Jay had to work late one day this past week, so I decided to bring the boys out for a little treat of dinner at Five Guys. Healthy, shmealthy.
One thing I did learn quickly, though…don’t get the milkshake until AFTER they eat the actual food. Total rookie mistake on that one.
2. For my fellow readers who are around the same age as me…Why I Loved Being a Teen in the 90s. Brings back so many great memories, and MAN, sometimes I really do miss the simplicity we had back then.
3. On Monday, I finally booked a procedure for the varicose veins in my legs. I’ve been going back and forth on doing it for over a year now, and was thrilled to find out that the procedure I’m getting is finally identified by insurance (I say “identified” because we’re still not totally sure how much coverage it is). I’m sort of nervous, but looking forward to hopefully seeing some good results and not feeling like my one leg is so heavy all the time. I’ll be sure to share how everything goes!
4. I posted this on my IG stories earlier this week, but really…
Is there really anything better? I have no control over Samoas.
5. I’m curious…how many of you out there do split workouts? (i.e., split upper body/lower body). What does your workout routine look like? Tell me alllll about it, because it’s been intriguing me lately!
6. Will you guys please tell me I’m not the only one who has a camera roll that looks something like this, and that you also have a hard time trying to delete all but one of about a dozen pictures that are all basically the same???
I mean, how do you choose? ; )
7. I recently bought this two pack of throw blankets in aqua (use code SAVE60 to get them for a steal!) for our couches and I am in LOVE with how perfect of a match they are!
Heads up though, when they first arrived they really smelled horrible, but after a quick wash it was much better.
8. We got our official letter for Lucas’s kindergarten screening (for next month) and I’m still over here in disbelief. HOW?! I already tear up now just thinking about September…good grief, I’m going to be a disaster.
9. I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a new Fitbit. I have an older Fitbit Charge, but it’s a little more bulky than I’d like, so I’m looking into the Fitbit Alta HR, which I then want to dress up with a replacement band like this one. Functional and nice enough to go with everyday outfits! So do any of you own the Fitbit Alta HR? Do you love it? Hate it? Honestly, I really just want this type of tracker, but no such luck yet…
Maybe one of these days. ; )
Alright, I’m off for today! I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend ahead, whatever you may be doing <3

I took my kids to Chick Fila one day and waited til the end, ordered myself a milkshake, and successfully hid it until I got it in the freezer for later, lol. I wasn’t about to let the kids intrude on my milkshake, lol. I have the Fitbit Charge + HR. My mom has the alta. I will say that she had a Garmin before and that let you look back on text messages you may have missed, whereas the Fitbit you can only see the message when it comes in and not again. I’m currently doing the BBG workouts but when I’m not, my workouts are split with lower body one day, upper body another, and full body another day. I alternate days with cardio or HIIT.

I have that same Fitbit and extra band! I like how slim it is and the “dressy” band is decent for the price.

I have the fitbit alta HR and love it! I was just like you and thought my old fitbit was way too bulky. My new one actually looks cute on my wrist and I can change out the band colors, too. I would totally recommend it. :)

The Alta HR is amazing! Do get it! And they have a lot of bands for it even at Target. I got a cute polka dot black and white one!

I had Fitbit Charge HR for 2 years and after it broke I got Fitbit Alta HR (small and you can change the bands to nice fancy ones when you go out). I absolutely loved my Charge. Alta doesnt track the stairs and doesnt breakdown your workouts as well as Charge does. Not a deal breaker if you want to just track your steps.

Hi Lauren! I have that exact fitbit and band. I love it!!! I never take it off. It definitely motivates me to move more. I agree tho….I would love a tracker that said Yup you are on track and can have wine and chocolate for dinner!

I have the previous version Alta FitBit (so no HR) and I LOVE it. I’m not sure about the HR one, but the one I have you can wear even in the shower… so I literally never take it off except to charge it every few days — which is exactly what I wanted when I decided to get it because I didn’t want to forget to put it back on. I don’t have a dressy band, but I did get the gold version. I upgraded to a standard magenta band last year (the new bands clasp like a regular watch) and I think it looks cute enough to wear to work, out for dinner, etc.

omg my camera roll definitely looks the same!!! Also- following up to your question from a previous post on what kind of topics I like to read about- I LOVE that you have your weekly meal planning back. Those have always been my fave. Also also love any and all parenting/mom posts. Specifically posts on being a working mom is great. A lot of the blogs I read are from moms who stay home full time- so I think its great to hear stories about full time working moms in an office all day because I relate to that. I struggle with how to switch from “Working/Adult mode” to mom mode on the weekends. I feel guilty when I have no desire to sit and play cars with my boys- I find it incredibly boring and sometimes I wonder if its because I’m in adult mode so much more of the time that switching to mom mode on the weekends is so much harder because its a lifestyle I’m not as familiar with…. Sorry for the tangent but I feel like you always have such real posts on the ups and downs its nice to read!

Ohhhh YES to all of this!!! I 100% agree with you!! <3

I don’t have the Alta HR, but I do have that band in champagne gold for my Charge 2 and I love it! Definitely makes it look nicer :)

Haha!! My camera roll looks the exact same as yours. I have sooooo many of the same photos of my nephews because you just have to keep taking the pictures to make sure you get them both smiling and looking adorable at the same time! ;) My nephew Gio is going to kindergarten next year too, and I totally teared up when my sister was telling me about his screening also. My sister laughs at me because I really feel like they are my own sometimes, lol!! Omg, Samoas are THE BEST girl scout cookies. I haven’t had them in years, but those are my favorite!! I hope you have a great weekend, Courtney! Xoxo

Love the Alta and I LOVE LOVE LOVE this band. I have it in gold and silver and it makes a Fitbit look pretty fancy!

Oh please keep us posted on the procedure for the varicose veins in your legs. I have them on one leg too and they seem to get worse and worse so I’m totally interested in your experience with it/information about it!!
Have a great Friday :)

Keep us posted on the vein treatment! It’s something I’ve been debating, myself, but frankly… I am scared. lol. I am a medical procedure wimp (more like, I don’t want to be poked and prodded ever again after having two kids and some other health issues). As for workouts, I go to Orangetheory – it varies, but I assume it all evens out in their programming somehow. I love just being able to show up, get my butt kicked, and not have to plan or think about it.
Courtney says
Haha I hear you! I’ll definitely be sharing updates!

Last year I bought a fitbit alta for the same reasons you mentioned. I really loved the notifications so exchanged it for more features of the Blaze. It wasn’t long after that I upgraded that to an apple watch and love it! I do Orange Theory and with the FitIV app on the watch I can monitor my heart rate zones even on workouts outside the studio.

I thoroughly enjoy the convenience of attending without any prior preparation or cognitive engagement, and engaging in rigorous physical activity that challenges and exhausts me.
