1. Happy LAST day of MAY to you!! May seems to be one of our crazier months the past couple of years, likely due to a mix of baseball, parties, other work-related stuff. So it’s no surprise that the month flew by for us, but I’m still having a hard time believing tomorrow is the start of June…!
2. We did pizza on the grill the other night, and I was once again reminded of the fact that we just do not make this nearly enough. It is always SO GOOD.
(You can see how we do our grilled pizzas in this post and this OLD post!). We had some chicken sausage on hand, so I cooked that up and sauteed some peppers and onions for our pizza, along with some roasted asparagus. And since we had two pizza doughs on hand, we split one of them in half and let each of the boys make their own pizzas. It was a hit!
3. Despite the fun you see Alex having, I think we were lucky if we got him to eat about half of a piece…my goodness, has he been picky lately! Some days, I swear, the kids exists on milk and air. I don’t know HOW he is so solid for the small amounts of food he eats?!
4. Speaking of foods I’d rather not eat in small amounts… ; ) I was pumping gas the other day at Stewart’s (aka, home of my favorite cookie dough ice cream) and couldn’t help but catch this flyer for their limited edition flavors…
Ummm, I’ll take a pint of Toffee Pie Time and Peanut Butter Cookie, please!
5. Banana Republic Factory is having an extra 50% OFF all of their dresses for today ONLY! Just use code 50DRESS! I’m loving the look of this stripe sheath dress, along with this cute t-shirt shift dress (bonus, it has pockets!).
6. My obsession with front-knot shirts continues…
I think this may be my favorite shirt from my semi-recent purchase from TJ Maxx. Super comfy and paired awesome with some white jeans (these are very similar to mine, which are Just Black brand from Stitch Fix a few years ago).
7. FYI! Speaking of Stitch Fix, if you’ve been considering giving it a try for your kiddos, you can use this link to get a $50 (!!!) credit on your first fix! I’m planning on scheduling another fix for Lucas soon because the kid is in serious need of some more summer clothes (Alex is currently wearing everything that Lucas wore LAST summer…!).
8. Alex is going to be turning 3 (hold me…) in just a couple short weeks, and we’ve been going back and forth on what we want to get him. Currently, our top contender is this Step2 Extreme Thrill Coaster, which is very similar to the one he was playing on (and loving) at the party earlier this week.
I just don’t know if it’ll get enough use?! If anyone has had any killer gift ideas for a 3 year old lately, I’d love to hear ’em!
9. So I had a thought the other day, and maybe it’s just me…but does anyone else feel pressured to do all. the. things. come summer? I mean, summer is probably my favorite season of the year, and I’m all for finding fun things to do! But I feel like every time I turn around, I’m seeing bucket lists, and activities, and ideas, and I’m like, yeah, that’s great and all…but when am I going to pack in all of this fun stuff?! I’m still sitting at my desk the majority of the week, summer or not!
Meanwhile, I’m also scrambling to try and find (and pay for) enough summer camp options for my (school-aged) kiddo, so that he still has something to do while we’re working! I suppose, such is the life of a working mom…and don’t get me wrong, I truly do enjoy being a working parent. I guess I was just feeling a little frustrated the other day and had to vent.
K, I feel better now. : )
Alright friends, that’s all I’ve got for today. I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend ahead, whatever you may be doing <3

That pizza looks great! I never think to make my own, I’m just lazy and order it haha. What dough do you use?
Also, that cookie dough ice cream…sign me UP!
As for 3 year old gift ideas, I have nieces who were always into girly things, so I’m not sure what a boy would want.
Have a wonderful weekend!

I totally know how you feel about summer! I always see tons of bucket lists and events and wonder how people find the time. While I love taking my kids to special events, sometimes it’s fun to just hang out in the back yard… but social media creates this pressure to do all the things! And every year around this time, I get a little sad that I am a working mom… between having less time with my kids and scrambling to find and afford camps. Let’s face it… it’s just HARD sometimes!

Yes it is!!!

I don’t mind working either but come summer time I get soooo jealous of parents that don’t work out of the house. I would love to be able to spend the days with later wake up times, swimming, parks, story time and other adventures rather than trying to cram everything into weekends and after work when those times are already full enough.
Anyways, our daughter just turned 3 and I made the decision to not get her any toys – she got books, pajamas, a movie and swimsuits. We have so many toys (also a 7 year old son). Of course she got gifts from family that included an easel, puzzles and dress-up clothes. Personally if I were going to spend that much money on a gift for a 3 year old I’d want to make sure it would get used a lot and for a long time to come – not judging you or anyone else for spending any amount of money on a gift. With your neighborhood friends it might be a really great purchase for you and you know if he’d really enjoy it.

Those are great ideas for birthday presents!! We also have a ton of toys for inside, which is why I was trying to think of something fun outside (and we’d totally be going in on the gift together with grandparents, haha!)

I hear you on the camp / working mom life. Summer came so quick! I’m sending my soon to be 6yo to camp at the Y, I’m pretty sure he’ll have a blast. I look at some of the 2 hour “camps” around and while they sound engaging, they’d never work for us.
That coaster is awesome. My sister has a bunch of kids and got one of those used. Her 3yo can do it himself. Also – My 60 pound kid should still be able to ride it for a couple years too, it’s sturdy. In a neighborhood like yours, I bet it would be a big hit.

This is one of the reasons I return to your blog again and again – you are so relatable. YES. I have two boys and work full time and the struggle is so real to get in all the work, all the chores, all the social events, and have fun all the meanwhile. I don’t do any bucket lists – just try to spend as much time in nature and at the pool/beach with my kids when I can. Thank you for keeping it real.

Little Tikes Slam ‘n Curve Inflatable Water Slide is the best. I purchased it for my 18 month old and my 4 year old and they LOVE it. It’s so easy to put up and take down and is really durable.

Was coming to recommend a inflatable water slide as well. I got one on a killer deal at kohls with a 30% off last year but I believe amazon and walmart have them for a good price as well. We have the bonzai waterslide. LOADS of fun for both kiddos

Totally old school, but when my grandson turned 3 I got him a Bubble Mower and it was his favorite!

Have you considered a summer nanny? We have one and it’s worth every penny. We join a pool, do swim lessons and a few 1/2 day camps. Other than that they get to sleep in, swim and enjoy summer as if I were home. I love being a working mom but summers really got me too. I hated the idea of it being more 10 hr days away from home.

That was very helpful, and I appreciate your teaching me. Your blog posts are top notch in every way. You made available for public consumption a blog entry that, albeit lengthy, was incredibly interesting and useful.
