1. Do you guys remember a couple of months ago when I was convinced I broke my toe? Well, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t broken, but I have a super gross toenail that I’m pretty sure is going to eventually fall off. Well, earlier this week, I wound up stubbing the same stupid toe on a cabinet (what was I doing??) and the thing hurts. A lot. Seriously, what are the odds??
2. I made my Cinnamon Sugar Crusted Banana Bread this week and it turned out SO good.
Note to self though…trying to bake when half of your supplies are still boxed up in random boxes is NOT ideal. I’m not sure how much more I’ll be baking until we’re settled in the new place.
3. Apples make me burp. Like, a decent amount. And they’re really the only fruit that I’ve noticed it happens with, whether I bite into it or cut it into slices. So weird. And random, right? Anyone else?
4. I was *this close* to purchasing this shower curtain from Target earlier this week, but I decided to hold off.
But really…I’m still totally loving it, and the possibility of me going back to get it is not quite out of the question.
5. One reason I love that curtain? I think it will look awesome with the cabinet color that is going to be in the main bath upstairs. I realized I haven’t really showed you guys cabinet colors that we chose, so here’s a sneak peek:
The two color cabinets pictured above are going to be in our kitchen. The brown/grey color (Anchor) will be on the perimeter of our kitchen, and the island will be the light grey/off white color (Sand Dollar). We also chose the same grey/brown color for the vanity in the main bath upstairs, which is why I’m thinking the yellow shower curtain would look super awesome next to it.
6. The granite that’s pictured above is very similar to what we originally chose, but we actually wound up going back and switching to a different one after seeing a large sample of our original one and thinking NO WAY (SO thankful we were able to see that and make the change in time!). Here’s the one we chose…
I love it!
7. I know that there has been a good number of sponsored posts in the past couple of weeks, so I just want to take a moment to first say thank you. I know sponsored posts aren’t for everyone, and I do try my best to space them out as much as possible. But unfortunately, sometimes posting dates are out of my control or get shifted on me and schedules change so they wind up way closer than I’d like. This summer has come with some fun opportunities for me to work on, but I know I wouldn’t have those opportunities without all of you. So, above all else, I just want to say thanks so much for reading and supporting this blog. It means more than you’ll ever know. <3
8. I had this lovely little cookie waiting on my desk yesterday morning from a coworker. He always makes some good cookies, and I’m so sad he’s actually leaving our office today.
9. So yesterday morning I stopped to get a cookie dough iced coffee from DD’s (no surprise), and as soon as I got to my desk, somehow the cup slipped right out of my hands and my coffee went all over the floor. Worst part? It was one of the best ones I’ve had in a LONG time. My boss felt bad for me, so he let me go get another, just as long as I came back with something for him, too. Noooo problem-o! But of course, the second coffee wasn’t nearly as good as the first.
10. This little guy sure does love his teddy and his sleep. We’ve been having to go into his room almost every morning to wake him up lately in the mornings.
And…those legs. <3 <3 <3
11. Forwarding mail from the post office makes me super nervous. I don’t know if this is normal (I’m assuming yes? Maybe?) but we’ll go for days without getting mail, and then suddenly a few will trickle in here or there. I’m totally convinced we’re going to wind up with something lost or missing. And then what happens when we have to forward again in a few weeks? Gahhh! Oh, and if you forget to change your address on Amazon? Expect your Prime shipment to take about two weeks. It’s happened to me…twice. Yes, I’ve finally remembered to update my address. ;-)
12. Another quote from my desk calendar this week…this one made me think!
Lucky 13. I still haven’t gotten an apple fritter. I was going to this morning but we’re having breakfast club at work, so its definitely not the best day. I’m going to be on the hunt this weekend though, I can guarantee you that.
So Happy Fridayyyyyy everyone! I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend ahead. Anyone have any good plans for Father’s Day??
Ashley @ Sweet Carolina Belle says
I still have not tried the cookie dough coffee. Do they make a decaf version? You need to treat yourself to an apple fritter this weekend girl!
Courtney says
They sure do make decaf! Go get yourself one!!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
Nice sentiment to end on :) Have a super weekend!
Danielle @ Little Mama Big Life says
Nothing worse than wishing you bought something at Target only to return and find out its gone, right? I say go back and get it! You can always return it if you change your mind ;) Have a great weekend!
Kayla says
Apples make me burp all the time too!!!! The only stinkin fruit to do that! That bread looks amazing!! :)
Vasu Thorpe says
Your cinnamon sugar banana bread recipe is one of my favorites! Hope you get that apple fritter this weekend.
Courtney says
Oh yay! I’m so glad you like it!!
Renee @ Bendiful Blog says
Sorry about your toe! Ouch! Love the colors for your new cabinets and counters! Totally BUY the shower curtain you only live once.
Courtney says
LOL I think you’re right, Renee. I’m on it!!
Brynn says
Love the shower curtain! Also love the details of the new house. It’s fun to see some of the elements as it progresses. This weekend we’re celebrating my husband’s first Father’s Day!
Courtney says
Awww, hope your hubby enjoys his first father’s day!!
Colleen says
Yes – way too many sponsored posts. I do appreciate that you recognize it, but definitely changes the vibe of your blog.
amelia@i_heart_kale says
Girl, if you were in Charleston, I’d give you all the Apple fritter places to hit up! There is a place called Glazed Gourmet (can Google it and drool at th r website pictures) that’s out favorite spot for donuts and fritters. When I was pregnant, it was a weekly ritual. Mmm!
Speaking of your cookie dough coffee, I recommend buying a bottle of the d&d syrup from them. All of the dunkins down south have discontinued/phased out the flavor for cookies and cream.so sad bc you had me hooked!!
Yes, I burp with apples too,and they produce tons of gas in my stomach/intestines.TMI, I know. I only eat applesauce anymore bc of the awful side effects. I think it’s the sugar/fiber content. Have a lovely, warm weekend!!
Courtney says
Aww mannn…if you ever feel like shipping some overnight..! ;)
Linz @ Itz Linz says
love the sneak peek! i’m running a 5k in the morning with my sister then having brunch at my parents!
Courtney says
Sounds like fun! :)
Andie @ The Well Bread Baker says
So much to say about this post!
1) That cookie looks amazing. Nothing beats co-workers bringing in yummy homemade treats (especially on Fridays!)
2) The exact same thing happened with me and my Starbucks this morning. Knocked it over as soon as I got to my office. Sad sad start :(
3) Your new house is going to look incredible! I love that shower curtain and the cabinets look so gorgeous. I can’t wait until I’m older/married/grown-up and have my own house to decorate. I’ve loved following your progress :) Seems so fun!
Maggie says
Wow Courtney, that granite is GORGEOUS! (Can’t wait to see the final product!!)
Courtney says
Thanks Maggie!! We were SO excited when we went to go see it at the showroom!!
Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday says
Your banana bread looks incredible. I’m hoping my weekend includes some baking, because I’ve been itching to get in some quality kitchen time… and the results are pretty great, too. Have a great weekend!
Kimberly says
That shower curtain is gorgeous! I say go get it! Our plans this weekend include celebrating my husband (awesome father to our three daughters) and remembering my Dad, who passed away nine years ago.
Courtney says
I think you’re right…I’ve gotta go get it!
And thoughts go out to you this weekend, Kimberly. <3
Suzanne @ Life is a Mix says
I’m loving the cabinets you picked out for your new house. Good choice in changing up the granite, too! Much better choice in my opinion.
I agree that sponsored posts aren’t always my favorite but I think you do a good job at incorporating them in without being super blatant about it. You still keep them as “real” as you can and I appreciate that!
Is that a full size crib that Lucas is in? If so, good gracious he is getting BIG! Didn’t you just have him like, the other day?!
Courtney says
Thanks Suzanne! And yes, lol, that is a full size crib. He’s a monster!!
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says
I totally get nervous about anything with the post office so I understand. Have a great weekend!
Melissa says
I really love that quote! It really is so very true!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
Hi Courtney! Do you know they won’t forward magazines? I’ve moved a few times throughout San Francisco over the past couple of years and I never seem to end up getting all the mail! Oh well! Enjoy the weekend, lady! :)
Courtney says
Really?? I think we’ve received one so far…hopefully we’ll still keep getting them! I love my Cooking Light mag!!
Torry @ A World Without Wheat says
Good luck finding that apple fritter – it is clearly still on your mind and not leaving until you get it :-)
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine says
And isn’t it the best when those toe/foot things happen in the summer when flip-flops and barefeet should be happening! Always my luck too!
Courtney says
Hahahaha, go figure, right??
Marielle says
Ugh, spilling coffee is the worst. I think I did that once and almost cried…one of those days haha! Love that cinnamon bread recipe, so yummy!!!
Courtney says
I almost did too, haha :)
Lindsay says
Great choice on the granite! We just put that exact one in our house and it’s even better than expected!
Courtney says
Oh, no way?!? That’s awesome!! Now I’m even MORE excited, haha!
Claire @ Keeping Up With Claire says
I still haven’t tried the cookie dough coffee! Have you tried the other new flavors? I’m wondering if the Oreo just tastes like mocha? Hope you get your hands on an apple fritter this weekend! ;)
Courtney says
Have I tried the other flavors…OF COURSE I have. ;)
Cookie dough still trumps them all. Don’t waste your time, if ya ask me!! (although the Oreo did kind of remind me of a chocolate cupcake, so if that’s your thing…) ;)
Alaina says
Just wanted to let you know that although sponsored posts are not my favorite, it is still fun to try and win with your giveaways and it says a lot about your devotion to us readers when you do one non-sponsored post along with the sponsored posts in one day…I know that must take a lot of time!
Courtney says
Thanks so much for your comment, Alaina. Yes, I do try to add in some extra non-sponsored content when I have weeks that are a little heavy on sponsored stuff. Haha, it does take a little extra time! But it’s worth it. Hopefully other readers appreciate it too :) Have a great weekend!
Stacie @ SimplySouthernStacie says
Man, that is a powerful and convicting quote!
I’m going to Bonefish’s Brunch with my dad on Sunday. We’ve never had their brunch, so I’m pretty excited!
Courtney says
Mmmm, love Bonefish – never had their brunch before though! Enjoy!!
Tiff @ Love, Sweat, & Beers says
Awww, what a cute sleepy buddy. I wonder when Ethan will be ready for a pillow. Hmm??
I was thinking of making banana bread this weekend. Perhaps I’ll try your recipe. Cinnamon is always a winner in this house!
Courtney says
I will say that Lucas LOVES his pillow. Like, seriously loves it. We find him sleeping under it ALL the time!
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
Oh man, sorry about your toe! That sounds painful. Cody has experienced something similar, and it doesn’t look pretty!!
I totally love your cabinetry and granite choices! The white + darker mixed cabinets are totally “in” right now … great look! And I love the shower curtain – go get it! For $20 you can’t beat it. ;)
Courtney says
Haha, I think you’re right…I really should go grab it. It is only $20… ;)
Danielle says
I saw apple fritters last Saturday at the farmers market!!!! They looked awesome! I cant remember exactly which booth but they were there!!!!
Courtney says
Danielle! You’re supposed to remember these things for meeeee ;)
Shawna says
mmm that banana bread looks so good. i haven’t baked anything from scratch in a while. i’m not a DD coffee person at all so i haven’t had that, but that’s a bummer about spilling it! and it’s always nice to have fun coworkers who bake for you. i’m going upstate to the lake to be w/ the fam for the wknd –counting down the hours!
Courtney says
It’s one of my favorites! And enjoy your time up here at the lake! Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful :)
Laur says
It looks like Lucas’ little girlfriend is wiping him out. ;) Hey, a few extra hours of sleep must be amazing!
Courtney says
Hahahaha, that must be it ;)
Kristin says
I have that shower curtain and LOVE it!! My cabinets are a similar color to yours and I get complimented on the combo a lot by guests. You won’t regret it :)
Courtney says
Gahhhh, now I think I have to go grab it!!
Natalie @ The Ravenous Mommy says
I wish my son slept more! He falls asleep at 8:30 and wakes up at 6:15 almost every day :(
We are going to the beach on father’s day, should be fun!!
Courtney says
Well, that’s still not tooooo bad!! :)
Kacie says
Love your friday fun facts! I don’t usually comment, but I love reading your blog (usually on my phone while nursing my son!) and wanted to say thank you. You already have a full plate between working and mommying, so I think it’s amazing that you find time to blog! You are so relatable and reading your posts makes me feel like I’m talking to a friend. Long days at home as a stay at home mom can be lonely sometimes, so thanks for making the days a little less lonely!
Courtney says
Awww, thanks so much Kacie! That means so much :) I hope I’ll continue to “see” you around!!
Amanda says
I dropped my DD coffee today too!!! It was the sad. FWP for sure.
Courtney says
Oh nooooooo. TRAGIC!
Jen says
What is the name of that granite color?
It’s so pretty, and we are also building a house so always on the lookout for ideas :)
Courtney says
Hey Jen! I believe it’s called Fantasy Brown. Good luck (and have fun with the home building process!) :)
Anna says
#3 – yes as gross as it is, definitely happens to me too! I wonder why only apples do that? And I’m so jealous of the cookie dough iced coffee. Both DD’s near me have switched it out for Oreo and Chips O’Hoy! flavors! :(
