Fun Facts Friday {6/20}

By Courtney 46 Comments

1. The weather forecast for the next, like, 5 days shows high 70’s – low 80’s with totally sunny skies. That is basically the most perfect weather EVER.

2. Have you guys tried and/or heard about the new pancakes from Kodiak Cakes?

IMG_7416

They now make “Power Cakes” which basically taste just like their original pancakes, but with some added protein to help keep you fuller longer. I tried ’em out earlier this week topped with some peanut butter (even MORE protein!), bananas, and a little maple syrup.

IMG_6875

Totally delicious.

3. So I’ve been using a new shampoo and conditioner the past week or so, and I swear, it smells just like peach schnapps…which then leaves me craving a nice, fruity cocktail at 6am.

I do like the stuff though, which is always a plus.

4. Last night was book club night, and it had been so long since I finished the book, I arrived there having no idea what book we were even supposed to be discussing (it was Sharp Objects). Not that it reeeeally matters…I mean, we talk about the book for like, 10 minutes and then the rest is girl chat. As it should be. ;)

5. I swear, I think it’s been almost two weeks since I’ve stepped foot in a Target store. I can hardly believe it.

6. However, in reference to #5 above, I think I may need to break that streak because I really want to buy a Ped Egg.

PedEgg Reach Professional Foot File with Handle, Assorted Color/Design

No, I’m not joking. My feet have a case of the nasties, and I can’t keep paying for pedicures all the time (as much as I’d looove to). Anyone ever use one? Does it work? Have I totally grossed you out?

7. Do you guys remember my friend Christina? You know, the super talented one that makes customized ornaments and tree prints? Well she’s currently raising money for Paws in the Park, which is a walk taking place tomorrow which will benefit the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. Her and her friend Bonnie are walking as a team, and they’re in the hunt to try and reach 2nd place. The money raised at this walk will help the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society rescue more dogs (and other animals) and pay for the expenses that occur while fostering this furry babies until they are able to find their forever home. In Christina’s words, “I really want to kick butt in this. This is my first year in the walk and I would love to take the event by storm and raise as much money as I can to help give more dogs the chance to find the love they deserve.”

Hearing her talk about it last night was proof that she is extremely passionate about this (she has two rescue pups, Blue and Gunther, which are super adorable).

8. These Inner Peas snacks from Trader Joe’s are my new favorite “thing.” So salty, so crunchy.

IMG_7420
9. Lucas’s new favorite snack? Graham crackers.
IMG_7423
I finally found some by Keebler that don’t have honey as an ingredient, so we’ve all been snacking on them these days. Yum!
10. I’m sure there’s more I wanted to say here, but of course, I can’t think of any sooooo, Happy Friday! Have a great day, everyone!

I got a shipment of those pancakes too and I’m sooooo loving them. I made them the extra protein way with an added egg and milk. It was almond milk, but whatever. Your book club sounds very similar to my book club. Sharp Objects is a great book though. have a great weekend!

First, where did you get those pancakes??? Second, I have a ped egg and used it for a while but then just kind of forgot about it. Ironically, I had a pedicure this past weekend and paid for the extra callous treatment (even though mine aren’t bad at all but it came with an extra 10 min massage – sold!) and they used that on me, so I’m thinking I should attempt to find it again!

    Yay for nice weather!

I have yet to try the Kodiak Cakes brand! I’ve only heard good things about it and seeing as I love pancakes, I should really look in the store and see if I can find some. The power cakes sound delish!

I need a ped egg, too! I’m too cheap to shell out $35 every two weeks for a pedi and my feet aren’t the prettiest thing wearing flip flips and sandals all the time.

I need to get my hands on some of the Power Cakes! I have the original version in my pantry but extra protein is never a bad thing!

Funny you mention those pancakes today … I’m having a giveaway for them on my blog today. ;) They are really good. I think I love them even more than the traditional Kodiak Cakes which is saying a lot.

I get gross feet too, especially during the summer. For as much as I wear sandals and walk around barefoot, I’m not surprised. I need to find one of those callous remover things! I’d totally be up for trying one.

OK, so I give Hunter graham crackers ALL the time and I’ve never even thought about the fact that they may have honey in them. Whoops. Guess I should check that out the next time I buy them. Thanks for the heads up!

Have you tried just generally exfoliating your feet? Then use oil or foot lotion with socks. That might help!

I find pancakes always leave me hungry so I would definitely like extra protein!

Courtney, I noticed you bought the crackers without honey. I have a son myself, and when he eats food, I guess this is something I must also be mindful of. However, I thought if honey was baked in something, it was okay for them to eat. Is that not the case? Thanks for your help! :)

That’s very possible, Alaina! I hadn’t heard that discrepancy before, but I honestly never researched it TOO much. I just remembered reading a few places and being told to stay away from honey in general for the first year.

I haven’t tried ped egg specifically but I’ve tried the stone kinds looong ago. It works well when feet are soaked in hot water! Sometimes though, people end up having to use it more because it keeps creating more dead skin. So perhaps it’s different for different people? ;)

I really should invest in a Ped Egg. For some reason, getting a pedicure is not something I enjoy (prob b/c my feet are ticklish) and therefore my feet are not enjoyable to look at. It’s not really a problem for me most of the year, but in the summer it kind of becomes everyone’s problem if I choose to wear sandals, ya know? ;)
