Fun Facts Friday {9/12}

By Courtney 43 Comments

1. Jay passed a big exam at work on Wednesday, so we absolutely had to celebrate.

IMG_8031

With nothing but the best, of course…a big, fancy bottle of $5.99 Andre champagne, baby.

2. I bought Lucas this pair of Reebok sneakers a few weeks ago, and yesterday was the first day he was able to wear them (he grew into size 4’s overnight, I swear?!).

IMG_8043

I am obsessed with them. And yea yea, it’s cliché but I don’t care…seriously, I cannot get over how big he’s getting.

IMG_8040

3. This week has been my final week of the beta phase for T25, but I’ve already decided…I’m moving on to the gamma phase!

gamma

I’ll start it on Monday and I’m so excited to keep going, since I’ve heard such great things about it. I’ll be sure to fill you guys in!

4. I’m so excited to finally get my order of TOMS! I ordered a pair for myself and a pair for Lucas during the Zulily sale and had to prevent myself from buying more.

toms

However, if they fit as amazing as everyone says, I’ll likely have to get myself another pair because their site is showing a ton more cute patterns and colors right now. Gahhh.

5. Sometimes, there’s nothing like a big ol’ bowl of comfort food at mom and dad’s house.

Lucas and I went over for dinner last night after I got out of work since Jay had to work late. It’s a win-win…Lucas gets extra gramma and papa time, and I get dinner without having to wash dishes. Winking smile

6. I made these Chili Cheeseburger Enchiladas earlier this week from my girl Kristen and they were surprisingly super delicious. I’d been craving all things cheeseburger but had soft taco shells on hand so this recipe was perrrfect. I’d definitely recommend!

7. I had to make one of my bi-weekly trips to Target yesterday. This was one of my impulse buys.

IMG_8048

Ohhhh myyyyyy.

8. The main reason for said Target trip above was not so fun though…

IMG_8049

I definitely feel like I’m catching something so I wanted to pick up some Zicam in hopes of preventing or shortening whatever it is that’s on the way. Blech…being sick is the pits. Especially when you have to worry about possibly infecting the little ones!

9. Soooo, Jay and I are really hoping to pre-order the iPhone6 today. I cannot WAIT! Anyone else??

10. This weekend is the 3rd Annual Yard Olympics! Pretty sure things will be a bit different this year with babies all over the place, but I’m sure it’s gonna be fun nonetheless.

I actually tried it last night and didn’t loooooove it. It was good, but not as exciting as I was hoping. I wound up melting a little bit and swirling it into some vanilla yogurt with chocolate chips :-P

You have got to tell me how that pumpkin peanut butter is! It’s my two favorite things in the whole world, so this could potentially be life changing.

Meh…I actually tried it last night and was kind of disappointed. It was good…not great, in my opinion. I guess I just prefer my PB and pumpkin separate? :)

Huge congrats to Jay! I’m sure that’s a huge stress relief for both of you. I hope you don’t get a cold. That’s never fun, especially with a little one. I haven’t really read about the iPhone 6 but I have the 5 and it’s still working, so I’m going to hold off on getting the new one until it’s needed.

So glad to hear you ordered the TOMS … please share a “review” with us after you try them out for a day or so. I’m curious to know if they fit true to size or not, how comfortable they are, etc. Seriously eyeing several pairs for myself … ;)

I am due for a cell phone upgrade next month, so I am hoping to score a new iPhone 6 myself. I have the 4S, and it’s still working OK, but I would LOVE to have a larger display. It’s just so difficult to read small text on webpages right now.

Your reviews of the T25 program definitely have me intrigued. I was thinking it would make the perfect fall/winter at-home workout program for me. I was thinking about joining the gym again for the winter, but I’d like to save money for our upcoming wedding. Plus, I don’t mind working out at home after work. Hmmm … decisions, decisions.

Have a great time at the Summer Olympics this weekend! Might have to bundle up a little more this year though … temps in the low 60s for NY this weekend.

I bought that peanut butter in an impulse moment in Target last week too – but was so disappointed when I tried it! I thought it was too oily and it has a weird smell – maybe I just got a bad batch? Let us know what you think of it!

I actually didn’t love it either! Tried some last night and it was just a little…odd? I tried swirling some into yogurt which helped, but I don’t think I’ll enjoy eating it plain like I was hoping. Ahh well…

I keep hearing good things about T25! I’m going to have to give it a whirl someday, once my endurance is better (I still haven’t been able to complete 30 Day Shred. Sad as that is). My friend, Danielle, raves about it all the time!

Lucas is adorable. Can I just offer one piece of friendly advice? The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that kids stay in rear-facing car seats until at least age 2. It looks like Lucas is forward facing in the picture above. I don’t mean to preach or be sanctimonious — a lot of parents just don’t know the new rule (the old standard was to turn kids at age 1). My pediatrician is very serious about it, so that’s the only reason I really know. Here’s an article on it:

Maggie – I was going to say the same thing. I would encourage people to check out the Car Seat Lady blog, they have links to a lot of the most recent research that shows rear facing is 5 times safer for children than forward facing, and encourage people to keep their children rear facing for as long as possible, even though a child might meet the minimum weight/height requirements for forward facing. I only know all this b/c I’ve been researching myself, and found it to be quite interesting!

I would third all of this. I got worried seeing him face forward but of course nobody wants to tell another mom how to parent. But I just want Lucas as safe as possible!

I wasn’t a big fan of the Pumpkin Spice Whip nor the Maple Brown Sugar one. Which maybe isn’t a bad thing considering what happened the last time I found a Whip I really liked. Have you had the S’Mores version yet? If not, don’t even think about getting it unless you are okay with eating it by the spoonful in two sittings. YUM!

I’m on the lookout for those Pumpkin Spice morsels I keep seeing online but not in the actual store. Hopefully today’s trip to Tar-zhay will pay off.
