1. Thank you all for your words of encouragement from Wednesday’s post – they always mean so much! And we’ve survived the first week back, so it’s a win.
2. We had a fun, family evening out last night at Huck Finn’s Playland!
Lucas had all sorts of fun going on all of the rides (the “monster trucks” are his favorite!)
and Alex was surprisingly super chill for the whole outing, making the evening a success.
3. On Monday of this week, I was completely off the grid for about 2 hours and it felt SO strange. I wound up totally cracking the screen on my iPhone (after dropping it for the 1,000th time…) and after heading to the apple store for my appointment, I was informed it would be about 2 hours for them to fix it. I had just assumed since I had an appointment they would take care of it at my scheduled appointment time, but apparently that’s not the case. So I called Jay (who was home with both boys for bedtime) and informed him that I’d be unreachable for the next couple of hours. And, on one hand, while it did make me pretty anxious…on the other hand, that meant I was out by myself for TWO WHOLE HOURS.
4. So what did I do for my 2+ solo hours? Well, I did a little grocery shopping at Whole Foods and I walked through the mall for the first time in, umm, forever.
5. While I was there, I stopped into New York & Company (which I hadn’t been in to in so long) and I ended up buying this shirt in both blue and yellow, these destroyed jean leggings, and this tank in navy. The whole store was 50% off sooooo, really, I couldn’t say no.
6. P.S. – I couldn’t believe how walking through the mall made me feel so incredibly OLD.
7. I also got another Stitch Fix in the mail earlier this week and fell in LOVE with a few pieces. I’m excited to share them with you guys next week!
8. Wine in a can. Making moms happy since (whenever it was invented).
9. I’ve been trying to put together a list of some quick and easy snacks to have made for during the week and it seemed like at least half of the ones I had been looking at called for ground flaxseed (which I’d been out of for forever). So I placed an order through iHerb.com and finally got the flaxseed, along with some carrot spice pancake mix(!) and Justin’s vanilla almond butter (YUM!). I’m looking forward to making some of the “balls” and “bites” from my snacks board on Pinterest!
10. The age of three is, by far, the biggest roller coaster EVER. One minute, we’re having a conversation and he’s being totally hilarious. Two seconds later, he’s bouncing off the walls. And a minute after that, he’s doing anything and everything EXCEPT listening to whatever you’re trying to ask him/tell him. WHEW. Whoever came up with the phrase “terrible twos” must have never experienced the “threes.” Anyone else??
11. I’m about 95% certain that I’m going to start bringing back my weekly meal plan posts either this weekend or next – so stay tuned!
Alright my friends, I’m out for today! I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend ahead (long weekend for my fellow friends here in the states!), whatever you may be doing! <3

Apple for the win once again! That’s what we need – almost to be forced toget go and disconnect. Glad you had a wonderful two hours and first week!

Long time reader, first comment. Just wanted to say that I, and I know many others, really enjoy reading about your experience as a working mom and just as a mom in general. I love that you show the ups and downs of parenthood in a very balanced way. It’s something I can relate to.
Also wanted to add an “Amen” on the threenager stage. I have a 4 1/2 yr old and we are getting ready to try for baby #2. I told my husband when the next one turns 3, I’m sending them away and they can come back when they’re 5! Haha Obviously joking (maybe) but, boy, they are quite something at that age.

That’s crazy it took so long but what a fun escape for yourself. I am in need of a plaid shirt to wear with leggings. I’m on the look!

I totally agree it should be the terrible threes. Both of my kids were great at two and then boom three happened.

Three is by far the worst age we’ve encountered so far. Twos were not bad. Twos were full of please and thank you and “let me hold your hand, mama”. Now at three, Jayson is arguing, not listening and telling us “no” quite a bit. The extremes in his attitude are off the charts. Like you said, happy and giddy one moment and full-on tantrums on the floor the next. Counting down til we hit four. Hoping its a game changer.

Long time ready here who rarely comments but feel compelled to today. My big guy is 3.5 now and holy moly 3 has been a whole new level of challenging. Exactly like you say, one minute he’s hilarious and funny and loving and the next, without any apparent trigger, he is not listening and wild. We call him our threenager! Anyway you are NOT alone. I hear four can be pretty rough too….
Glad your first week back was a success. I go back next week!

I agree! 3’s are definitely more “intense” than 2’s! I’m not looking forward to going through it again with my second one. He’s 1 1/2 and already a handful!
Can’t wait for your weekly meal plans to come back!

Always love your meal plan posts! Glad you’re bringing them back! Have a great weekend!

Oh my gosh, yes, yes, yes, 3s were totally worse than 2s! For both my guys who are now 7 and 9. Glad those days are over. Sort of… And, on a totally different note – how was the wine in a can? I’ve been wanting to try but just wasn’t thinking it could be good. But now I’m seeing more and more people talking about it, so it must not be all that bad?

Haven’t you heard..? It’s the Terrible 2’s and the Fu** You 3’s. :) My daughter is 3 and someone said that to me the other day and I thought it was spot on. :)

I have long been telling moms that 3 is so much worse than 2. My “kids” are now 22 and 18 yet I still remember how I shocked I was since there isn’t a fun name for 3…maybe because no fun name can make it better? Anyway, the 3rd year will be one of the most trying but will also give you some of the best stories to tell his future spouse. Don’t worry, they eventually grow out of the phase.

So glad the weekly meal plans are back!!!

I read fact #10 and cried a little. We’re in a ROUGH spot with my 2.5 year old. But reading all these comments about what everyone’s 3 year old is like – sounds exactly like my little man now. Maybe he’s just an overachiever and started all the 3 year old BS a little early!! Wishful thinking, I know! Thank goodness for wine :)

Wine in a can? That’s brilliant. I’m not a human mama, but I am a pet mama of two, so this would come in handy for when your dog decides its play time and knocks over your glass of wine. -_-

YES to the Terrible Three’s! What makes them even worse is you’ve heard all about the Terrible Two’s so when your child doesn’t exhibit any of that behavior, you mistakenly think you’ve dodged a bullet & have an exceptional child. Umm NO!
