1. Whew, talk about a busy week. Jay was actually out of town for work all week (thankfully, he’s back as of late last night!), so it’s been a single parenting sort of week. And let me just say…for those of you who do this all the time? You are superheroes.
2. I realized as I went to start writing today’s post that I really haven’t written about anything new with us since last Friday. You haven’t missed much (hence the reason you hadn’t really heard from me before today!), but I did have a super fun little gathering at my house last Friday evening with some neighbors for a “Ladies Night Out!” I had out a table for my Usborne Books, my friend Kate had her Jamberry Nails business, and we also had One Hope Wine with us, thanks to (blog reader!), Christy!
The evening was so much fun, we had lots of good food, and the wine was seriously awesome. If you’ve never tried it before, I’d definitely recommend trying the Red Blend, the California Chardonnay, or the California Sparkling Brut.
I’m also really excited for my two new nail colors to come in – Waltz and Suede!
3. I found this picture on my phone and I couldn’t remember why in the world I had taken it. At first, I assumed it was because I was documenting going to bed at a super late hour, but then I realized it was actually the time we were able to wake up last Saturday(!). Lucas had slept over at my parents’ house and Alex decided to sleep in a bit…ahhhhhmazing.
4. How many other Keepers are there out there?? <—SUCH a great read.
5. The weather over here has been awesome. I’d actually almost say it’s been too warm, but I’ll bite my tongue because come 2-3 months from now, I’ll be dying for it. I was actually thinking we might bring the boys apple picking over the weekend, but something tells me it may not quite feel like “apple picking weather?”
6. I’ve kinda been diggin’ La Croix lately. For the longest time, I didn’t really understand the “hype,” and while I wouldn’t say I’m an addict or anything like that, I will say it’s quite delicious. Who else is on board the La Croix obsession train?
7. For the first time in a long time, I’ve actually got some ripe bananas that are ready for baking (besides the breakfast cookies I recently made!) and I’m excited about it. I’m thinking I may have to go classic with some of Grandma’s Banana Bread, although these banana cupcakes are always awesome too (because…that frosting). Anyone else have any other favorites for their ripe bananas??
8. I’m totally curious…how many days (on average) do you guys work out? I often think back to my days of working out 5, 6, sometimes 7 (eek) days a week and, lately, I feel like I can barely squeeze in 3. I’m SO off my game!
I’d keep writing out some more fun facts, but Jay actually came home a little sooner than expected (yay!) so it’s time to shut down the computer <3
I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend ahead, whatever you may be doing!

I’ve been meaning to try La Croix for the longest time, but still haven’t! The flavors sound so good!

That Passion fruit flavor is one of my favorites! There is like a Black Cherry one I’ve tried before and ooh my it was yummy! You mentioned apple picking, I so miss apple picking in NY, this time of year is my favorite and I swear we have the best places to go pick apples and have cider!! Have the leaves even begun to change yet since it’s been so warm??

I am not a La Croix fan. I just can’t get into the sparkling water! WIsh I could but oh well. I have been working out 5-6 days a week. It’s harder being back at work, but I keep trying. Except we were up two hours last night with my son who learned to roll in his crib and hated being on his belly, sooo no workout for me this morning. Have a great weekend! I’m also torn about apple picking.
Andrea says
Ha! Workout 5-6 days a week 😂 now it’s like 2 if I’m lucky and yoga and walking other days.

I do love La Croix but only certain flavors. The cranberry was a huge hit with me when I was pregnant. Umm apple picking – it’s been in the 90s and humid here so fall activities have not been on our radar either. Yay for returning husbands. It’s nice to have everyone under the same roof.

My FAVORITE recipe, besides banana bread, to use with ripe bananas is How Sweet Eats Chocolate Gingerbread http://www.howsweeteats.com/2010/11/chocolate-banana-gingerbread/ The batter smells aaaamazing and puts me in the fall frame of mind.

I found myself nodding in agreement with so many of these fun facts today! It’s funny how I can totally handle the kids by myself during the day, but I am SO dependent on my husband coming home to “save me” at night. Even just to lock myself in the bathroom for a minute. But last night he had plans after work so it was all me & I found myself thinking the same thing about single parents. They are amazing!
We have a play date set for the apple orchard today & it is most definitely too warm for it, but I’m embracing this moment in time where my kids actually loooove apples & going with it.
Also, totally in love with LaCroix. Have been for years. Lime is my favorite!

I’m so with you on the workouts. Now I average 4 days, but I used to workout at least six! Oy. Now I enjoy walks and bike rides with my family.

OY VEY!

I’m just really impressed that your iHome still works! Mine crapped out on me years ago haha! I honestly work out maybe 2 or 3 days a week, it’s so sad! Gone are the days of marathon training!!

I work out 6-7 days a week! That picture of you with the boys is just too cute! It totally reminds me of my sister with my two nephews! They are about the same ages and whenever you post about them it always makes me think of them! I’m so glad Jay is back home! Yay to no more single parenting! ;) I hope you have a fabulous weekend, Courtney! Xoxo

Single parenting…eeek! I am a nerve ball when my husband travels.
La Croix-I can take it or leave it. Depends on the flavor! It does help with water intake for sure!
Working out-I work out 6-7 days/week. NOT because I am super fit, but it’s either that or Prozac!! haha!!
Fall weather/baking-bring it on! Summer is awesome, but banana muffins are way more enjoyable when your house isn’t 1,000 degrees with the oven on!
Wine + books + nails + friends = the perfect equation for an excellent evening. I wish we lived closer (I wish we knew each other for that matter)!! Cheers! :D

Me and mah girlfriends did a sip and pick yesterday! We sipped wine coolers and picked apples! We got kicked out the grocery store though because they calt us a nuisance! Some people just ain’t into fall!

I have a 22 month old and made it my 2017 new years resolution to workout 3 times a week. I’ve been able to stick to that (most weeks) and recently have been able to get in 4 days. I think this is really because I started to try to manage my time better. I get up early (and just deal with being tired), take advantage of nights when my husband can cook dinner, and have even started to go for a 2 mile jog during my hour lunch break. I’m totally a “keeper” so I feel like my plate is constantly overflowing but I continue to try to make working out a priority. I also have let go of the idea of our house being clean during the week :) I know once we have a second kid I’ll be settling on 2-3 days for workouts, if lucky.

My Friday favorite – the Monkey Bread at Druthers! My boyfriend is living in Albany for work for the next 4 months so I visited him last weekend and his coworkers recommended we go there (and I’ve read about it on here before…long time reader but not a commenter). We both raved about it all night and I can’t wait to go back the next time I’m up – – plus find other good spots! We’re big foodies haha

I am OBSESSED with Lacroix! I picked up some canned Perrier which I have been loving SO MUCH!

I can’t wait for apple-picking weather to arrive! This is only my second “real” fall (moved from New Orleans to DC last year) and I am so aboard the fall-obsessed train. Not so much with La Croix. Not a huge fan of sparkling water, to be honest. I guess I just rarely crave the fizz. As far as working out, my goal is five times a week! Sometimes it’s three, sometimes it’s six. It really all depends on how I’m feeling. Also, banana pancakes all the way! I also love me a good slice of sugar-crusted banana bread. ;) That with a warm cup of coffee in the morning is the perfect cooler weather breakfast to me!

I love LaCroix — have you tried the new sparkling water flavors at Trader Joe’s? Those are really good, too! (and cheaper!)

The coconut one is sooooo good!

The olive oil flavored one is gross tho!

7 days a week but we have an elliptical and treadmill in our house

I’m totally on the La Croix train! I’m wishing our fall weather was a little more fall-ish but I know that won’t happen around here until like November. And I’ve been fitting in 3-4 workouts a week, trying to strive for 5 days though.
Jaima says
Yea for la croix or as we call it here “fizzy wa wa.” Lol. I work out 5-6 times a week for less than 30 minutes and I’m in the best shape of my life and post kiddos too!
Katie says
I do 4 days. I feel like that is the right balance for me with 3 kids. It helps that on the days I work from home I take them to the gym daycare. I definitely used to do 6-7 days and I would be burnt out and overtrained a lot of the time. I am in much better shape now too. I don’t like the feeling of “having to get to the gym”. Now I fit it in when I can and I am much more relaxed about it.

Guility La Croix addict here! Thank you Costco :)
I workout about 5-6 days / week at home!
That wine looks amazing
Whitney says
I have been loving la croix lately too! Several years ago I tried it and could not understand why anyone would drink it and now I can’t get enough! The lime is my favorite. I usually work out 6 days a week and take Sunday as a rest day.
