Monday already? Booooo. This weekend went way too fast!! Anyone else agree?
We had a beautiful weekend, weather-wise over here. It was sunny and cool, in the mid-upper 60s. Perfect for being outside in sweatshirts and cozies (my favorite!!).
Saturday was a pretty chill day at home. I’m pretty sure the only time I left the house was to go to the bank to get a banker’s check to pay our school tax bill (UGH…). Other than that, we were home and laying low. Jay and Lucas were still recovering from their colds (although Lucas’s is just about gone…just a nasty sounding, leftover cough) so the extra quiet time was good for everyone.
On Sunday, we had a pretty quiet morning since my parents took Lucas out for breakfast and bowling (he was thrilled!). Alex was down for a nap and Jay and I were sort of like, umm, it’s so QUIET!
Later in the morning, I met up with my parents back at their house so my mom could give me the haircut I was so badly in need of. The hair was just getting way too long, the ends were gross, and I needed something out of Alex’s reach.
So she got to work…
And not only do I have short hair now, but suddenly, my hair also has waves in it. My hair never, ever has waves…postpartum side effect, perhaps??
Either way, it’s short and I am SO excited. I can’t wait to play around with it some more to see what other styles I can manage…but I’m most excited about the shorter hair drying time. I think we cut off almost 8 inches in some areas! WOOP!
Fast-forward to the afternoon a bit…both boys went down for a nap, I did a little blog work, got some stuff prepped for a couple of Usborne Books parties coming up this week, and then I whipped up a batch of these delicious cookie bars.
Then we got the boys up, fed, dressed, and we were out the door to head to our neighbor’s house for a little get-together.
I can’t tell you HOW awesome it was to be able to just walk to somewhere and not have to get in the car.
Alex was lovin’ it.
And so was Lucas, since it meant he got to walk with his mower…aka, his favorite toy to walk up and down the streets with. Apparently, he’s known by some on our street as “Lucas, the lawn mower guy!”
Once we arrived at Kate and PJ’s house, there were delicious snacks AND awesome drinks. Have you guys ever seen these before? SO GOOD.
Our get-together was absolutely awesome because out of all 3 families there, we’re all in the same boat; two kids, younger ones all 9 months or younger, just trying to survive life. It was perfect. The “big” boys got to hang out together, play, and have dinner at the cool kids’ table.
And the little ones did their thing, too. Party animals, they were.
Eventually it was time for dinner and OH MAN, talk about my kinda dinner. Italian, baby!
Kate put out an amazing spread of chicken parm, baked angel hair, garlic bread, meatballs with homemade sauce, and salad. I helped myself to a little of everything, of course.
Towards the end of dinner, a certain someone was in need of a nap; as you can tell, he’d had enough.
And the big kids all burned off the energy from their dessert by jumping all over poor Kate and PJ’s couch.
Little cuties!
And the littler cuties!
Oh yes, and the big cuties men.
Such a fun time! We’re definitely anticipating more nights like this in the future; and because they basically live right in our backyard, we’re fully planning on building a path through the woods so we can get to each others’ houses that much easier.
Now, I’m finishing typing this post up at almost 10:30 since I just finished up a fun book party just a little while ago, and it’s just about time for BED for me!
Here’s to having a great week ahead for everyone!! <3
