I don’t know about all of you guys, but I feel like October came and (almost) went in the blink of an eye. Here were, just a few days shy of October 31st…Halloween!
I honestly think Halloween is one of my favorite holidays to decorate for, even though we did keep the décor a bit low key this year. With half of it somewhere in boxes that have yet to be opened, I just didn’t have the energy to go snooping through it all.
But that doesn’t mean we aren’t nice and festive over here!
I look forward to Halloween more and more every year as Lucas gets older. Sure, Jay and I always enjoyed it before kiddos (we had some pretty fun Halloween party adventures in the past), but getting to see Lucas all dressed up is even better. Yes, even if we’re not drinking out of a Pumpkin Keg!
Even though he hasn’t been super pumped about being in costume thus far, he winds up staying in it long enough just to make his mommy happy.
First Halloween // Second Halloween
This year, we attempted a couple of borrowed costumes from our friends’ kids but, unfortunately, they were all either too big or too small. I set out to the store to try to find something else for him, but the thought of spending $30-$40 on something he’s probably not going to want to keep on his head anyway really had me questioning what to do.
So then I started browsing around on Amazon for something to do with construction (since he’s OBSESSED with all things construction) and came across this role play set.
I figured, hey, at least he’ll be able to get some use out of it after Halloween, and it’ll wind up fitting him for years. Win-win!
So now we’re all ready to set out trick-or-treating this Saturday. We have no idea what to expect in terms of trick-or-treaters in our new place, but we’ve stocked up on some candy for the big kiddos, and some more spooky snacks from Bitsy’s Brainfood for the little ones.
Bitsy’s Brainfood has some newly designed packaging for Halloween, making them a perfect snack to give out to your little trick-or-treaters.
Orrrr, to keep for your own little ghosts and goblins.
Because they really are something you can feel good about giving them. They’re nut free (perfect for bringing into school parties, too!), GMO-free, USDA Organic, and they’re baked with whole grains, fruits, and vegetables like sweet potatoes and beets.
And to appeal to the little ones eating them, they’re also in adorable alphabet shapes…perfect for practicing those ABC’s during snack time!
I’ll personally vouch for the Sweet Potato Oatmeal Raisin flavor…they’re delicious!
Plus, they have a $1 off coupon right on their website that you can print out!
Lucky for you guys, Bitsy’s Brainfood is giving one lucky reader a $50 Target gift card!
To Enter: Check out the Rafflecopter giveaway below!
I’ll announce the winner on Thursday, October 29th. Good Luck!

My favorite healthy-ish Halloween treat is a random snack I made for my cousins one year: (frozen) banana mummies. Our favorite Halloween memory happens every year when we go to the annual block party in the downtown area of where we live. My husband and I LOVE Halloween and we love to get dressed up and really get into the spirit. Although, the last few Halloweens have been EXTRA SPECIAL because we had a son and he loves this holiday too, so it’s really fun that he shares the same enthusiasm about Halloween with us. This year our son’s going to be The Hulk (boy loves his superheroes), I’m going to be a tribal princess/warrior and my husband’s costume is TBD (talk about waiting until the last minute), lol!
Sadly, I do not know of any healthy Halloween treats….because this is a time of year where I definitely indulge ;)
