Giveaway Week–Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 of Giveaway Week!

Just jumping on the Giveaway bandwagon? Be sure to check out this week’s previous goodies:

  • Giveaway Week – Day 1
  • Giveaway Week – Day 2
Alright, so you may have caught on this morning, but today’s giveaway is one that I am really, really excited about.
IMG_0868

As you guys know, I’m a FitFluential Ambassador and have been working a bit with GNC. Well last week, I ended up getting an email saying that they had an abundance of chia seeds from  The Chia Co. and that, since they knew I was a fan of them, they were going to be sending me a shipment. Whatever I decided to do with them from there was up to me. I thought, “okay, this is pretty awesome.”

Then, I received the shipment and opened up the box…

IMG_0917

Holy chia seeds!

IMG_0911

So the cool thing about TheChiaCo. is that the raw material is sourced directly from Australia.  Australia’s raw material and nutrition standards are much higher than they are here in the US.  The product is actually tested by a third party company to ensure safety, purity, etc., and they come in both white and black varieties. These chia seeds are ONLY available at GNC.com.

IMG_0916

This particular brand of chia also contains more fiber, omega3, and protein than I’ve seen in other brands; plus they’re gluten free! I’ve been eating them like crazy in oatmeal, on English muffins, on top of rice cakes, and even in my water.

IMG_0879

But enough about me…let’s get to that giveaway! As much as I love my chia seeds, I am obviously in possession of WAY more chia seeds than I can eat in a lifetime right now, so why not share the wealth a bit, right? :)

IMG_0914

Lucky for you guys, there’s going to be more than one winner for today’s giveaway:

Each winner will receive three bags of chia seeds + a chia tank top!

I actually have NEVER had chia seeds! Ahhh i know crazy right?!? I follow a lot of health/fitness blogs (yours is one of my favorites, no lie!) and always see chia seeds incorporated in so many different meals. I know the health benefits of chia seeds are AMAZING in so many different ways. From weight management to antioxidants, they are truly an remarkable little seed! Being a frugal college student with a true passion for a healthy lifestyle, I'd love to be able to add extra nutrition into my daily diet. I'm always on the run between nursing school and my hectic life, adding a quick health booster to everyday foods would be wonderful!

I actually JUST picked up a (tiny) bag of chia seeds the other day at Whole foods since I can't seem to find it anywhere! I've been dying to try them and have already used them to top my morning oatmeal the past few days. I would love to start baking with them but I'm stoked to try out a recipe for chia pudding!

I already love adding chia seeds to my oatmeal to make it extra thick and hearty, but I've seen lots of other fun things that you can do with them that I would like to try. For example, you can add chia seeds to low-fat soups as a thickening agent or soak them in egg and use them as a binding agent for meatballs or meatloaf. So many healthy possibilities!

I confess that I've never had Chia seeds, but I've been dyyying to try them!!! I've done the flaxseed thing and it's worked out, so when I finally get around to getting chia seeds, I imagine using them in some similar ways to that: sprinkling on top of my English muffins, my oatmeal, into my yogurt. Once I get a taste for them, we'll see what else I'll do!

I've never tried chia seeds! I've always wanted to. I'd use that in EVERYTHING like I do with peanut butter ;) I can imagine using that sprinkled on a chicken too... mm! It's hard enough for me to get a necessary amount of fiber and omega 3- it would be nice to have an extra boost! I'm also a college student, always on the go- it would be awesome if I could have that in my "to go snacks"!
