Growing up, my brother and I always had some running jokes when it came to gifts, especially at Christmas time. As we’d be opening our gifts, we’d always try to guess which ones were underwear or socks (by shaking them, of course), and when it turned out that one of them actually was underwear or socks, we’d kick up the excitement just a little bit more.
Because as a kid, who doesn’t love getting socks, right?
Okay, I’m kidding. As a kid, my brother couldn’t have cared less about getting socks as a gift. But as an adult? Well, we’ll just say that my brother is most likely not going out and getting himself new socks on the regular. So a couple of weeks ago, I decided to surprise him and his girlfriend Carissa with a little something special…
Socks!! But these aren’t just any socks. Have you guys heard of Bombas? Bombas are athletic-leisure socks, re-engineered to look better, feel better, and perform better, with a mission to help those in need. I first heard about the company a few months ago, but as I looked into them a bit further, I was absolutely impressed with what I learned.
(Here’s a great video about their donations and impact, too! http://bombas.com/video-landing-page/)
It’s kind of like Toms or Warby Parker, for socks, which I find to be super cool. Did you guys know that socks are the number one clothing request at homeless shelters? Well, since launching in October 2013, Bombas has donated over 300,000 socks to those in need. That is definitely something I can stand behind. Not to mention the fact that they’re wicked cute AND incredibly comfortable.
Bombas actually spent two years on research and development prior to launching, to come up with a number of substantial improvements to the athletic sock…
Invisitoe – They hand link their socks to get rid of the annoying bump that runs across the toes on most socks.
Y-Stitched Heel – A Y-shaped stitch creates a natural cup around your heel, so your sock stays in place.
Blister Tab – A tiny ankle cushion that sits directly where your shoe hits your leg to prevent painful rubbing and chafing.
Stay Up Technology – One of the first things I noticed when I wore my first pair of calf socks is that they really stayed up there, without making it feel like I was losing circulation from them being too tight.
I can attest to the fact that Bombas stay up, aren’t too tight, and don’t slip down (they actually tested 133 different tension levels!).
Long Staple Pima Cotton – The minute Jay and I put our first pair Bombas on, I think we both looked at each other and said “Holy @*!$, these are comfortable!” The Long Staple Pima Cotton stays warm in the winter and cool in the summer with its natural moisture wicking properties.
Even better, Bombas offers a 100% happiness guarantee: If you don’t think they are the most comfortable socks you’ve ever worn, they will refund your entire purchase. But I would imagine they hardly ever have to offer refunds because, I swear, the things are ridiculously comfortable. And they make people very happy.
Want to check them out? Go for it! Bombas now offers solid colors too, available in Navy, White, Grey, and Black in both Calf and Ankle styles. Plus, you can check out their limited edition Fourth of July style before they sell out too, which will be released in early June!

I love socks (is that weird?), but I’ve never tried out Bombas! Might have to get on that. Sounds like a really high-quality product from a company with a cool business model. Love it :)
Courtney says
Totally not weird! And yes, you definitely need to give them a try :)

I have seen bloggers posting about Bombas lately. Question for you though….how do they fit? I have large feet and wear a men’s 13 shoe. I wondered if they are stretchy or not. For some brands that are stretchy I can wear the largest ladies size but other non stretchy socks I need to buy the men’s. Both gender’s look the same in the photos…correct?
Courtney says
I think they fit great! They’re pretty snug, not suuuuper stretchy. I’d say you may want to go with a mens size, but yes, they’re both the same for men/women! :)

I love companies that follow the one-for-one approach because really, who doesn’t feel better knowing that their money is going TWICE as far!

I love companies that give back so much. Tom’s shoes is great for that reason as well. Thanks for sharing your review!

It is surprisingly hard to find socks that are comfortable! You wouldn’t think so, but they always fit or rub wrong. I also love companies that have a social conscience.
