Here’s the face of a little guy who was quite happy for his Halloween party at daycare, BEFORE putting on his costume…
Aaaaand, here’s the face of that little guy AFTER putting on his Halloween costume…
Ohhh, my dear Alex. I mean, the fact that the costume definitely didn’t even fit him probably didn’t help matters. Buuut hey, you win some, you lose some, right?
Thankfully, another certain little boy was VERY excited about Halloween AND about his costume this year!
I was lucky enough to be able to scoot out of work for a little bit on Tuesday afternoon to attend the Halloween party at the boys’ daycare. They had a nice little lunch, followed by some fun in their costumes!
Looking a bit grown up from last year’s party!!
Alex didn’t last too long in his costume, and it was pretty much a disaster with me trying to leave to go back to work (neither wanted me to go…) BUT I was so glad I was able to stop by and celebrate with them.
After work, I picked the boys up, we quickly stopped home, and then we headed over to our neighbor’s house for a little Halloween dinner before the kids went trick-or-treating.
Considering how the lion costume went, we figured we’d try a different one since our neighbors had an extra Batman costume from last year.
As you can see, that went quite well.
Apparently, we’re not quite into costumes yet at 16 months over here(!).
But actually, as long as his coat was on and he couldn’t see the little “spike” things on his arms, he didn’t mind the costume. So I’ll take it as a win.
Lucas was in his GLORY the whole night, leading the pack in racing from house to house to get more candy.
We were constantly having to remind him to “slow down,” and trying to keep him from running by distracting him with games of Simon Says while the other kids caught up. It reminded me a lot of when I was kid growing up, since I was always being told to wait for my little brother to catch up. : )
It really was SO much fun to watch the boys run around, all while hanging out with some great neighbors.
And, by the way, the kids weren’t the only ones having a good time! We had some rock star neighbors also offering up some Redd’s Apple Ale for the adults, so they totally won best house on the block (thanks again, Ali + Nolan!!).
We finished up with our trick-or-treating with a little time to spare before bedtime, so Lucas spent some time sorting through all of his candy and laying it out, piece by piece.
It was definitely a great day!
How was your Halloween? Have any fun stories to share?!

Alex will look back st these pictures and laugh one day! Too funny. I attended my son’s Halloween party and parade as well and loved seeing them with all his little friends. Such a fun time!

My son is 10 and I still have to remind him to slow down! When they get that age the are quite a bit faster. The parents get their workout in. :)
Your boys are so cute!!
Christen says
My youngest loves to dress up in costumes, but hates going door to door to get candy (me too!). So it was an adventure for us as well. :)

So glad to see the boys have a good time! Da parents as well! I took my nephew trick or treating and they had a blast! We axeidentally left our porch lights on and we came back to free toilet paper on our lawn and trees!

My oldest is 3.5 now and finally had a fun Halloween in that he “got” it and was into it. When people opened the door, he’d say, “Happy Trick or Treat!” Pretty much the cutest thing ever. I’ve been a terrible blogger, but I had to recap our Halloween since it was Connor’s best and the baby’s, Austin’s, first (even though he slept through most of it). I had to make sure I remembered all the meaningful details and I know these days, my brain can’t be trusted to hold onto all that stuff.

Awww! So cute!! I am in love with all of these pictures, even the unhappy ones of poor Alex! I must say, my nephew Enzo was NOT having it with his costume either! Haha. Gio on the other hand was having a blast and he was actually Batman too!! :) I went door to door with Gio while Enzo stayed with my sister waiting at the end of every driveway. I think I had more fun than the boys ;) haha!! Hope you’re having a great week! Xoxo

Oh my gosh. What cuties! It’s so sweet to see Lucas pumped for Halloween even if Alex isn’t quite there yet. :) My boyfriend and I don’t have kiddies, but we do have a very social pup, so we took him for an extra long walk around our neighborhood, soaked in the sights of the decked out house and excited kiddos and even scored some Halloween candy ourselves! It concluded with homemade baked enchilada casserole, pumpkin beer and Stranger Things. A TOTAL win in my book. ;)

I know he isn’t happy in the lion suit but the photo you captured could totally scream lion.

Same experience here! My almost 4 year old loved it! It was so fun to see her really get into it all this year. My 16 month not even close- Could not get any part of her costume on. Ugh. Oh well!
Claire says
Alex looks incredibly overweight! Have you seen a doctor?
Courtney says
Wow. Claire, I’m not really sure how to respond to your comment, except that I’ll say I find it a bit rude and surprising that you’d find it okay to comment on a child’s weight like that. But regardless. Yes, obviously, he’s a big boy. But he’s also well within a healthy range. According to the doctor that we DO bring him to. :)
Claire says
Hi Courtney, awesome! just looking out – also, when you advertise your entire life on the internet, you should expect comments like this.
Chelsey says
No, I don’t think she should expect comments like this. How incredibly rude of you. He is a healthy toddler. Are you around kids often? I’m going to go with no. How dare you body shame a BABY!! Especially when he is NOT overweight and totally healthy.
Claire says
Hi Chelsey! I actually have a kid of my own! But thanks for your input :) xoxo
Shashashaqueefa says
Claire..obviously you do know a lot of working out since you exercise running that mouth of yours! What you’re doing is bullying and it has nothing to do with whether or not Courtney chooses to advertise her life.
Claire says
I also think it’s hilarious that people get mad over comments! Get over yourself!!!!!!
Chelsey says
People get upset because what you said was totally uncalled for and you were in the wrong for saying that about Alex. I think it’s perfectly acceptable for me to defend one of my good friends and her child when someone says something so absurd. Have a great weekend!
Claire says
You too girlfriend!
Claire says
Also — are you not familiar with the blog world? People say worse things on https://gomiblog.com/forums/healthy-living-bloggers
Courtney says
So Claire, if I’m reading that correctly…are you saying that just because people (for whatever sad reason), feel the right to say whatever they want behind a screen in the “blog world,” and that people may say worse things elsewhere…that it gives you the right to say whatever you want about my child? Seems to me that we should be doing just the opposite and trying to spread more good and positivity. There is no reason that should be “the norm.” If that’s the case, then I’m sorry, but I think it’s probably best for you to take your readership elsewhere.
Shashashaqueefa says
YOU tell her Courtney! Begone with your rude a$$! Hopefully your kids grow up with more tact and mindfulness.
Claire says
Hahahaha
Carrie says
Awww Courtney…I wish I could give you a big hug. I’m sorry you have to deal with rude people like that. I hope you are able to not let it bother you. Sad that there are people like that in the world that want to spread negativity. Must not be happy in their own lives. Love you and your blog hun.
Claire shaneequfa says
It’s not my problem her kid is overweight! Jesus
Shashashaqueefa says
You are truly a vile person.
Claire shaneequfa says
Shashaqueefa- this convo is over.
Shashashaqueefa says
Ohhh sweetheart that’s fine – this conversation is done and over. However, maybe you should show YOUR face and family before you criticize anyone else’s. Thanks for copying my handle! I’m soooo flattered!
Melanie says
This is clearly one of Courtney’s family members – just stop adding fuel to the fire…. stop commenting back to rude insecure people like Claire. Courtney I’m sorry you have to deal with this.
Courtney says
Thanks, Melanie, I really appreciate that :)
Definitely not one of my family members, though. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?) I have no idea who it is…
Kayla says
Courtney- I’ve never commented on your blog but I have followed you for years. I’m so so sorry that this awful person is commenting. She clearly has no life and is extremely insecure. Your babies are perfect and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! XOXO
Courtney says
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment today, Kayla. I really appreciate that! <3
