Thank you Facebook Marketplace for sponsoring this post. There’s something for everyone!
It really is kind of amazing to see just how much STUFF you accumulate once you have a baby. Between clothes, swings, bouncers, highchairs, and toys (oh, the toys!), I felt like almost our entire storage area of our basement was completely filled to the brim. Literally!
Then, of course, if you know that you want to possibly try for another baby down the road, you hold onto it all and let it continue to accumulate as they continue to outgrow it all.
As for us? I was still holding onto all of our baby stuff up until very recently. I hesitated on getting rid of a lot of it for a long time, just in case of that teeny tiny chance that we may want to try for another baby. But at this point in our lives, Jay and I have decided that our little family most definitely feels complete as a group of four.
Well, okay, five if we’re counting Cody.
So once we finally made that decision and felt comfortable with it, I started to go into total clean out mode. All of that baby gear takes up some serious space!
We’ve been fortunate enough to loan out a number of baby items of ours to friends and family, but with the rest, I started using Facebook Marketplace to sell it.
Guys, I LOVE using Facebook Marketplace, and it’s one of the reasons I was so excited to collaborate with them on this post because I’ve already been using (and loving) it for so long!
It’s a SUPER easy and convenient way to discover, buy, and sell items. You don’t have to download another app or set up a new account, since it’s all right within your normal Facebook account. And posting things to sell is a breeze! Snap your pics, upload, set your price, choose a category, add some details, and you’re done.
Anyone who is interested in purchasing can contact you over Messenger, and you always have the ability to checkout a person’s public Facebook profile before deciding to sell to (or buy from) them.
I have sold SO many things this past year, between old baby things and toys that just never really got used, and I’ve been fortunate enough to have every single transaction work out super smoothly.
Then, whatever money I typically make from the sales gets put aside to go towards future items that the boys may need (clothes/diapers) or want (Christmas gifts). Seriously, I’m obsessed!
Have you tried buying or selling on Facebook Marketplace? I’d love to hear!!

I actually used Facebook marketplace when I moved a year and a half ago. I was able to sell a lot of the stuff I didn’t need – and put the money towards furnishing my new place! yay!

I need to do this for so many random things laying aorund the house! Do you have to meet up with the people to get them the item or do you just mail it to them? I should look into this. Thanks for the post!!

This is my question too. Do they come to your house to pick it up?
Courtney says
It’s totally up to you. I, personally, do not like having people meet at my home so I tend to choose a nearby, public location to meet the buyer and it’s always worked great!

I made a big move to England from the US this year and decided to get rid of some furniture in the process. I had never sold anything online before but thought I’d try Facebook Marketplace. SO easy and convenient and I sold everything in 24 hours. I was actually a little overwhelmed with the number of messages I got from people wanting to buy items but hey, I’ll take it!

Love FB Marketplace! When we moved we sold a bunch of small furniture items on there. I also found free moving boxes that we passed along to someone else using Marketplace after our move. We’re all on Facebook way too much anyway, nice to be able to do something productive on there too haha

Did you have an “aha” moment when you knew you were done? I have two boys too and logically I know we are done. But sometimes I think the possibility of a third. I just can’t tell if it’s natural and everyone feels this way because it’s the last baby and the end of an era, etc. I just want to have that certainty of knowing 100% we are done! So I can sell my baby stuff to haha. Sorry this is rambling I’m just curious to know how others know when they are done having kids.

Hmmm, I’m not sure I really had an “aha” moment. I think it was a gradual leading up to it. I think I’ll always wonder about a third, but I just know in my heart at this point that two is perfect for us. :)
