Hey, hey. I’m still alive!
Yesterday was just not a wonderful day…I felt like crap a majority of the day, which only seemed to worsen as the day continued. After work, the couch was mine, and I spent a few quality hours with my blanket, my box of tissues, and my book (which I finished…Emily Giffin, you better make a sequel to Where We Belong!!!).
I was in bed nice and early again, getting me up fairly early this morning. Thankfully, my faucet of a nose seems to be slowing down a bit, but my head is still a mess and I’m still just feeling blah. I will most likely be laying rather low today to ward off this thing and keep it from getting worse!
For breakfast, I was craving something warm and comforting, so I decided to whip up a batch of Mixed Berry French Toast Oatmeal and a mug of hot tea.
That picture is so, totally not from today…I was way too lazy to grab my camera.
So this morning as I was eating breakfast and checking through my emails, I came across one from a blog reader, Meagan, giving me a heads up on a fun new website…all about SHOES.
Sole Society is a member based site, and after browsing around, I quickly realized that they have a TON of amazing shoes. They have funky shoes, high fashion shoes, and even nice, classic shoes, which I am a big fan of.
What can I say…I’ve always been drawn to the classics. Thanks, mom.
Typically when I come across sites like these, I usually browse once and call it a day, but right now they’re having a BOGO deal so I decided to check it out a bit more…
And within minutes I wound up with two pairs in my cart.
I loved the pumps since they weren’t super tall (although I really wanted the red, but they were sold out in my size!) and the sandals will be perfect for Mexico next month(!!).
Sole Society also offers free shipping, which is another major win in my book.
Since the site is member based, you do have to sign up, so to start checking it out feel free to use my referral link by clicking here.*
*Just a heads up, and to be totally transparent: That is a referral link, which gives you the opportunity to earn credits to the site by inviting friends (if they purchase). As I told my other good friends, I’m sharing the site because I think it’s awesome. Obviously, credits would be awesome (feel free to share with YOUR friends if you sign up!), but I love the shoes and thought you might too, so I wanted to share it with you all. No pressure whatsoever!
I’m so excited for my order to come in, and I can’t lie…I’m really excited to be able to have an excuse again to buy “real” shoes, now that I’m back in the working world. So much more fun that the constant sneakers and Uggs I was living in before.
Alright, time to go lay back down…have a great weekend, everyone!

Rue La La is my shopping addiction. I need to go shoe shopping, but am waiting for the spring/summer styles to come out since I live on Florida. I don’t use boots! Plus, I have a $50 gift card to DSW that is burning a hole in my pocket

I seem to have the same kind of cold as you, so I know how you feel and I’m really sorry! I have to take our son to a bday party this afternoon, and all I want to do is bury myself in the couch under a blankie!
Love the shoe site. My bank account is still rebeling against the online Coach Outlets sales I participate in though. No more shopping for me. Well, maybe until tax time! :)
Andrea @Pencils and Pancakes says
What is with all these shoe sites popping up. I find it bizarre. I’ve never bought anything from them, but all of a sudden there was Just Fab, then Shoe Dazzle, then a couple of other ones. Weird!
Courtney says
Yeah, I know what you mean! There’s definitely more popping up lately…but I’m not complaining. I love me some shoes :)
Elaine says

Katie @ running4cupcakes says
I love finding new fun sites! Hope you continue to feel better… I think being pregnant makes being sick that much worse too- but you are building good antibodies for the baby, so that’s good!
Nicole says
Hey Courtney! I had a terrible cold a few months ago and didn’t think I could take anything for it, but turns out that regular Benadryl and Sudafed are totally ok to take during pregnancy. Of course, confirm with your doctor, but mine gave them both a green light! Feel better soon :)

i’m really not trying to snark, but am honestly intrigued by how these blogging lifestyles work.. how often do you HAVE to do promotional posts? Are you required to do a certain amount in order to keep your sponsorship? Do you get to choose what products you choose to review, or are you given a list of what you *have* to review? Also, are you compensated just for the actual product, or do they compensate you for your time and energy it takes to do such thoughtful reviews? I’m thinking about launching my own blog but want it to be profitable and am interested in how to do so. I’ve noticed lately you’ve done a lot more sponsored posts–the almond milk, the wasa crackers, these shoes, etc… is that to help with income, or just the timing was right, or what? I hope this doesn’t come across as too intrusive or personal. if it does, please disregard and delete–i just am genuinely interested in why/how you choose to do reviews. Thanks, Courtney, and keep up the hard work! I love the blog, and congrats on your newest addition! I assume you’ll be reviewing baby products in the near future?! :) how exciting!
Courtney says
Hey Laura,
To answer your question, for me personally, there’s never really any product that I *have* to review. There are times, however, where I have a schedule of when I must post something. For example, the Silk campaign that I did through FitFluential. I chose to be on that campaign, because I genuinely love the product. Once I was chosen for the campaign, I was given a date of 1/2 to post my recipe, if that makes sense.
When it comes to reviews, not everything that I review is compensated. The post of Sole Society yesterday, for example, was not a compensated review post whatsoever. I’ve never been in contact with that company, literally found out about them yesterday morning, and decided to share because I liked it so much and had decided to buy from them.
Sometimes companies will reach out and ask for their product to be reviewed. I’d say 80% of the time, I turn them down because it’s not a product I truly love. But if it’s a product that fits with me, and my blog, then I’m more willing to work with that company. Wasa crackers have long been a favorite of mine, so when they asked if I’d be interested in doing a giveaway (not compensated, but given free product) I agreed.
Most of the time, I try really hard to space out my review/sponsored posts; I know it probably seemed like a lot this past week, and that’s because I didn’t really pay attention to the timing. Other than that, I actually haven’t had any more review posts than normal. I enjoy doing reviews for products that I love (whether I’m working with the company or not) because I just enjoy sharing those types of things. I never intend for them to come across as “too salesy” or anything like that.
I hope that answers your question. If you ever have any further questions, feel free to email me. :)
Laura says
Awesome…thanks for your thoughtful & detailed response. I guess with the timing, it did seem to be a lot this week, but naturally, that’s sometimes how it works out I’m sure. I appreciate your honest feedback and I definitely agree your reviews sound natural and honest. Thanks for the feedback! Have a great day!
Jessica @ Prayers and Apples says
shoes make me so happy ♥ shoes and purses… i’m such a girl lol
Valerie @ FreshMutz says
I love the “Cleo” pair under Classic Beauties.
Casey says
I don’t plan on purchasing shoes, but I LOVE that you’re transparent about referral links. Kind of similar to being compensated for product reviews you do. I can’t stand it when bloggers give GLOWING reviews of thing, like Old Navy Clothes for example, and then fail to reveal that they got compensated $300 for reviewing the items. I’m glad I can TRUST you!
