You know, I usually pride myself on being able to (somewhat) withhold urges to binge on crazy-good food.
I can usually abstain from downing a box of cereal in one sitting (90% of the time, my boxes of cereal get stale before I can finish them), shovel handfuls of granola one after the other (although I may be tempted), or eat cookie after cookie once they’re baked. Sure, I enjoy enough (and yes, sometimes a little more than enough) but nothing that I would tend to deem “overboard.”
That was…until these showed up at my door.
Woah.
This afternoon, I received an unexpected package in the mail from Wild Harvest, who is actually the gold sponsor for this year’s Healthy Living Summit.
The box had all sorts of their organic goodies, including applesauce, peanut butter, raisins, salsa, black beans, spices, granola, and…animal crackers.
I seriously couldn’t stop. They aren’t like any other animal cracker I’ve had before; usually I find them to taste more cracker-like with a subtly sweet flavor, but oh no…these things were more like a sweet little butter cookie, which I’m assuming must have some sort of magic potion baked into them.
I think it’s called the “you can’t stop at just one half a bag.”
I must tip my hat to these little fellas…they are one of the first goodies in a LONG time that has caused me to fall victim to the “I’ve started and I can’t stop” fiasco. Well done, Wild Harvest. Well done.
I give ‘em until tomorrow evening…tops.
Thankfully, I didn’t only subsist on animal crackers this afternoon.
I was starving by the time I got back from my doc appointment earlier, so I quickly put together a little salad duo: a simple salad of spring mix, sugar snap peas, carrots, and grape tomatoes with a serving of cheesy crab and shrimp salad on top.
No dressing needed…it was great on its own.
Shortly after that salad, I wanted something sweet so I put together a little bowl of fresh strawberries with a wedge of The Laughing Cow cinnamon cream cheese spread.
This was a great little afternoon snack for the sweet tooth.
Tonight, Jay and I have a softball game, which is most definitely going to be a scorcher…which means that this is probably going to be the first time this season where I’ll have to actually wash my uniform shirt. Is that gross? Ahh, oh well.
Last but not least, I’ll bet that you guys are probably waiting for some giveaway winners, huh?

Time to go play some softball! Oh, and attempt to work off some of those extra animal crackers…
Haha you are so funny!! Even though I have a major sweet tooth, I have found that certain types of chips are difficult for me to stop eating. Like Doritos, for example. I swear, those things have crack baked in them! ;)
I just got home to find the same package on my doorstep!!! Can’t wait to open it and dig into those animal crackers :D
I totally know what you’re talking about—- having animal crackers on hand is one of the biggest perks of being a lower elementary school teacher- gosh I miss kindergarten! HA ;) ……PS- they are delicious as a topping on a smoothie or a few mixed in! Mmmmm!
Oh geeez, don’t tell me that! Haha :)
I love animal crackers… I’m definitely going to have to try this brand! What a fun surprise package, it looks like there were lots of yummies! Btw, would you mind sharing some wisdom about this said self-control? I’d love to know how the heck you could possibly resist all of the goodies you bake!
Eeek. I wish I did have some sort of wisdom…I honestly don’t know. I guess I’m more of a hoarder with my goodies, lol? ;)
Good luck in the heat tonight during your softball game!! And I’m obsessed with regular animal crackers, so I can only imagine what I would be like with those puppies!
Oh gosh I love animal crackers so those would be so dangerous around me!
I recently discovered the strawberry and LC cinnamon cream cheese combo. So good!
omgness what a genius idea!!! Laughing cow cheese with fruit! I must tip my hat off to YOU, misssy! And I think I pride myself in not going “overboard” with things too, but once in a great while there’s that mean culprit. :P
I love Wild Harvest! They carry those products at my local Jewel Osco!
I love animal crackers but these sound like something I would love even more! I’m definitely going to have to get my hands on some…. ;)
I literally screeched with joy when I opened my package! I had no idea what it was and couldn’t believe it!
I haven’t had animal crackers in a long time & these sound delicious!
animals remind me of my (very) young days!! I remember eating the ones that came in the box! haha these sound like they are really good if they are more on the buttery side. Can’t wait to hear how you like the peanut butter!
Haha! The one thing that gets me every time is Cadbury mini eggs. I used to only have to worry about those around Easter, but now there is a Christmastime version too! Once I start on those the bag is lucky to last through the next day.
I just got mine this afternoon! After reading this and seeing your Instagram pic before, I’m SO excited to dig in!
What I would give to get a box of food like that sent to my doorstep!
That’s awesome! I can’t wait to get mine in the mail :) wooo!
I don’t think I have ever seen that brand in my stores and it is probably a good thing if they are that hard to stay away from!!! Sadly, I cannot pride myself on staying away from baked goods. I have to be SOOOOO careful about having that stuff in the house because I will shovel it in…..as long as it is awesome tasting!
I have a friend who dips animal crackers into Nutella…she’s a genius! :)
Oh, your package is really awesome. You received a lot of foods and goodies and it seems you are enjoying eating them all. I love to receive package as well. Hope this year I could receive many packages. HEHEHEHEH
Wow! That package is awesome! :) The animal crackers sound delicious.
I was crazy addicted to animal crackers as a kid! I’ll have to find those and try them!
What a great unexpected surprise!
You know, I keep hearing about this cinnamon cream cheese by Laughing Cow and I have looked at Kroger many times, along with Publix several times, and they don’t have it. :( I’m bummed. I’m going to try Walmart this weekend and maybe Food Lion but the likelihood of Food Lion having it is small. Any ideas where might sell this?
Oh my god. Those crackers were the best. I didn’t even want to share them with my kids!
ohhhh i love the laughing cow cream cheese on crackers and things but i have never paired them soley with fruit! what a fabulous idea :-)
I love how the animal crackers are already opened in the photo of your package! I’m totally guilty of snacking away and forgetting to take pictures of samples hahaha I NEED to try these, they sound delish! xo
