I noticed the other day, as I was packing up some of my food to bring to work, that I’ve been on a bit of a “repeat” mode when it comes to a lot of what I’m eating these days.
As you guys know, I don’t document all of my food anywhere near the way I used to back in the day. I don’t miss blogging like that, honestly (it was time consuming AND just exhausting sometimes!), but I do miss getting the chance to share some of the things I’m eating and loving.
So today I thought, why not do just that?! Here’s a look at what I’ve been eating on repeat these past few days/weeks/months…
Justin’s Vanilla Almond Butter
I buy mine at iHerb (seriously, love that site) and it’s just so. darn. good. I mean, the stuff is good on anything, but lately I’ve been loving it with bananas, or spread on graham crackers with some mini chocolate chips sprinkled on top for an after dinner snack/ dessert.
Annie’s Bunny Grahams
I originally “bought these for Lucas,” but let’s be real…
They’re totally for his mama.
Sweet Potatoes
I recently bought a bag of mini sweet potatoes for something like, $2.00, at Price Chopper and we’ve been working our way though them since. Sometimes I go through phases where I sort of forget about just how GOOD and versatile those things are. I love them with meals but they also make a fabulous snack (go the savory route with some black beans and salsa, or a little sweeter with some peanut butter and honey!).
Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
I knew it was going to be dangerous making these cookies over the weekend, and so far, I’ve been right. I’ve been averaging about 2-3 per day since they’ve been made…they’re just too easy to grab right from the freezer! I guess it’s a good thing they’re really not that bad for ya.
Crockpot Steel Cut Oatmeal
But I guess that goes without saying. With the way my current obsession is going, I foresee this being made every week! Has anyone else given it a shot yet?
Cara Cara Oranges
If there ever was a variety of fruit that really stood out from all the rest (at least for me), I’d absolutely have to say it’s the cara cara orange. These things are just so sweet and juicy, and absolutely perfect this time of year. I’ve been buying a bag of them each week and we usually have no problem working our way through it.
Salads for Lunches
Surprisingly enough, I’m still on a salad kick for lunch. I’ve been prepping them on the weekends (making them for both Jay and myself), which makes it super easy to pack up during the week. I just add a couple extra toppings (lately, it’s grilled chicken tenders, avocado, and goat cheese), pack my dressing (and occasionally croutons) on the side, and I’m good to go!
Yogurt for Dessert
As much as it pains me to say it, I really just can’t be eating a huge bowl of ice cream every night. We were getting to the point where a 1/2 gallon of ice cream would last 3 days in our house, and it was just too much. So to replace my ice cream, I’ve been devouring these little makeshift desserts which typically start with a vanilla or plain yogurt (liquid stevia added if it’s plain), a tablespoon of PB2, a sleeve of a graham cracker, and lots of mini chocolate chips. It satisfies the sweet tooth and has a little extra staying power, too. Deeeee-lish.
Starbucks Coffee
I’ve reignited a habit that had been tamed down for a bit…but lately, I just can’t get enough of my favorite Starbucks coffee order (grande blonde roast, 1 pump caramel, 1/2 pump white mocha, nonfat milk). They’re owning me…but I’m earning my free drink rewards, so that’s gotta count for something, right?
Fruit & “Stuff” in my Water
I’ve said this before, but I almost always end up drinking so much more water during the day when I have fruit or other things in it. For the past few days, I’ve been all about the lemon-cucumber-mint combo, and it’s rocking my world. I’m sure it’s a combo of the add-ins, plus just the extra water consumption in general, but I’m feeling great. Plus, more water = more trips to the bathroom, which = more steps taken in a day. Win-win!
So how about you guys? What have you been eating (or drinking) on repeat these days?
I’ve been on a huge sweet potato kick recently too. My favorite way to serve them? Sprinkled with some spices such as cumin and chili powder and roasted for 25ish minutes in the oven. I love the idea of having them for a snack, too!
I drink SO much more water if it’s got a little flavor in it. I’m definitely with you on that one.
Let’s see, I’ve been eating oats, bagels, and trail mix on repeat lately. Hey, if it “ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”
Yeah I frequently “buy things for my husband” that never make it past his lips. Those bunny grahams are the bomb though.
Sweet potatoes are in full rotation along with hard boiled eggs and grapefruit. Loving all of the fresh citrus! I am not looking forward to all of the kiddo foods coming into the house soon- just more for me to snack on. One for you, one for me ;)
I have been all about those chopped salad kits for lunch. They are just so incredibly easy and taste really good too.
I am loving the Cinnamon Raisin Pb&Co peanut butter. It is so, so good with oatmeal + apples! I used to make steel cut oatmeal in college but forgot about it because it took so long to prepare.
That is a GREAT peanut butter!!
can’t get enough of Justin’s almond butter!!!! #bythespoonful
I’ve been loving Noosa yogurt, walnuts and grapes for a snack and eggs for breakfast lately!
I need to try that yogurt! It always looks yummy :)
I do plain Greek yogurt with frozen berries and melted raw honey (which I suppose makes it not raw anymore but I prefer the thick, real honey anyway, just easier to drizzle if I heat it up a few seconds)
A lot of eggs, kale and apples going down lately. I eat the same things on repeat all the time!
That Justin’s Vanilla Almond Butter is my faaaaavorite stuff ever. I rarely buy it because it’s so pricey, and I have little to no self control around it, but it’s a nice treat every once in awhile. My favorite is just a big ol’ spoonful of it!
I can’t wait to get home and try out your version of Crock Pot Steel Cut Oats. Hunter and I will both benefit from it, and it doesn’t seem like it could get much easier!
I’ve been drinking lemonade on repeat lately…it just tastes so refreshing and yummy!
I’ve been drinking hot lemon water in the morning, oatmeal with peanut butter & blackberries for breakfast, chickpea “tuna” salad for lunches, and yogurt with granola for an afternoon snack. Alll week.
I feel like I’m hearing so much about the “hot lemon water” in the morning thing lately…perhaps I should give it a try??
A lot of my eats are “on repeat” right now… but they’re so good! I’m loving Archer Farms Cranberry Almond Crunch trail mix, all Justin’s nut butters, Quaker white cheddar rice cakes, and big salads! Also… all forms of chocolate. ;)
I think that i have been eating on repeat for far too long. I’m a creature of habit but with some flexibility–more so that I am aiming for certain types of things at the same time each day. But I am getting a bit bored with my choices of late. That’s why it has been so good to go out of town for a bit and have all of that thrown out of whack. Except now I would really like to go home and have a bit of a simpler meal-day, thank you!
My sisters and I call those bunny grahams “crack-bunnies” – they are like teddy grahams on steroids, so amazing
Hahaha, I’m right on board with you and your sisters ;)
Yes this almond butter = BEST.THING.EVER.
I’ve been loving ROASTED sweet potato wedges! I’ll season them with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, and it makes the biggest difference! They become addictive. (not as addictive as half gallons of ice cream…but still really good :) )
YUM!!
This is a great post idea! I love all of those things… especially sweet potatoes and water with “fruit & stuff” in it. Also, at least you have a child to blame for the Annie’s crackers. What’s my excuse? Ha! :)
i call them crack bunnies, because those annie’s cookes are so addicting! love them.
I would totally agree with you on that ;)
I haven’t had a cara cara orange, but I’ve been into good ole’ fashioned oranges lately. I forget how delicious they are!
Vanilla almond butter is my FAVORITE!! Have you tried it on a baked sweet potato yet? It’s the best! The maple flavor is also really good.
Omg YES! It’s incredible, right?!?
Matcha Lattes!!! I’m in love! Keto fat bomb fudge, coconut yogurt made just from coconut milk! A whole load of eggs and avocado!
Ugh I LOVEEEE putting stuff in my water! I recently gave up soda so I’m always on a hunt to find a way to enjoy my water. Cucumber & lemon water is deff my fave. I’ll have to try it with mint!
I love Justin’s honey peanut butter or honey almond butter. I’ve been eating that one wheat crackers lately. I’m also loving Ezekiel muffins, peanut butter toast and soup!
Does your batch of steel cut oatmeal get you through a work week??
Mine lasted me for 4 full breakfasts + a little extra – probably could have stretched it to 5 but I wanted about a cup for each serving
I’m a big “eat on repeat” person, too .. why mess with what’s good? I’ve been doing smoothies for breakfast, greek yogurt or cottage cheese with “baked” (aka microwaved) cinnamon apples for snacks, egg and veggie scrambles or big salads for lunch, trying hard to drink a lot of water and just jumped on the kombucha bandwagon!
I need to get back into smoothies! I just always have such a hard time with them when it’s so freakin COLD!
i pretty much eat the same things every day…i’m so picky, and i like what i like! i eat a banana almost every day — lately with dark chocolate almond butter (mmm) or in a Greek yogurt, and i eat a lot of bars: Medifast, Quest, Kind bars, all those good ones. i’m such a creature of habit.
Hey, if it ain’t broke…!
Courtney, I made those cookies 2 days ago….they’re freaking DELICIOUS!
Oh YAY! I’m so glad you like them!! Do you eat them as-is or frozen like I love ’em? ;)
I love almond butter but apparently there is some kind of scarcity as the prices (at least around my way) are through the roof. Anyways, everything looks delicious.
That Almond Butter is one of the best – and a repeat iHerb purchase for me too!
Lately, a few of my repeat eats have been what we like to call “protein nice-cream” – cottage cheese blended up with frozen fruit and peanut flour (or minus the peanut flour for a non-PB flavoured version), heaps of greek yogurt, crunchy apples, earth balance peanut coconut spread and salad or ham wraps with swiss cheese. I seriously have a dairy thing going on at the moment, it seems haha.
Mmmmm, ham and swiss! I haven’t had that in SO long…
I’ve been all about the oranges lately. They’re so delicious at this time of year!
My husband and I have been really into the cara cara oranges too! So good.
My repeat foods are apples, yogurt, fiber one protein bars, babybel cheese, and nuts (cocoa almonds and salted peanuts).
Those protein bars are so good, aren’t they??
Yes! I am loving the caramel but flavor.
Haha haha. I mean Caramel NUT (not but) flavor!!!
Hahaha! Try the cookies and cream, too. So yummy!
I’ve been loving plantain chips lately. I just get them from Trader Joe’s and they’re so hard to stop eating!
I tend to eat the same things and I don’t know why…I don’t normally get sick of it like most people. I have been adding some versatility with my complex CHO options…my latest most favorite has been sweet potatoes. I shave them using a grater (because it is just so easy) and sautee them in coconut oil with granulated garlic. I have to watch because I will eat well past my necessary CHO intake if not! They are like dessert! YUM!
I love Justin’s Almond Butter, but I almost never buy it because it is so dang expensive! I have been attempting to make my own version and although it doesn’t taste the same it is still quite tasty!
I’m such a creature of habit. Greek yogurt, bananas, oats for breakfast. Lots of green tea sweetened with almond milk and stevia. Sweet potatoes, eggs, veggie burgers, spaghetti squash and TONS of trail mix. That’s about it! :) I need to get my hands on some PB2, haven’t tried that yet!
Lately I’ve been obsessed with spinach and tomato salads with a homemade orange vinaigrette ohhh and hot chocolate
I really wish my dairy-sensitive stomach would let me have yogurt – I totally miss it as a snack! I really need to get on more of that almond butter; it honestly is the absolute best out there! I’ve been having tuna on ezekiel bread for a lot of my lunches with an apple, and love it!
