This past weekend was great. The only bad thing about it was that it was too short, but really, isn’t that the way it is with every weekend?
On Friday evening, we decided to get out for a little bit and headed over to the Country Folk Art Craft Show at HVCC.
I’ve been to this show a number of times over the years, and it’s always filled with all sorts of beautiful, fun crafts and decorations. While it seemed quite a bit smaller this year, there was still plenty of stuff I could have spent a small fortune on. Instead, we had a toddler who wanted nothing to do with his stroller, yet everything to do with all the things he shouldn’t be touching, so our trip through was quick.
In the end, we wound up with a picture frame, this new lantern post and some kettle corn.
I’m still not sure where the lantern post thingy is going (possibly outside, possibly in the foyer…who knows?), but I DO know that the kettle corn rocked my world.
And there was plenty of that enjoyed while we sat at home on the front porch and watched the sprinklers go on in the yard…because a certain someone is obsessed with them.
On Saturday, I decided to set my alarm a bit earlier so I’d be able to get my workout in for the day. Jay was headed out golfing with some of our cousins, so it was just me and Lucas. I worked out, showered, got ready, Lucas got up, we had breakfast, then we were off. We hit up Marshall’s to return a couple of picture frames and get a couple new ones, and then we made a trip to BJ’s to stock up on some essentials.
It was nap time by the time we got home, so I put Lucas down and then got to work on some laundry and blog work. Thank goodness he napped for me on Saturday because he certainly didn’t on Sunday. Ay yi yi.
On Saturday evening, we had some special visitors – Sarah, Jeff, and their little guy Chase came over to visit! It had been so long since we all hung out, so I was excited to have them over to see the new place and catch up. Plus, they brought prosecco. Yay!
Our original plan was to go to a local fair, but the weather didn’t cooperate with us so we decided to just stay in and order some pizza. And the veggie pizza, by the way, was out of this worrrrrld.
Luckily, Sarah and I even got a little quiet time to catch up, thanks to the guys taking over with the kiddos and putting on an episode of Paw Patrol (umm, this is basically Lucas’s favorite thing ever right now).
Such a great evening!
Sunday can basically be summed up in one word: painting. I swear, the room isn’t even that large, but we started at 11am and didn’t wind up finishing until almost 5pm. Granted, there was stuff going on in between, but if I never touch another paint roller again, that will be 100% a-okay with me.
We broke for a quick and easy dinner – salads and grilled chicken.
And eventually, we were finally finished!

Now I’ve just got to get some stuff on the walls and find a rug and we’ll be close to finished in there.
I was also hoping that we’d have time to get our gallery wall up but that didn’t happen. Ah well…honestly, I’m still moving things around and not totally sure on how I want it laid out. But I did incorporate a few new frames that I’m loving, so now it’s just a matter of deciding if I want to keep it this way or change it up at all.
Who knows?!
As for now, my hands and neck are incredibly sore from all that painting, and typing up this post made me realize that there’s still leftover kettle corn to be had. So I’m gonna leave you all here, and I’ll catch ya tomorrow.
Hope you guys had a great weekend and have a fabulous week ahead!
P.S. – I’ve gotta give a huge thank you to MediaKix for featuring me on their blog on Friday! If you have a sec, feel free to go check out the interview!

Thank you! Yes, every once in a while I do it – it’s usually a mix of that and a few of my different beachbody workout DVD’s :)

Love the gallery wall! Our house needs something creative like that. We have so many empty walls – it looks like we’re moving out (and we’ve been there for two years).

I’m not a fan of painting either. But, your office looks great! I love your sign this kitchen is for dancing – so true in my home too!!!

Your painting is really inspiring! I need to get my butt in gear and paint my kitchen. After 7 years in our house (and a ton of home-cooked meals), its time to freshen it up!

I think painting is one of those things that is awesome right at the beginning, because you see right away the difference it makes in the room. However that quickly wears off as you realize how long the whole room is going to take! I love the color you chose. :)

Kettle corn and prosecco would be a perfect bubbly combination. I am all about kettle corn all the time, and when you add my favorite drink, well, it’s wonderful :)

You can’t get much better than wine and pizza with friends! Also, kettlecorn popcorn = one of the most addictive things on the planet. Looks like you had a great weekend! :)
