Kitchen Injury (+ a Winner!)

By Courtney 13 Comments

Holy smokes ladies and gents…this kitchen has been rockin’ ALL day today! So far, I’ve made:

  • Sweet Tart Cranberry Sauce
  • Apple Cranberry Stuffing
  • Layered Pumpkin Pie Toffee Cheesecake
  • Skinny Pumpkin Pie
  • Caramelized Onion Dip

I’ve also cleaned about a gazillion dishes and had a slight kitchen injury when I nearly cut my pointer finger off while slicing onions. It was not pretty folks, not pretty at all – so I’m sparing you the picture. Thankfully, the bleeding subsided and I am now just left with a finger that is constantly reminding me of my beating heartbeat (you guys know what I’m talking about right? That annoying, throbbing beating when your band aid is put on super tight?)

Nonetheless, I’m good to get back to work for a couple of hours before heading out to celebrate Thanksgiving Eve with some friends. It’s gonna be a fun night!

BUT, before I go, I need give you guys a winner for my Holiday Gift Giveaway. Our lucky winner is…

#286 – Misty!

Congratulations, Misty! Please email me ASAP so I can forward you on to Christina and get you all set up to order your customized print!

In addition, I also want to thank all of you who have already contacted Christina to order or inquire about prices. I know that she is incredible grateful, and I am so happy that she is getting some of the exposure that she deserves. Smile

Alrighty guys, sorry to be so quick today, but there are important things to be done! To anyone who’s headed out this evening, have fun, don’t get yourself too hung over to not be able to enjoy the food tomorrow, and stay safe!

Questions for the Afternoon:

Will YOU be heading out this evening for Thanksgiving Eve?

Have you ever had any kitchen injuries?

I will be staying in tonight. I've been working today and I'm running a "Stuffing Strut" in the morning, so tonight I will be resting and getting ready for an early morning! Have fun and stay safe!

I have definitely sliced my finger before, and it's not pretty at all. Good think you didn't cut it deep enough to need stitches (I hope)!

My night will be similar to yours -- filled with friends, drinks and fun! ... And attempting to avoid a hangover. Happy Thanksgiving!

Wow! I gasped so hard in my head while I was reading about your cut finger. Thank you for not showing pictures- I don't tend to do well with graphic ones. I hope you're ok. No- I won't be heading out to party on Thanksgiving Eve. I just got back from getting an Adopt a Family child from Doors of Hope, went to Target to hide stuff for #518BlackFri and ate a Mini Masterpiece at Moe's- and thought of you with the soda machine. I actually told my mom about that blog post of you & Jay at Moe's. I live 5 minutes away from East Greenbush (where the big stores are). I was very close to having a kitchen injury. I dropped a glass on the tile floor (by accident) and it shattered everywhere. I was crying because some of the pieces were very close to my feet and I couldn't move or I would cut myself. I did not have socks on my feet. My sister came in, got the dogs away from the kitchen (they were in the living room at the time), and cleaned up the mess and got me "my" kitchen chair to sit on. She's 11 months YOUNGER than me! Imagine that...

All your cooking sounds so wonderful :) Sorry to hear about your cut finger! I've had a few 'kitchen injuries' - hot water burns, broken glass, touching hot trays.. eek!
