Last night on our way home from Date Night, Jay and I got to talking a little bit about running. Our friend Joey is going to be running in a 5K race on Labor Day weekend, and asked us both if we’d want to join. Well, I immediately said “SURE!” but the hubby was quick to respond with a NO WAY.
You see, the hubby does not quite enjoy running. He says he gets “bored” and wants no part of it. I’ve tried numerous times to get him to join me, but it usually ends up a failure. Hey, what can ya do?
Welllll, for starters, you can win a bet! ;) As we were listening to the radio, Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” came on the radio, but it was the remake version. Jay, feeling like he had this one in the bag, proceeded to say, “If you can tell me who sings this version of the song, then I’ll run in the 5K with you.”
MWAAAAHAHAHAHA…Little did HE know that I was well aware of the band.
After excitedly shouted “ALIEN ANT FARM!!!” (complete with arms flailing through the air and all) I thought he might have run us off the road. He had no idea I would know it. WOOOO HOOOO! Looks like it’s time to get the hubby training for a 5K! Has anyone ever tried a “Couch to 5K” program? I was thinking about looking into one for him?
This morning was a BodyPump kinda morning, but before leaving, I snacked on a small banana with a little almond butter.
BodyPump felt like such a challenge today! I don’t know what it was, but my body was workin’ it! :-D
Breakfast
My whole drive home from the gym, I had “wheatberries” on the brain, so it was pretty much a “no-brainer” on what was going to be incorporated into breakfast.
In today’s bowl:
-1/4 cup oats
-1/4 wheatberries
-1/4 cup vanilla almond milk
-1/2 cup water
-1/2 small banana, smashed
-Cinnamon & Nutmeg
-Golden Raisins
-Small handful blueberries (stirred in at the end)
Toppings for today included a drizzle (1 tbsp prepared) of PB2 (obsessed!) & some Bear Naked Fit granola. I love when the PB gets all melty. :-D
Along with my oat bowl, I enjoyed a glass of homemade iced coffee with vanilla almond milk. I contemplated stopping and picking one up on my way home from the gym, but I figured I should really try to cut back on all the extra coffee outings. It really does add up!
I’m off to the kitchen to try a new recipe with some of my Farmers Market goodies from yesterday!
Questions for the Morning:
Is your significant other more or less active than you? How do you motivate an “unmotivated” spouse?? ;)
