Lo and Behold

By Courtney 47 Comments

So last night, Jay and I did a little weeding in the garden. Actually, Jay did more than I did, but whatever…I got my hands dirty. But those weeds? Ughh…it has gotten bad, my friends. BAD. My goodness those thing can grow at a wicked pace, can’t they?

While we were out at the garden, I happened to be scoping out my tomato plants, and lo and behold…

IMG_6447

I had tomatoes! Most where cherry tomatoes, but that bigger one is from my “early girl” plant. I have soooo many other green ones out there right now and it just makes my heart happy.

Needless to say, when there’s fresh tomatoes in the house, they’ve got to be put to good use…so a salad for lunch it was!

IMG_6458

Along with my garden tomatoes was also some garden basil, as well as romaine, cucumbers, shredded carrots, avocado, and deli turkey with some Italian dressing. This was one gooooood salad.

For a little sweetness, I also threw a banana SOYJOY bar + a white peach into the mix.

IMG_6460

I was going to have a slice of zucchini oatmeal bread, but I ended up caving in to that mid-morning…and I’ll most likely have another one this afternoon. Winking smile

IMG_6451

In other news…I am loving Fifty Shades of Grey. I’m up to about chapter 23 (I think?) and am finding myself totally hooked on the book. I just finished up with one of their email conversations, and for those of you who have read it, did you pay attention to the email subject lines? They are funny.

IMG_6461

I will say that there are parts of the book that I don’t love (I always feel sort of awkward for her when she’s in such an, errr, submissive state?), but knowing (well, hearing) that the story gets better in the next two books only makes me want to read more.

I’m hooked. Smile

I actually didn't really like the book too much. I guess I felt like nothing really happened, not enough of a plot. I hadn't heard that the next two books were supposed to be better so maybe I'll give the second one a shot. And your tomatoes look beautiful!

I felt the same exact way - it was monotonous and there was absolutely no plot. Nothing made me want to keep reading, the only reason I finished the book was because I bought it.

I didn't even realize the email subjects/signatures changed from email to email until about half way through. You're right, they're pretty hilarious though! I just ordered the second one... I'm looking forward to starting it!

I found the second and third books to be much more entertaining. A lot more character and plot development which I appreciated. Did you hear they're making a movie out of this? I don't know how that will happen ;]

I'm on book two and have been listening to them on my phone. Believe me, that's a whole different experience! I actually think I would like it better if I were reading it, just no time and I do a lot of driving. Many of the things they say sound a bit corney, listening to it. Garden tomatoes are the best!!

How exciting about your tomatoes!! We own a townhome, and though the house is completely ours, we aren't responsible for/can't change the outside care of the building/yard, otherwise I would love to have a garden too! I'm excited to see if your tomatoes will turn into a zucchini-like situation...I kind of hope so haha

That book definitely sucks you in! I did find that the actual quality of the writing was atrocious in the first book. In the sense that, a 15 year old could have written something better for a high school essay (although hopefully of a different subject matter, hehe). The writing does get better in the next books though!

I loved all three books and didn't find them to be awkward at all, lol!! What they do certainly isn't my cup of tea but the books were very entertaining. After a while, I skimmed right past the risque parts and focused on the actual love story. I cannot wait for the movie but I am afraid the wrong actors will be cast and it won't be nearly as enjoyable as the books. Of course, movies never are!
