Yesterday was such a great day! It was totally a Mommy + Lucas day, which I was 100% looking forward to. Usually when it’s just the two of us at home, it means I’m working from home so I’m not able to give him my full attention. But yesterday was such a treat!
Knowing that I wanted to take full advantage of his nap time, I made sure to get up early enough so I could get my workout in for the day. I got the day started with an upper body workout from the 21-Day Fix, then took a quick shower before the little man woke up.
Once he was up, we both had our breakfast…yogurt, pancake, and a banana for him, English muffin with PB, banana, and raisins for me.
On his lion plate, too. Nice touch, right?
After breakfast, we finished getting ready for the day, then we were out the door in the negative temps (it was –7 when we left the house). Our first stop was a quick trip to Wal-Mart for a few items for daddy, a couple new clothes hampers, and (finally!) a new full-length mirror for the bedroom.
While we were there, we also strolled through the toy aisles and Lucas picked out a new car to go along with his Fisher Price Little People City Skyway he got at Christmas – he loves that thing!
After our trip to Wal-Mart, I thought it’d be fun to take advantage of our day a bit more, and we headed over to Dunkin Donuts for a little “picnic.” I packed up some grapes for him before we left, so he snacked on those, along with a couple of blueberry cake munchkins that I got for the two of us to share.
Turns out, my child actually prefers grapes over munchkins…crazy thing.
I got myself an iced coffee and let him sip on some diluted apple juice (we never have juice – or, rather “juuuu” – at home, so it was a special treat for him) while we sat and hung out for a good 20 minutes or so. I was shocked that he actually sat still for me, and we were just having such a great time. Not to mention the fact that he was loving flirting with all the women coming in and saying “Hiiii” to others. So fun!
By the time we got home, Lucas was ready for his nap so I put him down and got to work on a few things that have been on my to-do list…the first, of which, was finally filming a video tutorial on how I curl my hair with a straightener. You can check that out here!!
That was obviously before I did the tutorial
After that, I did a little extra work on the blog/computer, and ate some lunch while watching Sunday nights’ episode of The Bachelor.
Lunch was a grilled which wrap with a little light mayo (my faaaaavorite), spinach, and avocado. Simple, yet delicious.
I also, finally, opened up the Sephora perfume sampler that I got from my parents for Christmas this year (I tend to ask for one every year – love them!)
We’ll have to see if my preferences have changed at all, since these aren’t the same ones I had in last year’s sampler.
About 3 hours later, Lucas woke up from his nap and we spent the rest of the afternoon playing together until Jay got home. It was really SUCH a great day. Not only productive, but just a fun Mommy + Lucas day.
Random Question for Today: If you had today totally off from any obligations (work, school, kids, etc.) what would you do? Where would you go?
Sara @ Lake Shore Runner says
Yayyy you got a new mirror! And can’t wait for the hair tutorial. I used to curl my hair with a straightener but then went to a wand. Happy tuesday!
Melissa @ Freeing Imperfections says
I’m so glad you got to fully enjoy your day with Lucas! Seriously, the kid is crazy for not liking the blueberry munchkins! Those are my absolute favorite.
If I had today off, I’d probably get Starbucks, organize my baby-to-be’s room, paint my nails, and catch up on blogging.
Sarah @ Sarah Sincerely says
Sounds like the perfect day! I actually DID have the day off…I got in a great workout, actually had the time to clean my house properly, ran errands I’ve been neglecting and was able to get lots done. It was great!
Can’t wait to see your tutorial tomorrow!
Marielle says
Lol your cat yawning in that mirror picture is great! Haha! What a fun day with your little man, I love his sweater….so cute!!
Shel@PeachyPalate says
I’d take my mum and my niece on a spa day, evening shopping and nice dinner to round it off!
Brynn says
i cannot go any further until we talk about how cute Lucas is and his little outfit! What a handsome guy. What a fun way to spend your day. If I had a free day I would sleep in, go to yoga, lunch with my girlfriends, and go to a movie. All of the things I struggle to do currently with a four month old, ha. I’ve clearly thought about this before.
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
I need that perfume sampler!!!
Linz @ Itz Linz says
his sweater!! too cute!! i would workout, get a massage, take a looooooong hot shower, take a nap, and get my nails done – yeah, not gonna happen anytime soon lol
Rachel Schlosser says
I would get an iced chai tea latte, get a massage, go roam around Michael’s or Joann’s, and take a nice hot bath.
Stacie @ SimplySouthernStacie says
I am so excited for the tutorial! I have been wanting to know how to curl my hair with my straightener forever because I butcher my curls with a regular curling iron.
Monica says
A day off for me would be…
A morning yoga class or workout (since I have literally done neither since having Harlow), followed by a pedicure, then shopping for a while. After that, a nice late lunch, then home to watch crap TV. A massage thrown in there if I could swing it.
Traci says
An ideal day off would include some of the following: a morning workout at the gym or a yoga class, a stop for an iced coffee, a trip to Whole Foods for a hot/cold bar lunch or sushi, Target, and maybe TJMaxx or the mall if I’m feeling it, and a pedicure. Then, relaxing at home and a hot shower or bath with a book in hand and hot tea.
I actually did have yesterday off and I went for the gym workout followed by a pedicure. Then I had to go home to pack so it had to be cut short, BUT I’ll take it because I leave for vacation in the Caribbean tomorrow.
Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday says
That sounds like such a nice day! Lucas is too cute!
My perfect day off would include a morning workout, brunch with friends, shopping with my mom, and dinner with my parents… followed by some nice “chill” time in the evening catching up, playing games, and watching movies! (And it wouldn’t hurt if it was 40-50 degrees warmer on said day ;) )
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
What a fun day! So glad you got some quality time with little Lucas and were able to get some stuff done for you too! I’ve actually been craving a “me” day for awhile… My birthday is coming up, so I may have to use that as my reasoning for a day to do whatever I want with no responsibilities. ;) I would teach or go to a group fitness class, go out for brunch, get a massage and/or pedicure, do some shopping, grab some fro-yo, and happily hang out with my boys for the rest of the evening.
Emily @ Sweet Summer Smiles says
Wasn’t the Bachelor Crazy?! Makes sense why it was a 2 nighter. If I had no obligations I’d drive to Sarasota or Miami for the day and go to the beach and soak up as much relaxation as possible!
Beks says
Honestly, I’d probably just be a slug at home. I feel like I’m such a hermit most of the time. Though, I was doing some start up work for my new Jamberry business yesterday, and realized I had some stuff to buy before my first party next weekend. Guess I’ll be running errands this week! :-)
Liv @ Healthy Liv says
My perfect day would probably be…
-Sleeping in just a little and then running with my favorite running friend in the morning, followed by really thick pieces of French toast with strawberries and whipped cream (my all-time favorite breakfast!)
-A really delicious lunch- maybe a huge Greek salad with grilled chicken
-An afternoon spent baking! Maybe a fun layer cake– I love making those. And maybe a walk or some reading, which I never have time to do.
-My favorite dinner, which is lasagna, followed by dessert :)
Like how my perfect day revolves around all the delicious food? Haha!
Anna says
Looks like a great day! If I had a day off, I honestly would probably enjoy some down-time at home and Netflix binge! At some point I’d work out, I suppose :)
Abby says
Ahh all the food looks awesome, not to mention what a fun day with Lucas it must have been! I think I would workout, get a pedi, and shop (assuming I had unlimited spending money, right? ;) ) Honestly, I’d probably grocery shop too. Ha!
Cassandra Kahl says
OMG, the Elizabeth and James Nirvana White perfume is my new fave! And not just because I’m forever an MK+Ashley fan.
Annette@FitnessPerks says
This is so sweet! L and I had a morning like this last week and it was just perfect. So cool he naps for 3 hours too, lucky!
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
Glad you had a nice relaxing day! Hmm I might treat myself to a date to Target then chill at home on the couch :-) nothing too exciting!
Jessie @ Just Jessie says
A day off for me with no obligations (which never happens because I always fill my days off with random things) would probably be going for a late morning workout, getting a burrito bowl from Chipotle and sitting my butt on the couch to finish Scandal. It’s my new obsession! If it was nicer out, though, I’d probably take a super long walk. Walking calms me and I hate winter because it’s way too cold out to get outside!
Rochelle says
If I had absolutely ZERO obligations, I’d go get the massage that I’ve been holding onto for over a year. I just never have the time to go redeem my gift card :-( If I didn’t have work and the kids didn’t have school, though, I’d take them to this new place that opened up, called Get Air. It’s an indoor trampoline park and I think that my kids would really like it…I just rarely have the time that we are all available to be able to go. :-)
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
I’d do a morning workout and hit the beach. Too bad I don’t live close to a warm beach though! :) Looks like an awesome day! And I’d LOVE to have a perfume sampler like that, I’m a big perfume fan.
kristin | W [H] A T C H says
i’ve never had a signature scent but id love to dabble with a perfume sampler!
Elle says
I would workout, get a massage, eat lunch out, take a nap and have date night with the husband
Stacy @ Sweating Tulipz says
Sounds like such a fun day! If I didn’t have any obligations, I would have to say I would go to the gym, go out to breakfast with my hubby, and then take my dogs to the dog park (if it actually wasn’t winter!).
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
Yay for the Bachelor!! As an Iowa at heart, I was loving that episode! Have you seen Monday’s episode yet? I was quite please with the results :)
Julie @ A Better Life with Burgers says
So cute!! What a fun day for you two. I stay home with Marshall, but I need to plan a day or two where we just focus on having fun instead of getting a million things done!
Kristy @ Southern In Law says
Hmm, if I had a day off with no obligations I think I’d probably read – or bake – or even just do absolutely nothing and lounge on the couch with the pups because I rarely get to do that!
Lindsay says
So sweet! And I love that you got Cody mid-yawn. :)
