I’m fairly certain Jay and I will almost always have a running list of home projects to tackle. Some are large, and likely a ways away…others are bit more reasonable but may take some extra time to complete…and some are easy enough to tackle over a weekend.
Just like this little mudroom closet makeover!
It was about two years ago now when Jay built our custom cubbies for the mudroom, so we already have a good amount of space to hang coats and whatnot. And while we certainly still like having a small closet in that area, it was just an absolute disaster and almost always had crap practically falling out at you when you opened up.
So I showed him a couple of ideas that I found on Pinterest that I liked, and sure enough, he went and made it happen.
Now we have a dedicated space for the vacuum, a small space to hang an extra coat or two for each of us, and some more (much needed!) shelf space.
We’re going to put some mop hooks/holders like these on the inside of the door to hold the broom and swiffer, and I’m also going to look for a few other basket options to hold various things like some of my essential oils, cleaning products, hats, sunscreens…basically all of the STUFF that needs to be around but needs a home. I’m so excited!
When we (I say that lightly…I didn’t help at ALL besides show him what I wanted) weren’t working on the closet on Saturday, we were playing around the house, grabbing groceries, going to swim lessons, and jumping off the couches onto “obstacle courses” which I’m typically TOTALLY against, but it was just a crappy weather day and these guys needed to moooove.
Thank goodness, the weather got its act together by Sunday, so we were able to spend lots of time outside to let the boys run around and get some fresh air.
Of course, baby couldn’t miss out on the fun, and I laughed out loud when I saw Alex turn the corner pushing his baby in the stroller.
We even uncovered the boys’ sandbox (since the makeshift tarps and plywood we had put over them were really not doing much good anymore at this point), and I was excited to see it wasn’t in horrible shape!
I also got a few hours out of the house BY MYSELF on Sunday, which oh my lorrrrd, let me tell you…it was SO needed. Do not get me wrong, I absolutely adore my children…but I told Jay yesterday morning that I felt like I was drowning from motherhood.
Having Lucas sick all last week was tough, and it had my anxiety on high alert. Thank goodness he’s recovered, but that also meant that the sweet innocence of having a sick kiddo was gone, and that the ‘tude was back in full force. And was. it. ever. On top of that, my sweet Alex appears to be diving head first into the “threenager” stage, and I swear, if I don’t start growing grey hairs by the end of this year, it’ll be a miracle. Between the constant whining, the “mommy!…mommy!…MOMMY!!”, the attachment, and the attitude…it’s just been a bit of a challenging phase.
Ahh, the ebbs and flows of parenthood, right? While right now is a bit of a rough patch, I’m sure things will be totally different in a few months.
At least I hope. ; )
Thankfully, Jay could tell that I needed a bit of a break, so he held down the fort with the kids while I went out, grabbed an iced coffee, stopped at Michaels for a few new things for work, then made my way over to our new office to get my new desk set up!
Here she is when I arrived…
Oh, hayyyy, purple chair! <3
This was my first time being able to set foot in the office, and wow, it’s pretty sweet. Very, very different from our last office, but I’m looking forward to the change.
It was fairly quiet, so I just sat for a while, unboxed all of my stuff that had been packed up from the old office, and arranged everything so it’d be ready for Monday.
To help make things feel a little more “homey,” I got the two new faux plants, the flowers (seen above), and a few new picture frames. All of the plants/flowers were 40% off right now at Michaels, FYI (then again, when are they not on sale?).
The only things I’m missing and need to get my hands on now are my keyboard and mouse…ha!
I hope you guys all had an awesome weekend, and I’ll catch up with you later this week. Promise! <3
