New Old Navy Finds

By Courtney 28 Comments

Well hey, looks like we all survived April Fools’ Day! I saw/heard a few good pranks throughout the day, but I was on high alert so I didn’t wind up falling for any. There were a couple food related ones that I saw though, that made me totally cringe…i.e., using mayonnaise as “pudding” topped with sprinkles, and and filling Oreos with toothpaste. Oh mannn…I was would be suuuuuuper PO’d if that happened to me! Nobody messes with an Oreo, right??

So I actually wasn’t planning on posting today because I hadn’t had anything planned, but I found myself with a little extra time yesterday evening after a certain toddler didn’t wind up napping at all during the day and was more than ready for bed by 7pm (it’s been more like 8pm these days). And here we are!

Yesterday was one of those days where I just really needed to get out of the office for a bit. End of the month can get pretty busy for me, and after staring at my computer screen for the whole morning, I knew I needed a little fresh air and sunlight. So I actually headed out on my lunch hour for a quick trip to Old Navy.

By the way, you guys all had some amazing recommendations on shorts from Friday, so thank you all for that! I’m planning on checking out the LOFT the next time they’re having one of their awesome sales (Sarah, Kanika…I’m counting on you two to let me know!), since it sounds like a lot of you love ‘em from there. But for now, I actually ended up finding a couple of pairs at Old Navy, too.

Despite the fact that the length is a bit shorter than I thought I’d want, I left the store with a pair of these boyfriend cuffed denim shorts, and these black linen shorts. You guys, the linen shorts? Freakin’ awesome. I bought a pair last year in olive green and they were the most comfortable things EVER. I knew buying them in black would be ideal so they’ll match more easily, and I have a feeling they will wind up being a weekend staple for me this summer. LOVE.

I also bought this ribbon-trim sleeveless top in the two colors below because, well, when I find a top I like, I tend to try to get as many as possible apparently. The tops fit great (loose, but not baggy) and will be perfect for work, weekends, and layering. Score!

Another shirt I bought in two colors (see, I wasn’t kidding) was this split-neck pocket tee. Again, loose fitting, and definitely something I’ll throw on once I got home from work or wear on weekends. Casual without being sloppy, and will look great with denim or my wicked comfy linen shorts up there. I also think it’d look cute layered with a denim jacket or paired with simple white bottoms, too.

I was also pretty close to buying this split-neck pullover in white, even though I never would have pinned it for a shirt I’d like by looking at it on the model online. Unfortunately, the medium was too big and the XS fit funny…and of course, they were out of smalls. I guess I’ll just have to go back with the super cash I earned, because I’ve also got my eye on this tank too. You really just can’t beat those Old Navy prices, ya know?! Winking smile

How about you guys? Have you made any fun, spring fashion purchases lately?

Alright, looks like Modern Family is about to come on TV and I have a bowl of Nestle Crunch Eggs that are calling my name…

loft shorts are the best. I just snagged a pair last weekend and cannot wait to wear them. I've never tried Old Navy shorts but the linen style sounds like a great one to check out!

Loft has the cutest shorts right now. Sadly, they just don't fit me right : ( Old Navy shorts on the other hand have a long history of being my favorite, so I'm probably going to be heading that way this weekend.

Glad to hear you found some shorts! Hopefully you'll be OK with the length of the inseam after wearing them - I've had Old Navy shorts in that length before and they seemed to fit pretty well. I just recently received some American Eagle shorts in the mail (can't ever seem to find time to get to the stores anymore) and I really hope they'll work well this summer. I have a couple pairs from last summer that are still in great shape, so I hope the new ones fit well too. I've also been eyeing some sandals on various sites - better order soon before they're all out of stock! I do need to find some decent summer tops for work too ...

I'm glad you found some good shorts! I'll have to try those linen ones. Shorts and I are NOT friends, so to find comfy shorts is a big deal to me. This is making me itch to get back into regular clothes after months of not-so-fun maternity clothes!

I love that you love Old Navy! I am obsessed with all things GAP, Old Navy and Banana Republic (for work) and being 6 months pregnant, you cant' beat the prices for Maternity wear that still keep you stylin' but not 'massively preggo's looking!' Ohhh Modern Family was pretty good last night, it's the one show my husband will actually watch with me, and I must say I treated myself to some mini-eggs last night..tis the season..lol

Our local Old Navy closed down about four years ago. I'm still in mourning. You must go back for that twist tank. So cute!

Cute finds, Court! I feel like Old Navy has really stepped up their game the last couple years, and I actually tend to find some good stuff there on a regular basis. I do feel like every once in awhile certain things are overpriced (for Old Navy), but they have some killer sales so that's when I usually take advantage. I've been starting to stock up on maxi dresses and skirts, stretchy linen shorts (you're right - they're SO comfy!), and a couple pairs of maternity shorts (which, by the way, CUTE ones are super difficult to find) as my belly is growing by the minute. It's going to be verrrry interesting having a huge belly in the AZ summer, so I'm going to be all about comfy and cool!

We were just wandering around Old Navy last night! While I didn't check out the shorts, I did love lots of tops and dresses. Come on, spring! As for shorts, I've had a lot of luck with J.Crew Outlets. A great fit at a great price!

I love Old Navy's prices, you're right that they can't be beat, especially for staples. I just ordered a bunch of maternity clothes from there so I'm crossing my fingers some of it works out!

I totally bought the split neck pullover shirt in white a couple of weeks ago and loved it so much that I went back and got it in pink and black too...I guess I have the same problem that you do when you find a top you really like. I'd definitely encourage you to go back and get it...they are sooo comfortable and just the best thing to throw on, pretty much whenever!

Courtney, Did you but the tops in a small or medium? Also what about the linen shorts? Old navy shrinks sometimes I'm leaning towards a med in shorts and small tall in tops. I'm 5'8 and 145. Thanks!

Hey Katie! I did mediums across the board. Sometimes I go small with the tops, but like you said, I like to make sure there's extra room in case something shrinks. ;)

Hey Courtney, you've made a very nice blog post. I really enjoyed reading new old navy find. I just like those tops collection. Recently I've also purchased some summer cloth collection from Opal. They provide great value of moeny by providing nice design clothes.
