So as I mentioned last Friday, we’ve moved out of our friends’ house and are now currently living with my parents. We were sad to have to say goodbye to friends, and having to do an extra move certainly was not enjoyable, but we all agreed that with our crazy schedules it was just the right time. Thankfully, we’re fairly re-settled once again, and my parents have been great.
Only 30 more days…please, only 30 more days! I’m ready to have our own space again.
As sad as we were to leave our friends, I’m not going to lie…I’m also missing their awesome basement gym! I haven’t lifted weights in almost two weeks and wow, do I miss it. Knowing that Kanika and Shaheen had weights at their house, I went ahead and packed all of my freeweights up…and now it’s anyone’s guess as to where they are…
I’m hoping to do somewhat of a “basement dive” within the next few days to try and see if I can find them. And in addition to that, I’m seriously on the hunt for a barbell + some weights to use for my Les Mills Pump DVD’s…but apparently, it’s SUPER hard to find one?!
All I’m able to find lately are Olympic sized barbells, which are much larger than I’d prefer. So for all of my fellow Pump lovers (and teachers of it!) out there, do any of you know the best place to find smaller barbells like they use for Pump???
*Edited to add: I recently came across this barbell set and this barbell set. Do either of these look like the standard size they use in Pump (I can’t remember)? Are they overpriced?
So, in the meantime, I’ve been completely without weights. And while I let that be an excuse for a day or two, I realized that I needed to get back into it with some bodyweight exercises. Luckily, I have a fairly good arsenal of workouts, so I wanted to share them with you guys today!
All of these are NO EQUIPMENT NEEDED, so just grab some space and get movin’.

Beachbody/Online Workout Videos
Of course, I always have my Beachbody workouts and a couple other online videos too, which are great. Some of my favorites:
- T25 (alpha and beta)
- PiYo (loooove)
- Insanity Max30 (crazy intense bodyweight only)
- 21 Day Fix Cardio
- 10lb Slimdown Kickboxing (always a favorite, just did it yesterday)
How about you guys? What are some of your favorite bodyweight/no equipment needed workouts?

i am traveling with my family for two weeks so this post is perfect timing! So far I’ve used YouTube and gone on walks/runs for workouts

The second barbell set you listed (Don Oliver) from Amazon is what our facility still uses for pump classes (a lot of paces have moved toward the more expensive smart bar). If you know someone with Amazon Prime, it might be worth it to have them buy it so you don’t have to pay shipping! Good luck!

I love body weight workouts since u can do them pretty much anywhere! The tone it up website has some great HIIT workouts!
Stacie @ SimplySouthernStacie says
I love quick HIIT workouts whenever I don’t feel like using weights. Working out with no equipment always forces you to be a little creative!
Linz @ Itz Linz says
i led a 15 minute workout twice a week at school for teachers and we only had access to one set of dumbbells so i had fun trying to get creative in coming up with different bodyweight exercises – it definitely can be done!

this came at PERFECTLY the right time for me! I’ve really been struggling with working out if I can’t make it to the gym “because I can’t do the workouts I planned without weights” <- totally an excuse but I don't know how to come up with this stuff myself. THANK YOU SO MUCH <3
Beth Quill says
Thanks for the inspiration! It’s really tough for me to get myself motivated to do anything and you are quite inspirational working out alone. I generally need someone yelling at me or the camaraderie of a class to keep me going. I’m sure it’s MUCH tougher to get to classes after you have kids.
Also- I’ve been thinking for your house (since I live in an apartment and no hope of buying here in DC) maybe a She Shed? http://www.popsugar.com/home/She-Shed-Inspiration-37474692. A girl can dream. Can’t wait to see the finished house!!

I almost bought pump dvds and weights after Ethan was born. They both seemed a little pricey, but maybe after baby #2 I can score a deal on Craigslist or something.

I love using Pinterest for just body weight workouts, and I search fun bloggers such as yourself for ones as well. BTW – I think you’re handling this move way better than I ever would. I’d be huddled in a corner breathing into a paper bag right about now :)

The set from Amazon looks pretty much identical to the sets I’ve seen/used in the gym! I love yoga for a no equipment workout!
Amanda says
Agreeing with some of the previous comments, the Don Oliver set from Amazon is what we use at my gym for Body Pump!

When I moved I was completely without weights for a couple of months, which was so frustrating! I did some online classes from My Yoga Works, Physique 57 (some of their classes don’t required weights), barre3, Zumba and PiYo. I also have a few videos I made on my YouTube channel requiring no equipment so it was fun to go back and look at those and remind myself of what to do!
Alyssa @ Renaissancerunnergirl says
It’s so interesting because I am the total opposite in that every exercise I do along with running is isometrics, using just your own body weight, because those are the kinds of stretching and strengthening I did as a gymnast where your body is your tool. I’ve never really done weights at all!
Heather @ Life In Leggings says
Ahhhh that basement of boxes reminds me of when we moved from Florida to Michigan. Our stuff was everywhere and then locked up in storage for a month. Luckily, we were living in a hotel that had a gym (well… I say luckily on the fitness front…) I hope you find your stuff soon!
Danielle @ The Soul Simple Life says
I am a big fan of the traditional jumping jacks, high knees and butt kicks to get a little cardio in. I also love side planks and curtsy squats – hurts so good!
Niki @ Life With Niki says
I often have to make do with no equipment for workouts, however it doesn’t mean you can’t get in a good sweat! I love youtube videos and body weight tabatas. I have always wanted to try PiYo, chalene johnson is my fave! Shaun T’s workouts are also awesome, even though I feel as though he is trying to kill me :P.

I’ve been all about adding plyo’s into my weekly workouts. I think the dynamic exercises let you have a fast and efficient workout, which is perfect for me to add to my running routine! Hope you have a great week!

courtney, Walmart online sells body bars for pretty cheap (and free shipping). they’re just weighted bars. I got like a 10, 15 and 20lb bar to do body pump style workouts at home, they’re great.
Lisa says
I love body pump at my gym but at times can only make it once a week so I would also like an at-home option. I just purchased the Kayla itsines guide, her workouts look great!

We’re going on vacation soon, so I’ll definitely be using lots of bodyweight workouts. My favorite is Gina’s Hiit Scorcher http://fitnessista.com/2014/05/hiit-scorcher/

I’m obsessed with the website ‘FitnessBlender’ they have sooo many workouts and you can choose no weights, yoga, pilates, anything really. ALL FREE! And they have an app! I looked into a set of weights and a bar from Fitness Depot which came with pretty much the same weights as what you would use in BodyPump so you could try that????
The workouts you pinned look awesome though! Can’t wait to try them!
