Pretend Camping and A Weekend At Home

By Courtney 10 Comments

Ohhh, weekend. You were beautiful. Why’d ya have to go so soon?

IMG_4265

We actually didn’t have much of anything on the agenda for our whole weekend, which was totally fine with me. We had tossed around the idea of going to check out a local fair that was happening but we were lame and never left the house. Ahh well.

Instead, we hung out at home and enjoyed the beautiful weather! My parents came over Saturday morning to help again with cutting down MORE brush and trees in the backyard. Some day, we’ll get there.

IMG_4255

Then later in the afternoon/evening, we decided to have some fun and set up a little tent for some pretend “camping” out in the backyard!

IMG_4230

I got the idea to have some fun with it thanks to FLYJOY (who is kindly sponsoring a portion of this post!), and as part of my partnership with FLYJOY and their 2016 Microadventure Campaign, we were asked to have a “Camping Mini Adventure.”

IMG_4233

So we may not have been “sleeping under the stars,” so to speak, but we did still have some fun!

IMG_4246

We played some of our favorite games (including Simon Says, hide and seek, and “I Spy”) and I brought out a bunch of different snacks for us to enjoy.

IMG_4241

For me, it was a peanut butter and jelly FLYJOY bar (<—they’re my favorite!). Have you tried ‘em yet??

IMG_4279

Oh, and bonus: they’re non-GMO, gluten-free, soy-free, vegan, and Kosher D certified.

IMG_4250

So since Lucas has the attention span of (enter whatever species has a minimal one HERE), he didn’t last too long in our tent. Instead, he was either running around like a mad man…

IMG_4266

Getting himself all nice and dirty by making “dirt bombs”…

IMG_4274

Or hanging out with daddy in this super cool Roo Kammok.

IMG_4263

We’ve been having fun on this thing all summer long, so they’re definitely not ONLY for camping!

IMG_7712

Lucas loves getting all cozy in it.

IMG_7728

IMG_7730

Ahhhhh Smile

IMG_4267

Even though Lucas didn’t last all that long in the tent with me, I still had my buddy Alex keeping me company.

IMG_4281

My buddy who, by the way, turned three months on Saturday. Mind boggling, I’ll tell ya.

IMG_4287

So it may not have been a “legit” camping experience for us, but we still had some fun pretending while it lasted! So thanks again, FLYJOY, for encouraging us to stop being lame and getting us to do fun things! I’m looking forward to what’s in store for us next. Winking smile

IMG_4285

As for the rest of Saturday, it included some babywearing, some wine, a cranky toddler, and pizza.

IMG_4315

The pizza was delishhhh.

IMG_4317

On Sunday, I awoke to the realization that I had slept in until almost 8:15, which was wonderful (I had gotten a wakeup call at 5:15am before that). I was in a productive mood, so I did some cleaning around the kitchen and also made up a batch of Brittany’s Blueberry Muffin Larabar Balls which are SO GOOD(!!).

IMG_8396

FYI: I ordered most of the ingredients for them off of iHerb.com, which was some of the cheaper prices I could find!

Jay also made us an amazing breakfast of bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches on bagels that he ran out and picked up from the store…along with some iced coffee.

IMG_8398

That breakfast was INCREDIBLE, and also kept me full for hours. Right through, and long after, my workout too!

IMG_8405

Capris & top from Fabletics!

As for the rest of Sunday, I took care of the grocery shopping (alone – WOO HOO!), and we did a lot of playing down in the basement. Lucas has become obsessed with this new toy!

IMG_8400

We also had a “picnic” dinner outside.

IMG_8412

And I had a fun Usborne Books party last night, too! Which just so happened to include some Ben & Jerry’s Milk & Cookies ice cream, which was thoroughly enjoyed while partying.

IMG_8414

P.S. – once again, not scooping it out of the container was a baaaaaad idea. Winking smile

Whew! So there ya have it – a look at our weekend! How about you guys? What did you have going on? Anything fun or exciting??

Sounds like a fun weekend! I always say I'm going to take a few bites of ice cream and then regret not scooping out a dish. We enjoyed the first fall-ish weekend with lots of activities including a baseball game, birthday party and Fall Festival!

Saturday night I had dinner with a friend and her kids that I haven't seen in a few months because she lives out of town. It was great to spend some time with them. Then Sunday morning I went out for brunch with some friends. Afterwards my boyfriend and I hung out for awhile.

What a fun idea! You definitely had such a nice weekend and it looks like the weather cooperated too. I'm ready for cooler weather in our area so we can enjoy the outside too.

I kind of love the idea of daytime back yard "camping" and might have to set this up when our temps cool down just a bit. I think my kids would get the biggest kick out of it! Ben & Jerry's while hosting a party sounds like the best awful idea ever, lol! I would have gone through the entire pint, I'm sure of it!

I'm glad to hear that you're having a great weekend! And my greatest weakness is ice cream, so after reading this post I am going to grab myself an ice cream and indulge with its creamy goodness!
