Ohhh, weekend. You were beautiful. Why’d ya have to go so soon?
We actually didn’t have much of anything on the agenda for our whole weekend, which was totally fine with me. We had tossed around the idea of going to check out a local fair that was happening but we were lame and never left the house. Ahh well.
Instead, we hung out at home and enjoyed the beautiful weather! My parents came over Saturday morning to help again with cutting down MORE brush and trees in the backyard. Some day, we’ll get there.
Then later in the afternoon/evening, we decided to have some fun and set up a little tent for some pretend “camping” out in the backyard!
I got the idea to have some fun with it thanks to FLYJOY (who is kindly sponsoring a portion of this post!), and as part of my partnership with FLYJOY and their 2016 Microadventure Campaign, we were asked to have a “Camping Mini Adventure.”
So we may not have been “sleeping under the stars,” so to speak, but we did still have some fun!
We played some of our favorite games (including Simon Says, hide and seek, and “I Spy”) and I brought out a bunch of different snacks for us to enjoy.
For me, it was a peanut butter and jelly FLYJOY bar (<—they’re my favorite!). Have you tried ‘em yet??
Oh, and bonus: they’re non-GMO, gluten-free, soy-free, vegan, and Kosher D certified.
So since Lucas has the attention span of (enter whatever species has a minimal one HERE), he didn’t last too long in our tent. Instead, he was either running around like a mad man…
Getting himself all nice and dirty by making “dirt bombs”…
Or hanging out with daddy in this super cool Roo Kammok.
We’ve been having fun on this thing all summer long, so they’re definitely not ONLY for camping!
Lucas loves getting all cozy in it.
Ahhhhh
Even though Lucas didn’t last all that long in the tent with me, I still had my buddy Alex keeping me company.
My buddy who, by the way, turned three months on Saturday. Mind boggling, I’ll tell ya.
So it may not have been a “legit” camping experience for us, but we still had some fun pretending while it lasted! So thanks again, FLYJOY, for encouraging us to stop being lame and getting us to do fun things! I’m looking forward to what’s in store for us next.
As for the rest of Saturday, it included some babywearing, some wine, a cranky toddler, and pizza.
The pizza was delishhhh.
On Sunday, I awoke to the realization that I had slept in until almost 8:15, which was wonderful (I had gotten a wakeup call at 5:15am before that). I was in a productive mood, so I did some cleaning around the kitchen and also made up a batch of Brittany’s Blueberry Muffin Larabar Balls which are SO GOOD(!!).
FYI: I ordered most of the ingredients for them off of iHerb.com, which was some of the cheaper prices I could find!
Jay also made us an amazing breakfast of bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches on bagels that he ran out and picked up from the store…along with some iced coffee.
That breakfast was INCREDIBLE, and also kept me full for hours. Right through, and long after, my workout too!
Capris & top from Fabletics!
As for the rest of Sunday, I took care of the grocery shopping (alone – WOO HOO!), and we did a lot of playing down in the basement. Lucas has become obsessed with this new toy!
We also had a “picnic” dinner outside.
And I had a fun Usborne Books party last night, too! Which just so happened to include some Ben & Jerry’s Milk & Cookies ice cream, which was thoroughly enjoyed while partying.
P.S. – once again, not scooping it out of the container was a baaaaaad idea.
Whew! So there ya have it – a look at our weekend! How about you guys? What did you have going on? Anything fun or exciting??
