Rachel & Steve’s Wedding, Part 2…Party Time!

By Courtney 11 Comments

Alright, let’s jump right back in to the rest of Rachel & Steve’s Wedding!

We last left off at the conclusion of their ceremony. Shortly after that concluded, the bridal party stayed behind to take some photos, and then we headed over to join in on the reception at Colonie Golf & Country Club. Look who I happened to find there…

He cleans up pretty nice. Winking smile

We all had a little bit of time to hang out at the cocktail hour before the actual reception was going to begin, so the girls and I all grabbed a drink before being announced.

Unfortunately, none of the photos of our entrances came out very well but I guess I’m okay with that since I probably looked a bit like a tool anyways.

The bride and groom shared their first dance, and then we all headed back to our seats for dinner.

My lovely tablemates at table number 1!

Right here, my friends, is the one and only photo of food I bothered to take the entire day. I ordered the chicken dish for dinner and it was delicious – granted, anything would have tasted delicious at that point because I was beyond starving – but I swear, it was really good.

Shortly after dinner, Rach & Steve had their cake cutting, followed by their family dances.

IMG_3763

I say family dance because that’s exactly what it was, and it was beautiful. Back when we were in college, Rachel lost her father to a long battle with leukemia. But rather than just omit the idea of her having a special dance at her wedding, she decided to have a family dance with her mom, sister, and three brothers.

IMG_3770

It was such a sweet and emotional point in the wedding day.

IMG_3774

Needless to say, I was a basket case (probably along with the rest of the room), so it was a perfectly time surprise when Rachel’s three younger brothers decided to lighten the mood a bit with their own special dance for Rachel and Steve.

IMG_3780

Their props and “Lil’ John” costume were absolutely perfect and they had the entire room cracking up. I loved it.

IMG_3782

As soon as the boys were done with their performance, the DJ cranked up the tunes and the dance party began.

It’s no surprise that the dance floor was bustlin’ all night, thanks to the incredible DJ Greg Frasier. Greg was actually the DJ for our wedding reception, and Jay and I have been recommending him ever since to anyone and everyone. He’s the BEST.

IMG_3833

Plus, I mean, anyone who plays some “Call Me Maybe” is a-okay in my book. Winking smile

IMG_3802

The night continued on…the boys were amusing, as always.

IMG_3828

That’s better. Winking smile

And the laughs and stellar dance moves continued right up until the very last song.

IMG_3821

(For those of you who wanted a hair pic – this is as close as I’ve got!)

IMG_3824

I’m not quite sure what this move is of mine…still coming up with a name.

IMG_3822

My gosh, we had SUCH a good time and I was so honored to be a part of such a special day for Rachel and Steve.

IMG_3827

Once the reception was over, we all caught a school bus shuttle back to the hotel, had quite a few good laughs, continued the party at the hotel bar, ordered in a couple of nasty, late-night pizzas (but ate them anyways because we were hungry), and then crashed pretty hard after that. It was a LONG, fun-filled day, indeed! Smile

Gorgeous! I love the idea of a family dance. I would have been a basket case too. In fact, I'm always a basket case at weddings when the father/daughter dance comes on. It didn't help that the one we went to last night played the same song my dad and I danced to!

The family dance is an absolutely beautiful idea. I can imagine I'd be crying my eyes out as I did that even with the daddy-daughter dance at my friends wedding last weekend. <3
