It’s amazing what a little nice weather will do for the soul. That, combined with some good fun with friends and delicious food, makes for one heck of a weekend. As I’m sitting down to type this on Sunday evening…and this is probably one of the first times I’ve really sat all day…I’m feeling pretty pooped. Plus, I need to have this finished by 9pm because Secrets and Lies is coming on and I. Can’t. Wait.
So for today’s post, I’m going to keep things simple with one sentence per picture…
Friday night spent painting my nails, sipping wine, and watching TV curled up under a blanket was everything I could have asked for.
An impromptu kiddo and adult play date with Kanika, Shaheen, and Kaura made for a fantastic Saturday afternoon and evening.
These two are gonna be best buds, whether they realize it yet or not…and Lucas is wearing PJ pants because we had a little blueberry explosion on the other pants.
Crackers with mascarpone cheese topped with fig jam is seriously THE JAM.
Having friends who agree that takeout Italian for dinner is never a bad thing is always a good thing.
I will heart chicken parm and eggplant parm for every and always.
The adults had fun breaking out old some old school Mario Kart, but I quickly discovered how BAD I’ve become at that game.
Then again…trying to play Mario Kart with a view like this and having someone trying to snag your steering wheel can make things rather difficult, I suppose.
Sunday morning started with homemade pancakes courtesy of Jay, and they were exactly the way I wanted to start my day.
Sunday was THE most beautiful day we’d had around here in probably 6 months.
As promised, we got outside late in the morning to play, and were outside for the majority of the day right up until dinner time.
Lucas got so big over the winter that we had to take the floor out from the bottom of his car so he could fit.
We took all the patio furniture out from the shed and enjoyed a nice lunch outside.
And while Lucas napped, mommy spent the entire time hanging out on the back deck and ended up getting a little sunburned. Oops.
After Lucas’s nap, we promptly packed into the car and headed out for our first cone of the season from The Snowman!
Orange and vanilla twist with rainbow sprinkles for me and Jay…and a little orange and vanilla twist in a dish for Lucas.
He tried acting like he didn’t want the ice cream at first, but as soon as he finally took a taste, there was no stopping him. He housed it, just like his mama.
After getting our ice cream, we stopped at the park and I swear, if I pushed a swing once, I pushed it 1,000 times yesterday.
And slides are now definitely a new favorite “thing” this year.
When we got home from the park, it was more time spent outside, and Lucas loved trying to “help” Jay wash the cars.
And then, eventually, it was dinner time.
BLAT’s with sweet potato fries…which, if you’ve been checking out our weekly meal plans, you’ve probably noticed that these are basically a weekly thing for us lately. Can’t get enough of ‘em!
Wooo Hooo! Time is 8:58…finished just in time for my show, baby!
So I’m gonna jet, but I hope you guys all had a wonderful weekend and have a great week ahead! Did you guys have anything fun happening?

The sun was out all weekend and we enjoyed it to the fullest! It was a long winter, so the beautiful weather brought everyone out. And I agree, a nice quiet night on the couch with some wine can be so refreshing and relaxing.
Ash Diamond says
Our weather was BRILLIANT this weekend so we spent a ton of time outside. In fact, the weekend felt like one long date. Pretty wonderful!
Heather @Fit n Cookies says
We had gorgeous weather too yesterday and we spent it all outside. I loved the mood it put me in and I ate so much healthier!
Stacie @ SimplySouthernStacie says
Yay for ice cream season! I’ve been hearing the ice cream truck in my neighborhood everyday for the past week. There’s just something about that sound that is so nostalgic.
Torry @ A world Without Wheat says
Looks like you had a wonderful weekend – we had nice weather too. I feel like all I did this past weekend was run around and eat!
Linz @ Itz Linz says

haley @Cupcakes and Sunshine says
Lucas is such a cutie!! Love his little blue car!
Britt@MyOwnBalance says
I love love fig jam! It is the best for making sweet/savory combos! I use it to make fig pizzas.
Courtney says
That sounds incredible! What else do you put on these said fig pizzas?? ;)
tiff @ love, sweat, & beers says
If a toddler needs to change his pants on account of an explosion, I’d rather it be a blueberry explosion.
Annette@FitnessPerks says
Awwww what a fun weekend! It sounds & looks like a good one. I love sunshine & slides with kids–the best. Lucas looks like he had so much fun at the park!
We have panini’s at least once a week with sweet potato fries as well–so easy & delicious!
Liv@ Healthy Liv says
I love the addition of avocado to your BLTs! YUM!
Kelsey Bjelland says
I MAY have planned my evening last night around Ryan Phillipe’s abs.. I mean Secrets and Lies.. too! Haha! It is so intense! I keep wondering how they will continue the show though… maybe it’s just a mini series rather than a show meant to last several seasons? What do you think?
Courtney says
Bahahaha, his abs! <3 I know, I was wondering the same thing. I feel like it'd be hard to keep a full show going, but if it is only a mini series I'll be super sad. I am in LOVE with this show!! And I can't get over how tense I get while I watch it, haha.
Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday says
I used to love helping my dad wash the car, too ;) And I still love swinging! I totally don’t blame you for the recurring BLTAs and sweet potato fries – that sounds delicious. Have a great Monday!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
Glad you had a nice weekend! Good weather always makes a big difference. We had gorgeous weather too…it actually wasn’t crazy hot! ;)
I’ve determined that avocado is always a must on my BLT sandwiches now – so good!
Danica @ It's Progression says
MarioKart is the best video game. My husband and I came across it when we were moving last year and had a blast playing it again for a little while.
Those BLATs sound awesome – may need to add those to our meal plan for this week or next!
Alyssa @ Renaissancerunnergirl says
That ice cream cone looks EXACTLY like the soft serve with rainbow sprinkles I always chased down Mister Softee to get! And I too enjoyed some pancakes this weekend, homemade is even better than going to a diner because you get a lazy PJs morning while you munch.
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
The weather was unbelievably beautiful here in Northern California over the weekend, so a lot of time was spent outside! I also did a little shopping and had a little vino. (And Italian food and fig jam are two of my favorite things!) Happy Monday! :)
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
Agreed sister! Good weather is GREAT for the soul!!! We love to do cream cheese with a jalapeno jelly/jam and crackers! Your combo looks delicious as well! Will have to try it!
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
It sounds like you guys had a fun weekend. You can’t go wrong with pancakes and ice cream.
Melissa @ Freeing Imperfections says
The warm weather over the weekend and yesterday was AWESOME! That organge swirl ice cream sounds amazing. I also got ice cream over the weekend. It was just too nice :)

I spent Saturday cleaning, and OMG. Could I feel it on Sunday. but living in an old house means spring cleaning is a must, as is opening all the windows to get that glorious, crisp Spring air blowing through the house. This weekend, we tackle the upstairs, God help us. ;-)
And I’ve never had a cone with Sprinkles, but I really want to try it now.
Courtney says
You’ve never had sprinkles on a cone?!?!?!? Oh Beks, you must try it ASAP!!!
