So last night’s session at the gym went really, really well!
I had my first two small group sessions to teach, and they were both awesome. I’m telling you, I was literally on Cloud 9 the entire time. I absolutely loved it! I actually had to chuckle to myself at one point because one of the girls in my first group mentioned something about how she was kind of disappointed to see that a girl was teaching because, as she put it, “wanted a tough workout.”
Oh really?
Well, I had them huffin’ and puffin’ and by the end of it, she actually admitted that I made her “eat her own words.” So for it being my first session, that definitely helped put a little extra pep in my step for the night!

I wasn’t totally sure how the food situation was going to go for the evening, so I brought a few things with me. First, I packed up two scoops of vanilla SunWarrior + 1/2 a banana.
Since my gym actually makes drinks and smoothies, I was able to just add some ice and use their lust-worthy blender to make myself a protein shake. I also added in a little strawberry juice, which made it extra delicious. I think this will most definitely be a go-to option.
I also brought a banana flavored SOYJOY bar with me, which I had a little later in the evening.
When I got home around 8:30pm, I was a little hungry so I ended up having a VitaTop with some peanut butter and about a serving of Peanut Butter Cheerios. It wasn’t exactly the most balanced meals I’ve had, but it’s a work in progress. I’m sure it’ll take some experimenting to figure things out.

This morning, I woke up feeling, well, slightly like death. My suspicions of a cold have proven true, and I did not get a very good nights’ sleep thanks to the constant stream coming from my nose.
I’m now sporting the lovely Rudolph look, but I’m trying my best to work through it and kick it to the curb. Besides, I really had no choice but to get up and get moving; I had to be back to work at 6am for a quick, three hour shift. I didn’t have any clients or group sessions, so I did a little more shadowing, but as soon as my shift was over, I scooted back home to make some breakfast.
The first thing I reached for, however, was my coffee. All set and waiting for me, which was spectacular. What is it about warm beverages when you’re sick? I just love it.
For breakfast, I went the quick & easy route and made an egg, provolone, and jam sandwich on a toasted whole wheat English muffin.
I also cut up an orange to have on the side…gotta get that Vitamin C!
Today is a split shift day of work for me, and I was originally planning on coming home and doing a workout, but I think I’m going to have to switch gears. I am really not feelin’ a workout right now…what I AM feeling is a nap. So that’s where I’m headed!
Zzzzzzzz.
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
Hope you feel better!
Have you told your clients about your blog or are you keeping work/blogging seperate?
Courtney says
No, I’m going to keep them separate. I think I’d just prefer to leave it that way, for now at least.

Care @HealthierGirl says
Funny… I think I prefer to work out with female trainers (sorry, men). I just have had better experiences with them, I guess. And, females can definitely push hard as it sounds like you have proven!
Hope you feel better!
Andrea @ Andrea Out Loud! says
Awesome! And I am so glad you are enjoying this!! And awesome you kicked her butt and made her work hard :)
chelcie @ chelcie's food files says
I’m sorry your not feeling well Courtney! I don’t know if you’ve ever taken Zicam? But its seriously my number one go-to medicine when I have a cold! I swear when I take it my cold goes away in about 2 days! My uncle who is a doctor recommended it to me and I’ve been hooked ever since!
Courtney says
I’ve already taken my Zicam this morning ;)

That orange looks amazing! And your smoothie looks good too!

I love reading about how you navigate working unusual hours throughout the day. Between class and school, I find myself in interesting eating patterns all the time…you motivate me to eat healthier! Keep it up, it sounds like you’re already an aweomse trainer. :)
Olivia says
That looks like a great idea, and what an awesome perk – to be able to make smoothies in an awesome blender at work!! I jealous!
Carissa says
Yeah! I love when people underestimate tough female trainers!! Way yo go!
I hope my cold didn’t virtually get you!! Boooo! I’m sitting next to my arsenal of cold remedies and tissues.
Cat @Breakfast to Bed says
uck. lo siento. I am so glad you had a great class, though!!!
Dena @ 40 Fit in the Mitt says
I love it! That’s funny that she associated a tuff workout with a man. Everyone of the best/hardest workouts I’ve done have all been designed by women! Hope you feel better soon.
Khushboo says
I am guilty of underestimating women trainers but I’ve almost always eaten my words! Hope you feel better!

As for coffee, I’m the opposite. I know I’m sick when I actually *don’t* want it!

Sometimes sleep is what your body needs to do to get better. I’m so proud that you made that chick eat her own words!

Warm beverages are the best when you’re sick–especially tea with lots of honey. Hope you’re feeling better!
