Showering Mal & Brian + A Pizza Party Play Date

By Courtney 16 Comments

Hello! Happy Tuesday!

I was planning to get this post written up on Sunday night to publish yesterday, but we had some random bedtime shenanigans that tossed that idea right out the window (note to self: do NOT sing “You Are My Sunshine” to Lucas when he asks you to sing him a song for bedtime…the kid broke down in tears and could not pull himself together after that, not wanting me to leave. It was crazy! Then again, maybe it was just my singing…)

So, ya know…here we are today instead!

Sunday was a GREAT day since we had the pleasure of showering Mal & Brian and their baby girl on the way in only FIVE short weeks!!

IMG_0646

First things first though…is Mal not freakin’ gorgeous?! FYI: her dress is from Asos, in case anyone is wondering ; )

Our group of friends had been planning the shower for a couple of months now, and we were so excited to have it all come together.

IMG_7486

It was a very relaxed and casual brunch (at Carney’s Tavern, for the locals!) and guests were able to eat, chat, and mingle with the parents to be.

IMG_0644

Also, how adorable are these cupcakes, right?!

IMG_0639

If anyone local is interested in getting contact info for the woman who made them, let me know. She was VERY reasonably priced!

IMG_7485

I had such a fun morning being able to celebrate these two with some of my best friends and family (Kanika, we need to photoshop you in!).

IMG_7495

And this one is priceless because Brian may or may not have accidentally spilled the name while taking this picture.

IMG_7494

It reminds me a lot of this picture from when we spilled the beans about being pregnant with Lucas to friends!

Eeeeek, I am so excited to meet this baby girl SO SOON!

IMG_0648

After the shower was over, I headed back home and worked on putting together a little dessert for a get-together we were having with neighbors that evening.

IMG_0649

And yes, I absolutely made a couple of mini trifles with the leftover ingredients to have for later (check out this post for details, except I just used crushed Heath bits!). No shame in my game.

We kept our little neighborhood traveling pizza party going and headed on over to our friends’ house after nap time for some pizza and play time.

IMG_0675

Our neighborhood is full of little boys and I absolutely LOVE IT. And they’re all within 2-3 years of age, which is so, so great.

IMG_0662

As I’m sure you can imagine, our pizza parties/play dates are always hoppin’. ; )

IMG_0671

And I had to laugh because at one point in the afternoon, shortly after we arrived, I came across Lucas getting incredibly protective of his little brother. Nobody was doing anything wrong (the other little boy was simply showing him his awesome orange bucket), but Lucas came over and put his arms around Alex saying, “this is MY baby brother!”

It was adorable. <3

And those are some highlights from the weekend! How about you guys? Do anything fun or exciting??

That's so fun you have so many kids in your neighborhood! We have NONE which is just so bizarre since we live in a great town. Next house! Also, need to make that trifle!

I used to cry when I was younger and my mom would sing that song to me!! I also wouldn't let her go and would make bedtime not so easy 🙈

That is so sweet about Lucas protecting Alex :) We had a bunch of kids all within a few years on my street growing up and it was SO much fun! We used to play street hockey and ride bikes together etc., etc. I imagine it also makes it easier on the parents since the kids can just walk / bike to each other's houses when they're older.

She looks amazing! And now I want to know the name, haha. You look great, too, Courtney! What a fun time having a neighborhood full of boys. Our neighborhood is so old. I hate it!

She looks amazing- as do you! The cupcakes are so darn cute. I would definitely fail at trying to replicated that detail! My weekend was fun of sunshine and a picnic!

My daughter cries when we sing that song too! She is ok with me singing it now, but will not let my MIL sing it to her because she says it makes her miss me too much!

So.many.boys. I can only imagine the energy in that room! I babysit a 3 and 5 year old, both boys, and just the 2 of them have the capability of making it sound like there are about 10 kids in the house :)

I laugh every time I see the name reaction picture. You would think we told you something far more exciting/surprising based on those reactions!

Mal looks amazing - pregnancy clearly agrees with her! That photo is too funny. And hilariously ironic that Lucas burst into tears over "You are my sunshine" -- LOL!

We had a pizza party in our neighborhood! Someone left a half eaten pizza in front of our lawn and I had to fight off raccoons for scraps! #sharingiscaring
