Before anything else, I have to take a minute to just say thank you to all of you who took the time to reach out and comment on yesterday’s post. Blogging has changed in many ways over the years, one of them being that readers don’t comment nearly as often as they used to (which is totally cool, I’m guilty of being a silent reader myself!). But it just makes it twice as nice to actually hear from those of you on the other side. All of your comments truly left me feeling like I really am in a good place, and for that, I’ll be forever grateful for you all. It was like a little dose of therapy. ; )
Now, on to today’s post! One of the things I’ve been having fun doing more of lately when I’m not blogging (and not necessarily doing well, but having fun nonetheless!) is working on decorating our home. I swear, it’s something that has the ability to consume my entire being if I’d let it (must. have. all. the. Pinterest. looks…!).
Since we moved into our home about a year and a half ago, I’ve really enjoyed sharing our little and big projects we’ve been working on along the way. And I say “we” very lightly…because, if we’re being honest, it’s Jay doing about 95% of the work. He just does what I ask him to and, man, does he have patience for dealing with me.
Here’s a recap of some of the things we’ve done and shared…
- DIY Farmhouse Table with Extension Leaves
- These are from our old house, but we’ve also made a beautiful shelf with hooks and a chalkboard…the shelf, sadly, stayed at our old home, but the chalkboard is currently hanging in our mudroom!
- Our basement remodel/makeover
- Our mudroom
- DIY Picture Ledges
While I still have quite a list of bigger things that I want for us to complete (next up is a new deck…aka, a spot to sip my sangria in the sunshine), I also try to work on little things here and there within the house to help make it feel more “cozy.”
One thing that I have always been absolutely terrible at is decorating walls. Sure, I can toss some family photos in some frames no problem, but when it comes to actual art, I always have the HARDEST time picking things out. Will it “fit” in our home? Can I even tell what the heck that is? Does it match our existing décor?
With the exception of our living room and the boys’ rooms, the majority of the remaining walls in the house have been bare since we moved in. Yikes! If you walk around our house, you’ll likely find some frames or gallery wraps that I’ve purchased that are just sort of sitting there, waiting to find their place on a naked wall.
Tell me I’m not the only one, haha!?
But FINALLY, I came across a couple of prints from Minted that I truly loved for our upstairs hallway as soon as I saw them.
In full transparency, Minted is not sponsoring this post BUT they were kind enough to offer us a couple of beautiful prints for our home, and this post does contain affiliate links. We love using Minted, both for art work, cards, and birth announcements, and actually have quite a few of their prints scattered throughout our home!
Right now through April 3rd, Minted is having an Anniversary Event and offering 15% off sitewide (excluding commissioned art and art styling services) using promo code: NINE. So if you haven’t already checked them out, now is a perfect time! Check out their promotions page to view all details for the promotion, as well as all other current promotions that are live on their site!
So it’s tough to get a good shot of them, since our hallway is quite narrow, but I’m really so happy with the look of our new art. In case you’re interested, they’re the Wild Blush i and Wild Blush ii prints.
Since I’m really awful at trying to mix pieces of art together, I loved how these at least had the same name so I figured they’d have to work well next to each other…right? Ha!
And the tulip print that is currently in our gallery wall is also from Minted, too!
I love how springy it is.
As for other updates around the house? Hmmm, let’s see…
I’m currently working on re-doing the boys’ bathroom. I had originally “designed” it (again, I say that loosely…I’m no interior designer!) with pops of yellow and flowers, thinking of it more as a guest bathroom. But, let’s be real…it’s the boys’ bathroom. And it’s filled with squirty toys and balls and poopy diapers that don’t make it into the diaper genie.
So I found this shower curtain along with some new, cheap hand towels from Target (they’re all navy, not black like they’re currently looking to me). I love the shower curtain, but a quick FYI: I ironed it just like it said on the instructions, but the blue ended up bleeding quite a bit into the white…boooo.
I still have some things I want to put on the walls, but I did end up ordering an 8×10 print of this picture (which is one of my current favorites!) and have it hanging in there for now.
Man, I love those two.
Let’s see, what else…
OH, have I shown you guys the new light fixture we put up in the kitchen? I know I told you that I finally ordered it, but can’t recall if I ever showed you the final result?? Well, I love it.
I’m also trying to add some pops of color in our living room, but in a non-committal way (aka, things I can change out by season) so I’ve recently added some new, fresh pillows for spring/summer.
The solid pillows are from At Home and the the patterned ones are Threshold brand from Target!
I thought they matched pretty well with the whole Easter decor thing we have going on right now.
And just in case you were getting the impression that my living room is perfectly decorated and organized and clean, let me clear that up for ya…
And that’s actually looking pretty good. ;)
How about you guys? Has anyone else been bitten by the decorating bug? Any fun projects going on at your place lately?

We also have a picture of our boys in the bathtub hanging in our bathroom and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t my favorite picture in the whole house. It’s almost a shame it’s hanging in the master bath that nobody uses other htan us…buuuuut you’ve just given me inspiration to redo our main bath. I love re-doing bathrooms because it’s such a small space but brings so much joy with small changes, ya know?!

Me! My husband just moved into our rental home, but we are actually allowed to decorate/paint/hang things up/etc. so we are going a little crazy, haha. But, like you, we have several paintings waiting to be hung… Oops!

We just bought our house last June and have slowly been renovating the whole thing. I don’t think there is one room that’s completely finished yet! It literally took me 4 months to decide on just a tv stand haha. The main bones of the house are complete but now I need to decorate and let’s just say when I get ideas in my head I don’t want anything but what I’m picturing :) Luckily my husband is pretty handy and has made most of my visions a reality so far!

I shared a spring/ Easter centerpiece on my blog and that is about as far as I have gotten this spring. It would help if it warmed up.

My man asked me if I could help him paint so I did! But I was painting my nails. So he yelled at me and told me to use the paint in the can. So I used my nail polish brush on the walls! Then he yelled again! He was so upset and I told him not to cause he made me feel incompetent!

love that easter egg topiary. Where did you find it? Thanks
Courtney says
Oh man, good question! It’s sooo old, haha…probably something like Target or Homegoods?!

Hi Courtney, beautiful house with beautiful decor!
I’m crazy about decorating my house too and my fav shopping spots are local decor stores. I went overseas for the past 3 months and guess what, when I’m back, I brought 3 fully loaded 32 inch suitcases full of cultural recors and realized not every one of them have a place in my home yet!
My obsession of house decoration started since we moved into this house a year ago, it has nuge naked walls and I’m desperate to fill them!
I love the little couche pillows you have. I usually do t use them much because we need more space to sit and relax on but yours don’t seem overwhelming at all! And I love the pattern, saw threshold at the Clifton park target for a few times and like their refreshing style a lot….
Lastly, it’s so interesting to hear your husband can do all you need him to do! I’m training my husband towards that direction too and he is making progress! Just love this post!
