So Hard To Say Goodbye…To The Outer Banks

By Courtney 25 Comments

Well, it certainly has been one heck of a great week.

IMG_4392

Today, we all tried to make the most of our last day by spending it both at the beach and poolside.

IMG_4496IMG_4363

We also tried to do our best at finishing off the rest of the food in the house, so there was an abundance of peanut butter and jellies goin’ around.

IMG_4704

I thoroughly enjoyed a pb&j for both breakfast AND lunch today.

IMG_4705

And Josh even went as far to make himself a grilled pb&j. Has anyone else ever tried this?? Because it looked phenomenal…

IMG_4708

I’ve also probably eaten my bodyweight in popcorn throughout the day, too. Jay and I love it so much that we actually went back to get another bag of s’mores popcorn…because, umm, it’s just about gone. Woops.

IMG_4703

Since we pretty much wiped the kitchen in the house clean, part of our group headed out for one last dinner together back in Timbuck II at First Light Breakfast & Burgers.

IMG_4719

None of us can believe that this is now our third year being down here in OBX and we had never once tried out this place.

IMG_4709

The restaurant is small, with a little more outdoor seating available, but they have a menu full of burgers, sandwiches, and appetizers that were definitely making my mouth water.

IMG_4710

Our dinner buddies. Smile

IMG_4711IMG_4712

I’m definitely in full vacation mode because my food cravings have been all over the radar. Tonight, I was really craving a burger so I listened to the belly, and went ahead and ordered myself a Bruschetta Burger, which was topped with tomato bruschetta and melted provolone.

IMG_4718

The burger was a little oregano-heavy, but it tasted fantastic. And the fries were delicious, too.

IMG_4716

Everyone was definitely more than pleased with their selections, and we would all definitely recommend this place to anyone heading down this way!

*********

Now, unfortunately, the week has come to a close and we’re about to hit the road.

IMG_4735

No more Coronas on the beach…

IMG_4421

No more excuses to eat ice cream everyday… (well, that could be argued, but still…)

IMG_4460

I’m gonna go ahead and whine a little…I’m not ready to leave!

IMG_4727

But hey, such is life.

It was a great vacation, with great weather, spent with great friends. And now, I suppose I can be ready to go back home…

IMG_4332

I have somebody verrrry special waiting for me. Smile

See ya from New York!!

I'd say ice cream lunch is more necessary when you're in NY. Without a beach, you gotta find something else to look forward to! ;)

Um, grilled pb&j is basically the best sandwich ever. It's a big gooey mess, but it's soooo good! I make them all the time haha

Wow grilled pb and j - what a great idea! You know what else would be good? Grill PB, bananas and honey. mmmmmmmm, sounds like the perfect midnight snack. Hope the cat didn't raid that liquor cabinet too hard ;-)
