Something I’ve Never Done Before

By Courtney 57 Comments

This afternoon, I made a successful trip to Target and picked up a birthday present for a very special someone. I also did something I’ve never done before…

IMG_4991

I went to see a movie all by myself.

IMG_4993

And when I say by myself, I mean it quite literally…the theater was empty!

IMG_4992

So I hunkered down in my seat of choice and got out my movie snacks: a pre-popped 100-Calorie bag of my favorite style kettle corn, a Sprite Zero, and of course…some sweets.

IMG_4995

Jay and I still have some leftover Easter candy in the house, so I packed up a mini container of some Sour Patch Kids and Starbursts.

IMG_4996

It’s definitely a good idea for me to pre-package my movie snacks. Otherwise, being in the dark tends to make me throw caution to the wind and I end up eating a lot more than I need to. Hey, I’ve even been known to package up cupcakes for a movie.

I finally got my chance to see Bridesmaids, and I’m so glad I did…it was really funny, and I was totally laughing out loud all by myself on more than one occasion. Winking smile

*******

By the time I was on my way home, I was starving. I already knew that I was on my own for dinner tonight, which would have been the perfect opportunity to eat up some of my leftover salmon. But as it turns out, my stomach had other things in mind…

IMG_4997

My drive home brought me right past a Chipotle, and before I knew it, I was standing in line ordering a chicken burrito bowl.

IMG_4998

IMG_5000

Of course, I also had to get a side of chips and guacamole. Winking smile

IMG_5001

This is actually only the second time I’ve had Chipotle, and I can honestly say that I forget how darn spicy it is. Good lord.

But despite its uber-spiciness, and the fact that it’s overpriced, there’s no denying that it sure is delicious!

Now it’s time to go get crackin’ on a batch of birthday cupcakes for tomorrow. Smile

Hope you’re all having a great start to the weekend!

Question for the Evening:

Have you ever gone to see a movie by yourself? If you haven’t, would you?

I would def. see a movie by myself...and have before! I think it was some kid movie (Toy Story 3) that I saw by myself...which was great because I ended up balling during the end, AND I even brought my own snacks too...but got asked to put them away...:-( Boo! I think people need to be cooler and do things they want on their own, without worrying who will judge!!

I've been to the movies myself, but only once. When I was pregnant I had a three hour gap between my OB-GYN appointment and my sonogram so I went to a nearby movie theater and saw one of the Twilight movies. It wasn't so bad, but that might be because it was in the middle of the day. I think I'd feel a bit lonely at the movies alone on a Friday night.

Before I had my baby I went to the movies by myself at least once a week! My husband wouldn't always want to see the movies I wanted to see so instead of waiting months for it to come to DVD, I just went by myself.... lot! It's sort if freeing to do things alone and feel confident doing so!! Glad you liked the movie!!!

I LOVE Chipotle! I don't really find it to be overpriced - I think it's quite reasonable! I have never seen a movie all by myself, but I just might do the same thing with Btidesmaids. I want to see it and no one wants to go with me!!

I totally have. With 2 small kids, sometimes the hubby and I will take turns going to a movie alone. But one time when I went alone, I was the only one in the theater.... UNTIL this weirdo came and sat right behind me!!! Every other seat was open in the theater and he sat right behind me!!!! Needless to say, I couldn't enjoy the movie. Yuck! hehe Oh well. Glad you enjoyed the movie :) I can't wait to see that one! Have a great weekend. XO

I went to Bridesmaids alone, too! Glad you enjoyed it. Chipotle's salad is actually one of my favs there--honey lime dressing is killer! I am super impressed that you still have Easter candy! Mine was gone the week after. I made smores out of peeps & chocolate bunnies. YUM!

I've gone to the movies alone a couple times, i kind of enjoy it! and i LOVE Chipotle! It is spicy, but I love it! The carnitas is really good and not as spicy as the other meat, if you're looking for some variety (and healthy wise, it's the same as the chicken).

I actually enjoy movies by myself because Hunni won't go to the same ones I like. Bridesmaids is a great choice and one to laugh at out loud. "I have a bear sandwich." Chipotles vegetarian burrito bowls are some of my favorite GF fast food items. They are pretty spicy but considering they use all organic ingredients and don't skimp on the guac makes them a great price. I wish I had been at Chipotle with you...I would have loved a burrito bowl today.

I'm pretty sure I've been to one alone before... I can't really remember because the past few years I always bring my nana and mom with me because they love movies and it gets them out of the house. ;) And regarding Chipotle, I just had it last week, and I forgot how much cilantro they put in.... something. I had a burrito, and about halfway through I chomped down on a big piece of cilantro, which I now realize I'm not a fan of. Kinda ruined the burrito because I was afraid of what I would bite into again. I'm sure people who love spicy food and cilantro would have enjoyed it!

AHAHAHAHAHA, wasn't that movie great?!?!? I just LOVED it! And every.single.guy I know who has seen it also thought it was hilarious -- honestly, I haven't heard of anyone who saw it and didn't think it was funny! And YUM, Chipotle is my favorite! I think they are pretty reasonable, given the large portion -- I usually get the vegetarian fajita burrito bowl because the vegetarian comes with guacamole (instead of meat), and I die for their guacamole, and I always have them top it with lettuce, so it's like a little salad. I actually used their online nutrition thing once and added up how much the vegetarian burrito bowl is with the toppings/options that I get, and it was less calories total than I expected. AHHHH, I want one RIGHT.NOW.

Looooove Chipotle!!!! Even their plain chips are delicious. They have a hint of lime to them, and I love spicy. The vegetable bowl is ah-ma-zing! I also don't really feel like it's fast food (even though technically, it is, you take it home in a bag!) As for going solo at the movies, I think it's awesome, and my friends think I'm nuts. But during my employment gap I learned to love a good matinee. Can't beat the price AND you get to enjoy a movie that you want to see, even if your friends or significant other don't. There's no "who picks the movie" because you get to pick the movie... I'd better stop rambling and make some breakfast before I drive to Chipotle and sit outside waiting for it to open! ;)
