It’s official: my Chocolate PB Cup Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Frosting were a success! :-D
Mom & Dad liked them…
Kate & Justin liked them…
Zenia & Meg were lovin’ ‘em…
And Derrick & Jim…well…I guess you could say they were really enjoying them. ;)
It’s a good thing I saved a few of these puppies at home because they disappeared pretty quick! :)
Sooo, HAPPY FRIDAY everyone! I don’t know about you, but I’m psyched, which must be what powered me through a workout this morning. I was actually debating on skipping out on one because I had a super crappy night’s sleep (thank you, allergies) BUT I knew I’d feel better after I did it. I’m still trying to let the hips calm down, so I stayed away from the treadmill and decided to do some Pilates & yoga. :)
Workout Review
I turned on my Exercise on Demand channel, did a little browsing, and came up with two really great workouts. Yes, another success!
The first workout was Less is More Pilates, which is a 22 minute, cardio intensive Pilates routine featuring Lizbeth Garcia (who is actually the same girl who is on my Pilates on the Ball DVD). I’ve actually done this one before when I needed a quick pick-me-up, and I really enjoyed it.
The second workout was a new one for me: Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown. The workout that is available On Demand is a 36 minute condensed version of her full DVD. The full DVD features two complete 30 minute workouts, which I’d really like to try. I found Jillian’s take on yoga to be pretty interesting, as she not only worked you through the poses, but then also increased the cardio by continuously moving the body, and ending each pose in a 15 second hold. I actually worked up quite a sweat, which was totally unexpected, and I felt so relaxed. Seriously, why do I not do this stuff more often??
Breakfast
Breakfast was yet another success and was ready in a jiffy, thanks to my late night preparation of some overnight oats.
Yesterday, I cooked up a large batch of wheat berries, which I had bought a few weeks back at the Farmers Market for wicked cheap. To cook them, I simply placed 2 cups wheat berries in a large saucepan with 7 cups water and a big sprinkling of cinnamon. Bring the water to a boil, then cover and simmer on low, stirring occasionally, for about 60-70 minutes. Now I have them stored in a large bowl in the fridge, just waiting for the taking. Let me tell you – I LOVE wheat berries!!!
Overnight Oats:
-1/2 cup cooked wheat berries
-1/4 cup oats
-3/4 cup vanilla almond milk
-1/2 small banana, sliced thin
-1 tbsp each dried cranberries & golden raisins
-Cinnamon & Nutmeg
This morning, I gave everything a stir, and topped it off with some Bear Naked Fit granola & a small scoop of Blizzard Butter. I REALLY liked this granola! YUM! :-P
We all know by now that overnight oats don’t really look very pretty (unless, of course, you’re Angela, who always seems to make hers look delectable) but I promise you that this was one fabulous bowl of “OO”. The wheat berries added some serious chew to the bowl that I’ve definitely been missing out on.
I already have a mid-morning snack of Manna Bread planned, along with some of THIS that made its way to me yesterday:
PB2!!
A HUGE THANK YOU to Shanna for sending this along for me to try! I’ve seen it around blog land for a while now and have always been quite curious & intrigued by it. If you take a look at the stats, it’s significantly lower in fat and calories when compared to regular peanut butter.
I have a feeling my mid-morning snack may just be coming sooner rather than later! Thanks again, Shanna!!! :-D
Question for the Morning:
What was your latest success?? :)
My latest success was only having 1 of those amazing cupcakes last night!!! sooo delicious!
LOL – good call, Mom! :)
mine was having no cupcakes ;-)
Well you totally missed out!
I just tried PB2 this morning for the first time and I was realllllly impressed. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not moving the real stuff and AB outta the pantry, but it’s nice to switch it up sometimes!
i LOVE yoga meltdown. Did you do Leve 1 or 2? Level 2 is WAY harder than level 1..haha. but I love it, its a really good workout. :-D
my lastest success = baking that cheesecake the other day. haha.
Love all of the pictures of people eating the cupcakes- looks like you caught them off guard- haha!
I have not tried the Jillian Yoga meltdown yet, but I’ve only heard great things about it & that most people were totally taken off guard @ the great workout that it actually was. Gotta love that. I have to try it asap. I just don’t think I have that exercise tv- do you have direct tv?
& PB2- I love that stuff. Mine is almost gone- going to order more soon :)
Latest sucess..mmm…maybe accomplishing that crazy interval workout yesterday…
I need to get some of that PB2! Seems like the possibilities are endless with that stuff…
My latest success was this morning. Friday is my long run day and I woke up to heavy rain. I decided to give it a go anyway – 9 miles later I was SOAKED but happy :)
I LOVE PB2!! It is amazing!! My latest success is core class every monday and barbell strength class every thurs..then of course my regular workouts on the other days. But I like adding those classes in to mix it up for a bit.
Yay! You got the PB2…it’s fun to mix in oats, use as an ice cream topper, eat as a dipper with apples, or on bread, etc. It’s been a fun little guy to play with!
I am still drooling over those cupcakes. May be your best recipe yet!!!
Hmmm, most recent success: food wise is last night I made chocolate chip butterscotch bars (recipe pending). Personal was my promotion a month ago ;)
I LOVE wheat berries, too! That texture can’t be beat. Latest success = running 4 miles yesterday. Now I’ve got to figure out how to get to 13.1 – thankfully I have until December. :)
I love Jillian’s YogaMeltdown! Actually I love all of her workout DVDs! I get an amazing workout from all of them :)
My latest sucess? Not running to the grocery store at 1am to get cupcake ingredients after reading cupcake post last night, ha. ;)
LOL! :-D
I’ve been wanting to try PB2! If you say it’s good, maybe I’ll have to pick some up :)
Those cupcakes look AMAZING! Latest success = improvising some “coffee bark” for a friend’s birthday tomorrow. It turned out great!
Sounds delicious!!
