The Rumors Are True

By Courtney 45 Comments

So this morning, I was reading through the comments on last night’s Tangents post and saw that Karen had mentioned Dunkin Donuts already having their Pumpkin Spice coffee available.

So then I even put out a call on Twitter to find out if the rumors were true, and many of you were just as excited about this information as I was…

[blackbirdpie id=”106730583002054657″]

By this point, I really couldn’t go much longer without finding out whether or not the rumors were true, so I hightailed it out to the closest DD’s to get the scoop.

Well, here’s the scoop…

IMG_7335 (640x480)

Pumpkin Spice is BACK, baby! Open-mouthed smile

IMG_7329 (640x480)

I know it’s still August. I know it’s still technically summer. But today it’s damp and dreary, and gosh darn it, I wanted some pumpkin spice in my life. Ohhhhh pumpkin spice, how I’ve missed you!

FYI: Want to make your pumpkin spice coffee a little healthified?

The syrup that DD uses is thick and full of sugar and calories. From what I remember, a medium will typically have about 160 calories, and that’s with using 3 pumps of syrup. So do what I do and ask for 1-1/2 pumps (half the amount of syrup) – you still get plenty of pumpkin flavor, with half the guilt!

Ooooooooooooooooooh I can't wait to get my hands on one of those!!!! Since I don't like milk in coffee, if I order from Dunkin' and I'm headed home, I'll get the coffee black then go home and put my liquid fat free coffeemate creamer in it!

YAY! I have never tried Dunkin Donuts coffee and am thrilled they have Pumpkin Spice out just in time for my trip down to the States! I am getting it for sure and with half the syrup :) Thanks for that tip! My absolute favorite is Starbucks Skinny Cinnamon Dolce latte - so sugar free syrup and skim milk! I go all out with a Venti for 160 calories, totally worth it!

I've actually never had the DD pumpkin spiced latte! (gasp!) I LOVE Starbucks' pumpkin spiced latte, so I definitely need to hightail it over to DD and try their's! Ways I "healthify" my drinks: ask for nonfat/skim milk, ask for sugar free syrups (if available), and go with the small size. Pretty simple stuff, but it all adds up!

I love the word "healthify" and I am so glad to see that I am not the only one who uses it. I try to healthify baked goods all the time, so at least I feel like I am feeding my kids healthy treats. I used whole wheat flour, oat bran, bananas and non-fat yogurt to make blueberry muffins a few weeks ago and they came out delicious! Now I am contemplating running out the Dunkin Donuts for lunch - even though it is going to be 108 degrees here in Dallas and there is not a hint of fall in the air!

I think I might be the only one not excited by the return of pumpkin spice lattes- even though I love pumpkin and I love lattes, I just can't on board with them being in the same cup. Although I do love that that means fall is just around the corner. ;)

I love Starbucks vanilla lattes, but usually order it non-fat, caffeine free, and sugar free, then dump Splenda in it. I like it sweet but low in calories!

If you like lattes from Starbucks, another (healthier) option is a Misto, which is 1/2 coffee, 1/2 steamed milk (I get soy). For some sweetness, I just add a splenda and a small amount of chocolate powder. Delish!

I always ask for SF flavors and minimal milk usage. Though I don't think splenda is the greatest alternative, that much sugar is not good!

I love summer but I really do love everything that comes with fall...like everything and anything pumpkin flavored!! Btw, where are your sunglasses from? Super cute! :) I love using PB2 to healthily anything that calls for peanut butter...I don't really like it in sandwiches, but it's an awesome way to give anything (like smoothies, oatmeal, and greek yogurt) a peanut butter flavor for more than 1/2 the calories! :)
