Iiiiiiit’s Friday! And I don’t know about you, but that makes me wanna DANCE!
This is seriously one of my favorite animated pictures ever, so I just had to bring it back from an older post.
This morning I woke up knowing full well that I have a LOT on my to-do list today. So rather than putter around, I figured I’d head out and try to tackle a few of my errands head-on. You know, get a good start on my day. Well, here’s how things panned out…
Stop #1…no luck.
Stop #2…not open yet.
Stop #3…no luck.
Stop #4…Good lord. After three unsuccessful stops, I needed something that would be a guaranteed success. I’d say I made out alright.
Considering I went all though high school and college not even being able to go to the gym without some sort of makeup on (yup, I’ll admit it, vanity was sorta my thing) who would have thought that I would actually post pictures of myself sans makeup and with a bed-head ponytail? I must be getting older and wiser…or maybe I just love you guys all that much…or maybe I just don’t give a crap anymore?
Along with my large-sized coffee which I purposely accidentally ordered at Dunkin’ Donuts this morning, I also enjoyed breakfast out on the porch.
A cereal combo: Quaker Oatmeal Squares, Fiber One 80 Calorie Honey Squares, Kashi Golden Goodness, blueberries, & vanilla almond milk.
Today’s bowl successfully finished off the box of Quaker Oatmeal Squares, the last of the almond milk, and about half of my blueberries. I guess I’ll have to work on the rest of those before the end of the day…gotta clean out that fridge!
Now let’s just hope the rest of my day goes a little smoother than this morning.
Questions for the Morning:
Are you an everyday makeup wearer? Only for special occasions? Not at all?
Have your makeup habits changed at all over the years?
that iced coffee as big as your head! you’ll definitely have energy to get you back to your stops that didn’t pan out haha.
Believe it or not, that coffee right there will have no effect on my energy levels at ALL! Caffeine just does not seem to have an effect on me?
My Hubs is the same way!! I just don’t get it! LOL I love my coffee, but def can’t have it at night!!!
I usually wear makeup everyday, but only a little eyeliner. I try to keep it minimal unless I’m going out! You still look beautiful without makeup, ya know :)
Ha! Makeup. I think I wore it at my brother’s wedding…in October. I’m way too lazy and would rather have the extra time to…I don’t even know. Comment on blogs? Waste time on twitter?
Hahaha…I think that’s what I can attribute my lack of makeup wearing to lately! ;)
You look beautiful without it. Share your love with twitter instead of foundation.
I talked about this on my blog, but I rarely wear makeup during the workweek. I keep a stash of lip gloss, mini mascara, & blush stick in my bag in case I do something after, but most days I am just too tired to comprehend putting together a look that won’t scare children. ;) Happy Friday to you!
I never ever wear makeup. If I put on mascara it is a BIG deal! haha!
If I am going out into the world, I try to remember to wear makeup (key words here are *try* and *remember*). Normally, I am pretty regular about it, but I definitely have no shame going out into the world with a bare face.
Middle school was really my makeup heyday. Haha
You look gorgeous all the time Courtney! And, I definitely think I just don’t give a crap anymore haha. I used to wear makeup all the time, now I only do sometimes- definitely more in the winter though when I need some color on my face so I don’t look dead. Plus, my bf likes me with or without makeup so I don’t feel the need to impress :).
Thanks, Linds! :)
I agree, I definitely wear more in the winter and less in the summer.
I work from home, so I don’t wear makeup much during the work week. When I do wear it I wear a minimal amount, except for special occasions, then I’ll do my eyes up more.
I’m definitely a makeup wearer, I never go to work without it on. But I’m totally comfortable not wearing it in normal life things, like going to the store or the gym, so I usually take weekends as a break for my skin and skip the makeup.
Courtney – A little personal story…this morning I learned that the Katy Perry concert I have tickets for tonight is postponed because she is ill. I am MORE than a little bummed…probably more bummed than a 28-year old woman should be!
When I opened your post in my Reader today, the animated .gif of the little kitty made me laugh out loud.
Thank you for salvaging my morning! :)
Oh my gosh, I used to be the SAME way – freshman year of college, I was straightening my hair before going to the gym (naturally) and I remember my very-low maintenance roommate looking at me like I was an alien. What? You never know who you’ll run into at the gym and my ponytail needed to look perfect! Haha, oh how times have changed – now I go to the gym before work looking like a mangy raggamuffin, with no shame.
I used to care more about my make-up, but now I really could careless if I left the house with it on or off. I always make sure my zits are covered up before I go anywhere, though :P
The only way I ever wear make-up to the gym is if I’ve been at work in the day or out and already have it on. Never would I purposely put on make-up to go workout. I had a friend like that, and let’s just say we drifted somehow haha
I was just like you and never went without makeup when I was younger. Now I wear makeup to work daily but on days when I am just around home or running around I wear minimal or none. I used to wear way more daily than I do now, finally learned less really is more ;)
My makeup routine has changed over the years for sure… I used to wear it a lot more frequently during my high school years. Generally, whenever I have the opportunity, I go without makeup — especially on Sundays. But I do wear it to work every day.
Oh my goodness, you are gorgeous with or without make-up!
I do not wear make-up everyday, especially in the summer when I am at the pool more and when our schedule it not as hectic.
Good luck with your massive to-do list and then it’s on to VACAY!
I LOVE make-up! I can’t be without it although it’s nice wearing less in the summer when you have a tan I still take great pleasure in owning ridiculous quantities of nail varnish and all the eye shadow colours in the rainbow… Of course we don’t need it – but putting on a bright lipstick always cheers me up :-) By the way I just ordered ‘Something Borrowed’ after your recommendation – I’m in a real reading phase at the moment just read The Help – really good – now I need something to fill the void! Hoping I like it – looking forward to seeing both the films
Ooooo I hope so!!
I try to wear makeup everyday.. if I feel like it. Most of the time, I don’t. But I never wear makeup to the gym, I just sweat it off. Oh well.
& being a teenager now, I can’t wait to see how I am with makeup when I’m older! It will probably be non-existent.
I hate when I’m all ready to go….. and the rest of the world isn’t there to make it happen, they are closed for another hour. Boooo!
I am a make-up girl! Oh yes, I am…. I never went out of the house without makeup on when in highschool but for some reason, in college I became more comfortable with myself and would do lots of things out and about in the world without makeup on… Still, I <3 LOVE <3 my makeup!!!
Stop you never went to the gym in high school!
Crap…good point. LOL
Thanks for throwing me under the bus, Little Bro! ;)
I have always been a makeup girl. I think this is mainly due to my own insecurities. Growing up I would have horrible acne. I was so ashamed and embarressed about it. Now at 23 I don’t really have any however, I’m still a little scared sometimes to go without it.
You seriously look amazing if that’s your no makeup/bedhead pic! When I wake up my hair looks like I just survived a tornado or something.
Now that I work primarily from home, I never have makeup on. When I get dressed it’s workout clothes and a ponytail. Sometimes I miss dressing up ;)
Wishing I had me a large iced coffee right about now!
In high school I used to get up extra early to make sure my hair and make-up looked perfect- it was more important to me than breakfast. In college, 7:30am classes changed that morning routine, but I still wore make-up to my afternoon classes. Now it’s a good day if I make it out the door with a swipe of mascara and some hairspray in my hair. Have I really gotten that lazy? Maybe I’m just more comfortable with my natural look, haha. I do get self-conscious sometimes, because I feel like I look so much younger than a lot of the junior high and high school girls who wear pounds of make-up!
I’m not a big makeup person. I think a lot looks weird on me, and most days I don’t wear any. I guess I’d just rather look natural. Once in a while I’ll put on some bronzer and eye makeup.
I don’t wear makeup so much in the summer when it’s 100 degrees out. But it’s fun to play with in the winter.
I never wore makeup until college, then I joined a sorority and attempted makeup everyday! Now I just do a little cover-up, chapstick and mascara when I’m keeping it low-key.
I never wear makeup…ever….
and ironically I started a makeup company in 06-sold it last summer-so for 4 yrs I owned a makeup co., had reps working for me and yet never wore it myself!
Though, if I go out I might put on some mascara & eyeliner (which I have to borrow from my teen who will NOT step outside w/o makeup on)
I’ve definitely become lower maintenance as I’ve gotten older. Especially in the summer time!
I always felt like I had to wear makeup to the gym in college, too! a different experience back then… And I’d love even half of that coffee right now!! happy friday, get dancing like that cat and nothing else will matter :D
That cat cracked me up — and omg stoppp you are so gorg!!
Love the questions! I used to be like you were in college… I had to wear make-up to the gym. Not necessarily A LOT of make-up, but something.
But now at 27, I realize that it’s more important to let my skin breathe (especially during sweaty workouts!) than to worry about being vain. So I never wear any make-up to the gym or while I’m running.
That being said, any other time I’m going out of the house (grocery store, meeting a friend for lunch, etc), I’ll usually be wearing at least some make-up. It just makes me feel more put-together, I guess. But that’s just me! :)
Growing up I was a competitive dancer and theatre queen…so I was on stage all the time and always had gobs of makeup on. So I learned from childhood how to apply makeup and have always worn it. During highschool I couldn’t leave the house without a full face on but then during college I actually went to classes without a stitch! My first year of college though I didn’t go to the gym because I didn’t want people to see me without makeup YIKES – dumbest decision ever! Live and Learn. I now go to the gym sans makeup because I’m a serious sweater and it would be all over my face. I definitely do makeup if I am going to work or out with friends, but sometimes I stay makeup free to run errands. Good discussion question Courtney!
That cat just made my day haha.
I use to wear makeup a lot in high school but I’ll admit I’ve never been very good at applying makeup. As the years have gone by I wear it less and less more so because I forget and I’m lazy. So you know its a special occasion when I pull out the eye liner!
I went to an all-girls’ school from the time I was 11-18, and that gave me a completely different perspective from most people on makeup. I never thought it was necessary to wear on a daily basis, so until I graduated from college very recently, I didn’t. Occasionally I’d feel like looking nice and put on a little bit, but in general it was a going-out type of thing. Lately I’ve started to wear some on a daily basis, though- brown eyeliner, concealer, powder and mascara. It’s a pain to add five minutes to my morning routine, but I realized that I’m going to be entering the job market soon and I never know who I’m going to meet. Better look as presentable as possible!!
I too used to wear makeup constantely, but have recently stopped, and now only wear it about once a week! I am still in college, so I rather sleep in after a late night studying, then get up to be all pretty. My new mantra, if they don’t like it, then dont look! haha
I’m definitely the type to hardly EVER wear makeup…and if I do, it’s a little foundation and eyeliner. I knew somebody that wouldn’t go check the mail without getting totally dolled up. We’re talking heals, a dress, hair done, makeup..the whole deal. That was ridiculous!
Days like that definitely frustrate me! I wear makeup almost every day. I always wear it to work – but I let it slide on the weekends unless I’m going out! I wear less in the summer too, it’s too hot to deal with otherwise!
I’m an everyday make-uper, but I’ve gotten better about it over the years. As my self esteem gets higher there’s an inverse relation with the amount of make-up I rock. Woohoo! Takes me way less time to get ready in the morning.
i used to be an everyday-er, then i became special occasions, now i’ve started wearing the bear minimum everyday, just so i don’t scare people ;p
*bare
Omg I was just thinking about this the other day when I posted my sweaty workout pic on my blog….I was sweaty, makeup less, dirty ponytail, and I didn’t even give a crap!! Like you, in high school and college I would NEVER leave the house without makeup on….now I could care less! The only time I wear makeup now is to work and date nights with the hubby….I guess we are getting older and wiser ;)
You still look great without make up! My make up habits have definitely changed over the years. On my days off, I don’t even put make up on. It feels so good to let my face just breathe! :) I try to stick to neutral colors and wear as little make up as possible now on the days that I do wear it. Mascara is my favorite though!
I don’t wear makeup everyday. And I definitely don’t put it on for the gym!
As it is, I’m very bare bones about it. My routine takes only a few minutes but I don’t think me getting older has anything to do with it…my mom never wore much makeup. I guess I picked up my habits from her :)
I love playing with makeup, but I don’t freak out if I go out without it! I’ll totally run errands after I wokrout in my sweaty workout clothes and no makeup. I’m confident enough not to!
I only wear makeup when I’m teaching or out seeing friends, and even then I don’t wear a lot. I can count on one hand the number of days I’ve worn makeup this summer. It’s just not worth it to spend the time and effort and then have half of it slide off my face in the heat. I do love buying new makeup (I need to buy stock in Sephora), but I’m lazy about using it. :)
