I didn’t quite realize that Mother’s Day was coming up so soon this year. Was anyone else a little taken aback by that?
When it comes to Mother’s Day (or any holiday, really) Jay and I have never gotten too over the top when it comes to gift giving. I think a big part of it is because I feel like there’s always something else we can (and should) be spending money on (or, you know, we’re still trying to catch up from a $5,000+ vet bill…). Or if/when we really need something, we usually just go and get it.
So when he asked me what I wanted this year (as he always does) I responded…with what I usually do. Which is usually “I don’t know, there really isn’t anything I neeeeeed.”
But let’s be real…if pressed hard enough, we can all come up with something that we’d like, right? Even if they may be little!
So I told him I would absolutely LOVE some glazed doughnuts from Schuyler Bakery in nearby Watervliet. They make some of THE best glazed donuts I’ve ever eaten (and it’s a good thing I just checked out their website because they’re closed on Sundays…looks like he better take the trip over there on Saturday!)
I also wouldn’t mind a delicious iced coffee from Starbucks (since the ones I make from home lately are crap). Here’s my jam combo lately…
Of course, a homemade gift from Lucas will ALWAYS be one of the best gifts I could ever receive.
And he’s also already informed me that he’s not sure he’ll be able to top the gift that “Lucas” made for me last year, but that he’ll try.
Other than that, I’d really just like to be able to get out of the house for a couple of hours for a manicure and pedicure.
It’s been WAY too long since I’ve gotten either and now that the warmer weather is upon us, the tootsies need some lovin’.
Lucky for Jay, he wasn’t the only one who offered to help “spoil” me a little bit this year for Mother’s Day. My friends at Sears were generous enough to send me a nice little gift card to treat myself for Mother’s Day this year…so last week, I did exactly that!
Sears (who is sponsoring this post!) has some great gifts for Mother’s Day, for all types of moms out there…
- The Fashionable Mom: apparel, footwear, accessories, beauty and fragrances
- The Outdoor Mom: patio decor & furniture, lawn & garden equipment, bikes, swimwear, sandals, luggage, digital cameras and camping gear
- The Fitness-Focused Mom: activewear, fitness equipment, headphones, juicer/small kitchen appliances
- Master Chef Mom: Kemore appliances, cookware, plateware, cutlery and more
- The Techie Mom: smart technology, tablets, cameras, TV’s and more.
While I guess there’s a part of me that could find myself fitting into almost any of the categories above, I’ve really been in the mood for new shoes lately. And a new watch. So I did a little browsing one night last week on Sears.com/mom and found a few things that looked perfect!
This rose gold watch immediately caught my eye while I was shopping online.
I’ve been wanting a rose gold watch for a while now, just to switch it up from my everyday silver watch, and I loved the simplicity of this one.
Then I also bought this fun pair of sandals
And these gladiator wedge sandals.
I will say, I’m really impressed with the variety of shoes that are available at Sears!
When it came time to picking up my order, I actually opted to use their In-Vehicle Pickup service (except for the watch – an associate called me shortly after I placed my order and informed me that anything from the fine jewelry department remains at the counter due to potentially high value, which I could appreciate). It makes shopping super convenient and you can see more details here on how it works.
I’m no stranger to the In Vehicle Pickup service (I’ve used it many times, and you can see more details on it in THIS POST!), but I just love how it allows you to just pull into your parking spot, pull up the app and check in, and wait for your items to get to your car in five minutes or less! Not only that, but it’s great for when you’ve got the kiddos with you and don’t necessarily want to worry about unpacking everyone and/or walking around the store to get what you need. Moms, I know you know what I’m talking about!
So anyway, yes, here’s my little treat to myself from Sears.
And now that I’ve been able to treat myself a little bit, all I really want and need is some special time with family.
Oh, and of course, those donuts. ;)
So how about you guys? I’d love to hear from you!!

I LOVE those gladiator wedges. I literally just ordered them so thank you for sharing the link. Treating myself too this Mother’s Day! What a good deal! I’ve been struggling with shoes so much lately to wear to work. I want to stay comfortable during pregnancy, but still look cute at work. Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day!!!

The only Sears around us actually recently went out of business, so did the one in my hometown! Wah! Love both of those sandals, great choices!! I treated myself to a pedicure this past weekend for that very reason…getting out of the house for a few minutes of ME time!

Its good to know I am not the only one with mounting vet bills. My beloved dog is still in critical care with no end in sight… :( Its been a tough week, but I would do anything to get her home again. No matter the cost…
Glad to hear Cody is on the mend, too!

Love those gladiator wedges! I don’t do much Mother’s Day receiving, but I do some giving :) This year, I found a cute little book at Paper Source that has prompts and designated pages you can seal up for letters to your mom, so that + a nice brunch or dinner are what I’m planning on giving!

LOVE the wedge sandals and the watch! For me, if there’s something I want I usually just go and buy it. So I love it when my boys make me something.

I am the same way with Mothers Day … There’s always something else we could spend the money on. But, when I had y first daughter I came up with the idea to ask for a tree, shrub or plants every hear. I get a gift and we add to our landscaping … Win/win :)
