I can hardly believe it, but we actually had a weekend where nobody was sick and we were all able to ENJOY ourselves. It’s a miraclllllle!
And Sunday’s weather was absolutely gorgeous, so we opened up a couple of windows to get some fresh air circulating through, and we got outside to play. It was incredible.
Our front yard has a small hill that’s pretty much perfect for Lucas so sled down, so he had a grand ol’ time doing that a hundred times.
Which was a-okay by me…get him nice and tired out for a nap. ; )
This little guy was content to just be out in his sled and getting some fresh air. I’m pretty sure I can count on one hand how many times he’s been outside since this past summer.
It was so nice, we even went for a walk…it was actually the first one without him being in his carseat, and he loved it!
Oh, and umm, those shades?? <3
I also ended up making two batches of cookies this weekend and Lucas was the best helper – I loved having him in the kitchen with me!
We made some cut-out sugar cookies (which we were going to do for Valentine’s day but ended up holding off since the whole sickness thing) and then I also made a batch of Heath Bar Crunch Cookie Bars (which ended up cooking a little longer than they should have…).
The cookie bars were actually to bring over to our neighbors’ house for a little get-together on Sunday evening. Can I just say how awesome it is to have such great neighbors?!?
We had snacks, and some of our favorite pizza…
And they also had this alcoholic root beer which was INSANELY delicious. Have any of you tried it before?
Apparently they also make a cream soda so I need to get my hands on that ASAP!

Overall, it was just a really great weekend. I managed to get not one, but TWO workouts in, I got grocery shopping done, the sun was shining, the kids were (fairly) well behaved…it was just the first weekend in a while where everyone was in good spirits. And I swear, the nicer weather had a HUGE impact on my mood…I’m just meant to be in a warm climate!
I hope all of you had a great weekend and have a wonderful week ahead! I’m off work today with the boys for the holiday so who knows what our day will bring. <3

We totally soaked up the sun at our house. The warmer weather also means its maple syruping time in our backyard so we were getting that in full swing!

Try making a root beer float sometime with the Not Your Fathers!

What a great weekend! That pizza is making me wish I was going out for lunch today instead of eating the salad I prepped yesterday….
I have tried that not your father’s root beer and it is SO good.

Those sunglasses are beyond adorable!
Hard root beer is the best! I have yet to try a kind that wasn’t delicious.

Great photos; your boys are adorable! Those cookie bars and cookies look so yummy! I had every intention of baking this weekend, but unfortunately never got to it, but I’ll have to check out that recipe for the cookie bars you made.

What a perfect weekend! We felt the same after sickness- we got outside, slept, ate good food and just enjoyed our time together!

Those boys are adorable on their sleds!
Not Your Father’s is a brewery outside Chicago, so we’ve had quite a few of their offerings! (My fiance is seriously obsessed). They also have an orange soda and a ginger beer…the ginger is my favorite!

Those boys are SO CUTE! I can totally relate on the decent weather affecting my mood. Sunny days tend to lend themselves to more productivity on my part. At least the gloomy days make us appreciate the beautiful days, right?

Hey Courtney!
“Not Your Fathers” also makes ginger ale which is equal parts delicious and dangerous. Perfect for outdoor drinking…preferably on a boat! Here’s hoping those days aren’t too far off!

Sledding looks so fun! I live in Texas and mostly love the warm weather, but do wish it would snow a couple of times a year!

So glad you had a good weekend! Our winter has been pretty similar to yours. If it hasn’t been an illness, it’s been miserable weather which doesn’t bode well for life with a toddler (I’m also in the Northeast!). I’ve been in a major funk because of it, and the sunshine this past weekend was just what we all needed! It felt so good to be outside and smiling again. We also opened up a few windows! Winters in the Northeast can be so tough, can’t they? I also decorated my house for spring / Easter, and packed up every bit of winter decor. It made a big difference, that’s for sure. Now, we wait for spring :) hope things continue to look up for you guys too!

OMG I can’t take how cute Alex is in that snow suit! His chubby cheeks are soooo cute!

That is so cool! Once my neighbors brought me a salad and I told them at the dressing they used was scrumptious! Then they told me they didn’t put any dressing in it and maybe something just leaked from the roof. #goals

I hear ya on the nice weather affecting our mood! Makes such a difference!

Unfortunately the sickness is not yet out of our house but we didn’t let it get in get in the way of enjoying our little heat wave. Yesterday it was nearly 79, I whipped open all of the windows, and I’m hopefully that all of the germs went right out!
Alex is too stinking cute in all of his snow gear and I’m super jealous of your little sledding hill! Not that we have snow anymore, but I’m sure we’ll get hit with a storm soon enough.
Trisha says
It was definitely only 70• :)
