Well hello, and happy Monday to you! I hope you’re all coming off of a weekend that was filled with as much love as this cat received all weekend long.
Both of the boys have been VERY into Cody lately, and Alex (especially) just can’t seem to get enough of him. Thank goodness, our sweet Cody is SO good with both of them, no matter how many times he’s tackled, tugged, poked at, hugged, and loved on.
As for our weekend? It was a good one! Then again, how can it not be when I get snuggles like this?!
It was still pretty warm around here (like, umm, we had to cave and turn the A/C on Sunday!), but I know fall weather will be here eventually, so we’re just enjoying the time we can spend outside without having to get all bundled up.
On Saturday, Lucas had a fun day + sleepover planned with my parents, so Jay and I got a little extra time with our little guy, enjoyed a delicious dinner at home (we had a Blue Apron delivered this past week!), and got to work on a project we’ve been meaning to do for a few weeks now.
Lucas got his BIG bed!
If you’ve been reading for a while, then you may remember the Leesa mattress we used to have set up in (what is now) Alex’s room. We put it away in storage for a while, but decided to swap out Lucas’s twin bed (which we got for him after he’d been sleeping on the floor for 4+ months <—who else remembers that?!).
I’d also had my eye on this comforter set from Target for his room for months, and when it went on sale recently, I decided it was time to finally just grab it. Also included are this sheets set, this striped fabric floor bin, and this red sham. (Please note, the “bed skirt” you see that is only partially covering the bed is actually from Alex’s crib and clearly does not fit…I just wanted to get a feel for the look, ha!).
He was SO excited about his new bed, and must have thanked us a dozen times for “making this nice and cozy, super cool bed!” of his. That kid can be so sweet when he wants to be!
Oh, and of course, we can’t forget the other big highlight of the weekend…
Ohhhh, it was time. It had been over a YEAR since I last cut my hair. A year!! And it was finally time to let it go.
So here’s the before…
And here’s the after! And I’m in looooooooove <3
It just feels so much lighter!
We also colored it too, to go a little bit darker for fall and cover up some of the highlights that we did back in March. I’m sure I’ll add something back in at some point, but for now I’m just excited to play around with it some more.
So there’s our weekend in a nutshell! What were some of your favorite weekend happenings??

I love your hair! It actually looks a lot like mine these days! I tell myself it’s not a “mom” haircut exactly but even if it is it’s cute!
Shaqueefa says
Da heck is a mom haircut?? Nah girl
Irene says
Haha sorry if my comment came off wrong! I was trying to say I like the haircut!!
Shaqueefa says

Love the haircut – that is a big change! I am also tired of this heat and ready for more fall weather. We had a failed trip to the Pumpkin Patch on Saturday, then my husband’s band had a show that night. Sunday was a fun workout at the Dallas Cowboys training facility, as we celebrated the Dallas Fitness Ambassadors turning two (I posted lots of pics on Instagram). Busy weekend, but I am back at work on Monday while my kids are off school!

LOVE your haircut. It’s what I want mine. Or I want an inverted bob. I can’t decide, ha. I’m glad Cody is so good with the boys.
Shaqueefa says
Lucas got a better bed than mine! His got sheets and a mattress!

Ha – last week when your post title mentioned haircut I thought it was going to be you and I was excited to see it but then it was Alex! I love the new look – I didn’t realize it was so long before! I’ve been wanting a change and I love this look. How do you style it/what products? I don’t like to spend much time on my hair and kinda like to just wash and go but this looks doable.

Your hair looks great! And I love Lucas’ big boy bedroom! I both dread (because honestly where does the time go?!) and look forward to the day we get our boys big beds. We had a family wedding this past Saturday and then hosted my dad’s entire family back to our house for brunch on Sunday morning. Now I’m out of state for a 3-day business trip and the exhaustion of the weekend is hitting me. full force. Looking forward a (mostly) uneventful weekend ahead!

I definitely wouldn’t classify this as a “mom haircut.” I mean, you are a mom and you got a haircut, but what is a mom haircut? Anyway. I LOVE IT. I’m overdue for a haircut myself, so this actually inspired me to finally make an appointment. And a highlight of my weekend was probably Sunday afternoon with my dude. After cleaning + grocery shopping, we parked it on the sofa and watched It and a few shows. I am now officially afraid of red balloons and the word “float”.

the haircut looks great! i was growing mine for the past year for my wedding, which was in Sept…so now i’m trying to decide if i’ll keep it or cut it. i’m liking having long hair but when i see pix of cute lobs like this, it throws me for a loop. :)
