Hey guys! Happy Thursday! Hope everyone is having a good week so far. We’ve been semi-busy, as usual, but nothing too crazy which has been nice. In fact, we’ve even managed to have three sit down dinners in a row over here, which is like, a major victory.
I decided I’m switching things up a bit with today’s post, and I’m hoping it works out where I can keep this going. I still want to share the dinners mentioned above with you guys since they’ve been delish. But I’m also throwing a little fashion into the mix today!
Since I was totally shocked at just how many of you are interested in this aspect of the blog that has died a slow death, I figured it’d be fun to try and revive it a bit. I’m still not really sure where I’m going with this…i.e., will I do it weekly, make it a series, who knows?…but we’re gonna play around and see what happens.
So today I’m sharing three of my outfits so far from this week. I figure hey, if I have something that I think looks cute, I’ll go ahead and share! *FYI: Please do not mistake my thinking something looks cute for actually being fashionable. While I’d like to think I’m not atrocious with fashion, I certainly don’t know it all and I’m no crazy fashionista.
That said, here’s some of this week’s outfits so far! And please, ignore the mirror that very obviously needs to be scrubbed of itty bitty fingerprints.
Monday
- Blazer: LC by Lauren Conrad via a consignment store (Clothes Mentor) *Couldn’t find it online but similar, similar and similar.
- Tank: Van Heusen Outlet (similar)
- Jeans: Mavi Stretch Skinny Jeans via StitchFix
- Boots: Kaylor Slouchy boots via Target
- Watch: Stella via Fossil
Tuesday
- Sweater: Textured Sweater via Old Navy (their Stuff & Save is still going on, check it out!)
- Navy Ankle Pants: Van Heusen Outlet (similar to Old Navy’s Pixie Pant!)
- Shoes: Sole Society
- Necklace: Pixley via StitchFix
FYI, this is the sweater (if you already follow me on Instagram, you know this) that I totally forgot to pull the tag from and didn’t notice it until about 4pm that day.
Co-workers, whyyyy did you not tell me this?!?
Wednesday
Can I get a heck YES for working from home clothes and no makeup?!
- Tank: Reebok Studio Tank
- Pants: FiveBamboo via Healthy Living Summit 2012(?)
- Shoes: Reebok Cushion One
So there ya have it. What do you think? Anything up there you guys would wear? Or wouldn’t be caught dead in? It’s okay, I can take it.
As for those dinners that have been super delish…
On Monday night we had another Blue Apron meal of Cuban Sandwiches with Sweet Plantain and Kale Salad.
I was impressed with this meal for numerous reasons, one being that my husband actually ate the salad. Like, all of it…kale AND plantains. I was shocked. And we both loved it. Again, such unique flavor combinations from them. Total winner.
Ha. And here’s a throw-something-together-quick meal that happened on Tuesday that all three of us enjoyed.
Yummy Dino Buddies (found ‘em at BJ’s and the nutrition wasn’t too horrible for frozen chicken nuggets), some Annie’s white cheddar shells, and roasted asparagus. It wasn’t the fanciest, but everything was delicious and came together in less than 20 minutes so I really can’t complain.
Wednesday was our last Blue Apron meal for this week! Turkey Meatballs & Linguine with Fresh Tomato Sauce and Pecorino Cheese.
This. meal. was. awesome. And honestly, after all three of their meals this week, we decided we’ll probably get another one in a couple of weeks. It’s totally worth it for us right now!
Alright guys, that’s a wrap for today. I have a dish of ice cream ready and waiting with my name on it, along with some of my favorite Wednesday night shows so I’m outttttta here.
Questions for Today:
- What kind of fashion trends have you been loving so far this fall?
- Any new/returning TV shows you’re into right now? <—we’re SO excited to have American Horror Story back tonight!!
- What’s been the best meal you’ve had so far this week (if you have a recipe, feel free to share it!)
Christina @ Pink Polish and Running Shoes says
I love the first two outfits, but my favorite is the one with the white Old Navy sweater. So cute! I’m an American Horror fan too, but I am SO tired right now from staying up to watch it lol. I don’t know when 10:00 became so late hahaha.
Kim says
I love this !!! I love seeing your outfits and how you piece things together :) please keep it going!
CARLA says

Ha! Glad we aren’t the only family that also eats the dino nuggets (mom and dad included).
Brynn says
The best meal I had this week was the stuffed pepper soup my best friend brought over for us when we came home from the hospital with our son. I’m thinking about trying the blue apron meals in a few months once things settle down a bit.
Andrea @ Pencils and Pancakes says
I just got a BJs membership but havent gone yet. Can’t wait to see what they have.
char eats greens says
VERY nice outfits!! Especially the workout one ;) (or maybe I’m just saying that to make myself feel better about dressing that way all the time haha). I cannot wait to move to the states and try out Stitch Fix!!
Renee Benda says
I once went to a gas station and a man was yelling to me, and since I’m not really cool with that kind of attention I ignored it finished pumping my gas and got the heck out of there. He kept pointing to his neck, I thought he was going to kill me (I was 23 in a bad neighborhood just getting gas at 3pm) Then when I got back into my office a co-worker was like oh hey Minnie Pearl, I had a HUGE tag hanging out of the back of my suit jacket right near my neck. I still laugh thinking the guy was trying to help me out and I thought he was going to kill me.
Stacie @ SimplySouthernStacie says
I love fashion posts, so bring them on! I really love the first outfit. There’s something about colorful blazers that just make an outfit.
Tara | Treble in the Kitchen says
LOVE the pink blazer :)
Aine @ Awkward Irish Girl Blogs says
Was Lucas at your mirror, is that a teeny handprint I spy??
Cute outfits! :)
Best dinner this week was pad thai take away. So good! And quite fancy, the peanuts and lime came in separate little containers :) (I am easily pleased.)

Can I just say how much I LOVE this post?!?! I love when bloggers share their outfits / outfit inspiration. I have to admit I fall into the same category as you when it comes to fashion … I’d like to think I have some fashion sense, but honestly I’m probably just a hot mess most of the time. I really love that white sweater from Old Navy. I actually have to make a return soon (been ordering online because I never seem to find time to get to the store), so I guess I’ll have to browse around and see if they have any of those sweaters left. I also like your skinny jeans … I just recently purchased my first pair (from American Eagle) and have been trying to decide when/how to wear them. I will probably wait for the boots I ordered to come in … I think they’d look great with those.
Please keep up on the fashion posts! Your style is so much like mine and you buy many of your clothes from the same stores that I shop at, so it’s great inspiration for me. :)
Jasmine @ a cupcake for my thoughts says
Those dinners all look delicious! I love all of those outfits! I really like that sweater from Old Navy, might have to check it out when I go there next!!
Suzanne @ Mrs Mix It says
Being that I’m 32 weeks pregnant, there isn’t much fashion going on over here. I refuse to spend money on anything but the basics. I would rather save up for purchases for my after baby body!! I do love the fashion posts though, adds a little fun to the blog!
haley @Cupcakes and Sunshine.com says
Ooooh I’m all about the dino buddies and the Annie’s Mac! FUN DINNER!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
TOTAL heck yes(!!!) for workout clothes and no makeup. For once though, I got home from the gym, showered and put on jeans…I don’t know who I am anymore. ;)
PAPA B says
That is just not right that no one spoke up and told you about that tag hanging out. It’s like walking around with your pants zipper down all morning and you down find out until you sit down for lunch. Most people are afraid to speak up.
Shari says
I love the outfit with the Old Navy sweater! I’m actually headed there today to use up some rewards coupons, so I’ll have to look for it. :)
Favorite new show of the season: Madam Secretary. I absolutely LOVE it!
Britt@MyOwnBalance says
I like the Blue Apron meals but I actually think Plated meals are so much more delicious! You should give those a try sometime. You don’t have to sign up for a membership.
At least it was just a tag on your clothes, once I went to the bathroom to find I had a huge thing of kale in my teeth that no one told me about. Whomp whomp.
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
Cute outfits! I’m loving a little pop of leopard in a belt, scarf, or shoes lately! I also love leggings and a long tunic/sweater with boots for fall – it’s my go-to outfit in the cooler months. Gym clothes are by far my favorite clothes though. ;)
Dinners have been nothing exciting this week. Actually it’s been pretty pathetic… Haha. Need to work on that for next week!
Favorite shows right now –> Scandal and Parenthood!!
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says
Love the Old Navy sweater! You are tempting me with Stuff and Save! Love that sale.
Tags being left on happens to me all the time. In fact, the worst one was when a guy came up to me at the gym and I thought he was going to hit on me because he asked if my shirt was new! I was worried he stalked me and knew my entire gym wardrobe. Turns out…he wanted to let me know my tag was still on the back. Oops.
Koryn @ High Heels & Healthy Alternatives says
Ok, so three things! I’m LOVIN’ the…
(1) LC Lauren Conrad blazer
(2) the Sole Society shoes
(3) and that StitchFix necklace
All, sooo cute! Thanks for reviving the fashion part of your blog! It gives me great ideas of what to look for and what would look cute together! :-)
Dinner has been nothing memorable – just quick & easy ’round these parts. Lol. We’ve been super busy preparing for our trip to Chicago this wknd. Hubby is running the marathon – Yay!! :-)
Shawna says
Your outfits are so cute! I love this post :) I am loving the oversized sweater with leggings and boots trend this year. SO comfy!
The TV show that I am completely obsessed with right now is Scandal. I can’t get enough! Our dinners this week haven’t been too special, although next week I am making a loaded baked potato soup in the crock pot which I am very excited for :)
Ash @ Ash's Right Direction says
I am loving that pink blazer! I have been looking for one like that, I have always been fascinated with blazers and jeans :)
I am currently addicted to Once Upon a Time and I cannot wait for Hart of Dixie to return. The new show I have been into is Scorpion on CBS.
Kristin M says
Love the outfits! Thanks for sharing :)
Carrie (This Fit Chick) says
Dino nuggets~ oh how I miss those! I love your necklace in the second outfit!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
I’m all about big chunky sweaters, especially ones that are super long. Can’t wait to pull them out now that SF is cooling down. And of course, my best meal this week was spaghetti squash – which I had twice this week with spicy pasta sauce and crumbled turkey burgers on top. Working from home in your casuals is the best!
Victoria says
How fun! Like this concept of writing about food and fashion. :) And to answer your questions:
What kind of fashion trends have you been loving so far this fall? – <– I've really been liking clothing with leather/pleather inserts. I just purchased a Style & Co tunic with a cowl neck (and faux leather detail at the shoulders and pockets) which I'm excited to wear.
Any new/returning TV shows you’re into right now? <– I don't really watch TV so I'm not looking forward to anything in particular.
What’s been the best meal you’ve had so far this week (if you have a recipe, feel free to share it!) <– I just made a slow-cooker Moroccan beef stew, the recipe for which I found in DRAFT magazine. I used Sweet Baby Jesus (peanut butter beer) and added some vegetables to the recipe and we really enjoyed it last night!
Angela @ HonestlyAngela says
I love leggings with lots of cozy layers for fall. I am trying to transition away from wearing workout clothes everyday and leggings are the next best thing!
Britt @ Fit Fit Britt Britt says
Leopard print accents and orange have been my favorite trends!
I love Modern Family and am stoked that it’s back! I also love Chicago Fire and PD!
I made a “skinnier” version of chicken poppy seed casserole… Slightly less calories than the regular HEAVY, delicious comfort food :P
Chelsea @ Chelsea Eats Treats says
I got the same blue apron meals (plus the fish!) and loved them too. I really liked the Cuban sandwiches and had no idea it was that easy to make pickles!
Also I am loving the fashion updates! Thanks for showing us some affordable and cute options :)
Nicole says
Cute outfits, but COWORKERS?!?! What. the. heck?!?! I’m wagging my finger at them for not telling you about your tag!
How about a post about your make-up? (Or have you done that in the past?)
Alex says
Blazers and scarves! What an easy office combo. I have plenty of scarves but my blazer game needs a bit of work. I only watch 2 shows since we don’t have cable, but Scandal (duh, everyone’s obsession) and The Amazing Race (really cool is you like to travel.) are all I need. So good.
Marielle says
I love seeing your fashion posts~ you have cute and classy style! I really like that LC jacket….I’ve never actually bought any of her stuff before, but everything I’ve seen from her line is super cute!
Kristin says
I love the slouchy boots from Target! After seeing them on one of your posts, I took advantage of the buy one, get one half off sale that week and ordered them in gray along with black riding boots. My favorite fall look is oversized sweaters with boots and skinny jeans. I live in them.
K.C. says
Love love love the first outfit! That blazer and top looks so cute on you. I like these types of posts. Oh, and I had a huge dinner fail last night (overcooked the chicken and oversalted the pasta) but at least a good meal awaits me Friday night – my mom’s coming to town and taking me out to dinner. For TV, I’m enjoying Gotham so far and so pumped that the Mindy Project is back!
Sarah @ Sweet Miles says
Those turkey meatballs look delicious!! Favorite fall look is leggings, long top, and riding boots :) And a big scarf! And actually, I recently tried my first pair of booties instead of riding boots and really love them! They give your outfit a completely different look and feel!
Emily @ Sweets and Beets says
Cute boots and blazer! :) And turkey meatballs sounds good — I’ve never made them! :)
Torry @ A World Without Wheat says
I LOVE that Old Navy sweater and it is so cute with the necklace – I think I might have to add that to my closet :-)
Kat says
I bought that Old Navy textured sweater as well! So cute! Bummer about the tag.
Kelsey @ Ramblings of Change says
LOVE the outfits – definitely want to try and recreate them for myself! Too darn adorable. I’d love to see more posts dedicated to this. Since recently starting my professional/grown-up job, I’m struggling to build up a business/life closet!
Angelyn @ Everyday Desserts says
LOVE all three of the outfits!!
Fiona says
Favourite meal so far this week has been spaghetti squash with meatballs! I’m so ready for sweaters and blouses and tall boots! I love me some layers!!!
I’m so excited for Nashville to be back and Scandal!
Have a great weekend!
