Well I think it’s been maybe 4-5 weeks since I last did a WIAW post, so I’m bringing it back today. Why not, right?
My appetite has been a little weird lately. I wind up feeling starving, but then nothing sounds good. Or I’m nauseous. Or then I’m not really hungry, but I just want to snack on something anyways.
Sometimes I just want cold food, other times I just want sweets. Either way, I’m totally blaming the end of this pregnancy on all of it! Side note, I still can’t get past the fact that my due date is less than a month away…LESS THAN A MONTH?
I feel so unprepared…like I should start reading up on my old pregnancy or Lucas update posts or baby books, or something?! Yikes!
But then again, I’m sure all is going to work out juuuuust fine. And besides, that’s not what this post is about anyway. It’s What I Ate Wednesday…featuring my eats from Tuesday.
Breakfast
My favorite Starbucks egg white, spinach, and feta wrap + a grande half caf iced coffee with 1 pump white mocha and 2% milk.
I forgot to take a picture so I had to find this recycled one, but it was the same deal.
Mid-Morning Snack
I don’t even think I was that hungry but found myself reaching for something more out of boredom than anything else. My snack drawer stash is getting a little low at work, but I do still have some almonds on hand, so I wound up eating a bunch of those.
Those Blue Diamond lightly salted ones are my favorite!
Lunch
Lunch was weird yesterday because a) we don’t have much food in the house for lunch, b) I didn’t give myself time to put much of anything together before leaving the house in the morning, and c) my appetite has been a little off lately.
So it started with some cottage cheese sprinkled with cinnamon and (eventually mixed in) blueberries and strawberries.
Maybe an hour or so later, I ate some cold, leftover roasted veggies that we got to take home from Mother’s Day dinner at my parents’ house from Sunday.
I thought about getting up to heat them up but got too lazy. It worked out though, because they’re actually pretty delicious cold!
I also ended up snacking on 3 caramels from my co-workers candy dish while chatting with her about a few work-related things. They were so soft and chewy and incredibly delicious. I <3 caramel so, so much.
Mid-Afternoon Snack
A little while after eating my veggies I wanted something else but wasn’t really in the mood for much of anything. Then I remembered I had a box of the Bitsy’s Smart Crackers in my desk drawer and I snacked on a few good-sized handfuls of those.
Who says they’re just for kids…?
Dinner
For not having gone grocery shopping at all this week, we’ve lucked out the past two nights for dinner thanks to some extras that I had picked up late last week. We had a pack of grass-fed ground beef on hand, and some leftover buns, so we fired up the grill and cooked some cheeseburgers along with french fries and green beans. And we sautéed up some onions because…they’re the best.
Honestly, this is probably one of my favorite meals right now.
After Dinner Snacks
A little while after finishing dinner, I was in the pantry looking for a snack for the hungry toddler and found myself digging into this bag of chocolate covered pretzels from Vermont Nut Free Chocolates.
I’m pretty sure I had four, but I could have easily eaten 40. They’re SO good!
And right now, it’s just before 9pm as I’m finishing writing up this post and I’m thinking about the Boston Cream donuts that are currently sitting on our counter right now. I’m thinking it’s a sure bet that I’ll likely wind up eating one of them before the night is over.
How about you guys? What eats have you been loving lately?!

Egg casserole! I made an awesome Mexican egg casserole with hash browns for Mother’s Day and have been loving the leftovers for breakfast!

I had basically the same Starbucks breakfast this morning- always hits the spot! Those sautéed onions on that burgers look like perfection-makes me want a burger right now!

I’ve been the same way! Starving, but seriously the only thing I want is Ben and Jerrys “The Tonight Dough”. If I wasn’t pregnant I would be embarrassed at how quickly I go through a pint but at this point I’m taking full advantage! Not too much longer!!

All of the fruit- and I am not even pregnant! But there is nothing like fresh fruit when it first comes into season.

I’m also in the 3rd trimester, and nothing sounds tasty anymore! It’s like I’m so sick of eating the things that used to excite me! However, I have found enjoyment in freezing Greek yogurts and slightly allowing them to defrost at room temperature, then topping them with cereal or berries for a cool, protein packed treat. I also enjoy mixing flavored Greek yogurt with cottage cheese for a calcium rich and satisfying snack! Last but not least, lots of OOIAJ….LOTS.

Sautéed onions and burgers were made for each other. That might be one of my favorite summer meals, too!

Your WIAW post perfectly captures the rollercoaster of cravings during the end stages of pregnancy. The mix of hunger aversions and sudden desires for specific foods resonates so much. Wishing you all the best for the upcoming arrival.
