We came. We played. We ate. And we ate some more.
Since we got hit with a pretty good sized snow storm on Thanksgiving Eve, we all awoke to a beautiful blanket of snow covering everything in sight on Thanksgiving morning. Now if only we could make this happen again on Christmas, RIGHT?!
We tried bringing Lucas out to play in the snow but it wound up being a pretty big fail. The snow was too deep (I think we got about 10-12 inches), it was also too heavy/wet for him to walk through, and the child hates anything on his hands. Like, haaaaaates them. So he’d pick up the snow then look at us like, “Ohmygod maaaaa it’s cooooold! Get it off!”
Soooo, our time outside was short-lived. Ahh well, whatcha gonna do?
Luckily, our meals on Thanksgiving were anything but a fail. Mmm mmmmm.
We had my in-laws over to the house for breakfast and I ended up making the same sausage, spinach, and egg casserole that I made a few weeks ago.
I was planning on making a batch of my Cinnamon Chip Scones too (but with pumpkin spice chips!), but I ran out of time so a can of cinnamon rolls took their place. Not a bad substitute, if ya ask me.
We also cooked up some bacon and my in-laws brought a fruit salad to round out the meal.
Round 1…plus another cinnamon roll, fruit, and whatever was leftover from Lucas.
We put Lucas down for his morning nap, which was timed perfectly for the day, and once he was up we headed over to my parents’ house.
Of course, we had to snack on plenty of homemade Chex Mix before dinner was served.
Turns out Lucas likes his grandma’s Chex Mix. Especially the Cheerios. Not surprised.
Let me tell ya…it is NOT easy getting this child to sit still for photos these days. It wasn’t until the end of the day when I realized that we never got a family photo of Jay, me, and Lucas. Darn it!
At 3pm on the dot (impressive, mom!) dinner was served.
I filled my plate with all of the usual suspects: turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, rolls with homemade honey butter, and mom’s applesauce.
Lucas wasn’t a huge fan of it all, but he did enjoy some turkey, sweet potatoes and applesauce. Oh, the amount of applesauce he ate…
Not long after dinner, the food comas set in.
You’d think by now that he’d know better not to fall asleep.
But there’s always room for dessert! Homemade apple and pumpkin pies.
Yum and YUM.
It was a wonderful day, filled with family, great food, and good laughs, and I went to bed that night with a full heart and a not-too-overly-full belly, which was nice for a change! For those of you who celebrated, how was your Thanksgiving? Any big highlights to share?

Try Spinning! A great workout and I’m addicted!
Courtney says
Spinning is one workout I just have not been able to get myself into! Plus, I don’t have a gym membership so that one would be kinda tough ;)
Torry @ A World Without Wheat says
Looks like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving – that top picture of you and Lucas is awesome.
I hear Pure Barre is good – I have always wanted to try it.
Courtney says
Ahhhh I loooooove barre classes! I used to take them occasionally when I was working at the gym…maybe I could find one online to do at home??
Kim says
I know Fitness Blender has a few online:
some from this search – http://www.fitnessblender.com/v/full-length-workouts/?str=&time_min=&time_max=&cal_min=&cal_max=&type%5B%5D=3a
Torry says
This is awesome – thank you!!
Arimey says
If you have Amazon Prime they have Barre workout videos in there for free!
Kim says
I LOVE Fitness Blender. Check out the search feature on their website (http://www.fitnessblender.com) – it’s fantastic. You can search by length of workout, intensity, body part, equipment, etc. Their videos are nicely produced and very no-nonsense. I can’t recommend them enough.
I’ve also done their five-day workout (20-30 minutes per day, first workout here – http://www.fitnessblender.com/v/workout-detail/Day-1-Fitness-Blender-s-Free-5-Day-Workout-Challenge-for-Busy-People/kf/ ) and found it to be pretty good – three of the five days were fairly intense, with two lesser ones thrown in. It was a nice mix.
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says

Looks like a lovely Thanksgiving! Lucas is too cute. We also had a great day. The highlight was 15 of my aunts/uncles/cousins coming to town and just sitting around for hours laughing and talking. It was perfect and left me feeling very thankful at the end of the night.

Glad you enjoyed your Thansgiving! Cinnamon rolls are a tradition for the hubby and I on both Thansgiving and Christmas mornings, so it was nice to see I’m not the only one who in indulges at breakfast too :) As for the new workout, I’m from the area too and highly recommend the bootcamp at Flight trampoline park (off Central Ave. by Kohls). It’s so much harder than you’d think, but it’s a blast! My legs were like jello the next day… in a good way!
