Well, it certainly has been one heck of a great week.
Today, we all tried to make the most of our last day by spending it both at the beach and poolside.
We also tried to do our best at finishing off the rest of the food in the house, so there was an abundance of peanut butter and jellies goin’ around.
I thoroughly enjoyed a pb&j for both breakfast AND lunch today.
And Josh even went as far to make himself a grilled pb&j. Has anyone else ever tried this?? Because it looked phenomenal…
I’ve also probably eaten my bodyweight in popcorn throughout the day, too. Jay and I love it so much that we actually went back to get another bag of s’mores popcorn…because, umm, it’s just about gone. Woops.
Since we pretty much wiped the kitchen in the house clean, part of our group headed out for one last dinner together back in Timbuck II at First Light Breakfast & Burgers.
None of us can believe that this is now our third year being down here in OBX and we had never once tried out this place.
The restaurant is small, with a little more outdoor seating available, but they have a menu full of burgers, sandwiches, and appetizers that were definitely making my mouth water.
Our dinner buddies.
I’m definitely in full vacation mode because my food cravings have been all over the radar. Tonight, I was really craving a burger so I listened to the belly, and went ahead and ordered myself a Bruschetta Burger, which was topped with tomato bruschetta and melted provolone.
The burger was a little oregano-heavy, but it tasted fantastic. And the fries were delicious, too.
Everyone was definitely more than pleased with their selections, and we would all definitely recommend this place to anyone heading down this way!

Now, unfortunately, the week has come to a close and we’re about to hit the road.
No more Coronas on the beach…
No more excuses to eat ice cream everyday… (well, that could be argued, but still…)
I’m gonna go ahead and whine a little…I’m not ready to leave!
But hey, such is life.
It was a great vacation, with great weather, spent with great friends. And now, I suppose I can be ready to go back home…
I have somebody verrrry special waiting for me.
See ya from New York!!

I’d say ice cream lunch is more necessary when you’re in NY. Without a beach, you gotta find something else to look forward to! ;)

Wow grilled pb and j – what a great idea! You know what else would be good? Grill PB, bananas and honey. mmmmmmmm, sounds like the perfect midnight snack. Hope the cat didn’t raid that liquor cabinet too hard ;-)

Katie! I was SO bummed we never made it there…we passed it a bunch of times, but we were usually already full from something else (ahem, ice cream…) ;)
Next time, I’ll definitely be stopping in!
