This past weekend was somewhat uneventful. For the first time in (what seems like) a while, we really didn’t have any plans outside of house stuff going on.
It was nice! No makeup and no hair washing for two days can always feel somewhat refreshing (in an odd way…anyone else?), along with not having anywhere we really needed to be.
In turn, I really didn’t wind up taking too many photos this weekend since there really wasn’t a whole lot to share! But here’s some of what I did manage to capture…
Some delicious Saturday morning pancakes (Kodiak Cakes) and coffee.
Eaten along with my buddy, who loves his pancakes just as much as I do.
On Saturday afternoon/evening, we traveled over to my parents’ house to pick up an old twin sized bed for Lucas’s room (here’s hoping he’ll actually sleep in it eventually once we have it up?!). We ended up staying a little longer and my dad went and picked up some pizza and wings for all of us for dinner.
On Sunday morning, I took care of the weekly grocery shopping while Jay made an obligatory weekend trip to Home Depot. I prepped some salad bases for the two of us shortly after we got back, along with some other prep for the week ahead.
Jay’s salads are super easy, if you didn’t already notice.
And while I prepped, Lucas sat with me and watched an episode of Paw Patrol while eating some lunch.
Shortly after he went down for nap time, it was time to get to work on a little DIY project that I decided I wanted to do on Saturday…picture ledges!
I found these plans on Ana White (AMAZING site, by the way!) and they seemed fairly easy…with Jay’s help of course. So Jay picked up the supplies we needed that morning, and then the two of us worked together to get them put together during nap time.
I will say that these were totally easy with having Jay’s help. I probably would have totally screwed them up if I attempted them all on my own, but he helped walk me through all of the drilling and it was actually a lot of fun!
We have a 6’ and a 3’ ledge that we’re planning on putting in our living room, and now all we have to do is sand and stain them. I’ll be sure to share them once they’re all done and up on the wall, but I’ll tell you what…I’m now totally obsessed with them and may wind up building more of them for the boys’ rooms because I’ve been trying to find some ledges I like. Perfect-o!
And speaking of perfect-o…these cookies I whipped up on Sunday.
I found this recipe on Pinterest and decided they sounded easy enough to make quickly. Sure enough, they were, and OH MY were they incredible. Super soft, full of flavor, AND it only makes 12 cookies so it’s sort of like built-in portion control?
Oh, and I almost forgot! We had our friends Joe and Kate over on Friday night, along with their little girl, Samantha. We all had a great time catching up and the kiddos had a blast, too.
We kept joking about how much our Friday evening get-togethers have changed over the years. What used to be nights out at bars or at home drinking along to Jersey Shore episodes (oh, memories!), have now evolved into low-key and boozeless (obvi, for me) evenings spending at least half of the time focused on the little ones.
But hey, I think I’ll take it. Even though I’m still totally ready for the booze in small doses in a few months.
So here’s to hoping to a great week ahead! What’s on the agenda for everyone?! Any fun plans?

I recently had a similar moment when I thought about how my girlfriends and I used to go to happy hour, now we have kid play dates. Oh have times changed. I’m looking forward to a short week!

Happy Monday. I love a weekend I can hang out sans make-up, my hair in a ponytail. Looks like you had a busy weekend and accomplished a lot. I find salad prep saves so much time!

In my opinion, weekends without makeup are the best kinds of weekends. Glad to hear you enjoyed some time to relax!

Can’t wait to see those picture ledges in your house! And I agree, times have changed! Our weekends are so much different than they were – but I wouldn’t have it any other way :)

Hey, thanks Jessica! I wish I knew the color…I’m sorry! I think it may have had the name chocolate in it?? If I happen to come across it I’ll let you know though!

Thanks Courtney, I searched on your blog in previous posts, and in one you said it was called Fantasy Brown, and when I googled that it looked super close. So Thank you!!
