Talk about a BLAST of a day!
Brian, Mal, Jeff, Sarah, Me, and Jay spent our entire afternoon boozin’ it up at Oktobeerfest. The event was really nicely organized, it was a perfect day for it, the crowd was hopin’, and there was plenty of beer to go around.
One of the coolest aspects, right from the get-go, was that we got these awesome mugs to be able to cart around with us all day long, rather than continually using plastic cups. It was great then, and will be great many times down the road, I’m sure.
Once we got ourselves checked in and had mugs in hand, it was time to scope out the scene.
The event was held at Ellms Family Farm in Ballston Spa, which none of us had ever been to. It’s definitely a nice spot, and I made a few mental notes to try to make it back for Halloween Hayrides and the Corn Maze.
There were five different beer stations set up throughout the farm, so our crew started off by heading to the closest one.
As soon as I saw pumpkin beer on tap, I went for it. I wish I knew what the names of the beers were that I tried today, but unfortunately, it was hard to tell since they weren’t labeled very well. It may have been called Pumking??
All I know is that it was good.
One of the other things that we liked was how you could use the drink tickets you buy for either a full mug (2 tickets), or a sample, half mug (1 ticket).
More times than not, the person pouring was very generous with their sample size, which we certainly weren’t complaining about!
Our group spent a good portion of the day chatting, laughing our faces off, sampling each others’ beers, and just having an absolutely awesome time.
There was even live music for a majority of the day, which definitely added to the theme of the event.
Some of us were actually really enjoying that live music.
The couples…
Sarah & Jeff
Brian & Mal
Ummm, yeah, whoever they are?
The event also had some awesome looking and smelling food which a few of us ended up grabbing mid-day.
Tell me that is not one amazing-looking piece of heaven, right?!? A German Chocolate Brownie which, let me tell you, definitely tasted like it fell from the heavens. So, so good!
The rest of the day carried on, with plenty more laughs and of course, some shenanigans.
By the way, did you guys know that today is officially halfway to St. Patrick’s Day? No wonder there was shenanigans…we love to have a good time on St. Patty’s Day, so of course we’d celebrate on half St. Patrick’s day (sort of like a half birthday?)
There were shoes missing…
Slides to slide down…
Plenty of “CHEERS” to go around…
Nonstop laughter…
And tons of fun with some awesome friends.
I my friends.
(Thank you so much to A.J., from Saratoga Festivals for providing the tickets for the event. It was an amazing day!)

The Imperial Pumking is made by Southern Tier Brewing Co. and it’s one of our favorites. Smells and tastes just like pumpkin pie. We have some from the beer sampler we just did with our friends. Looks like a great time! :-)

Courtney! I just made your banana pumpkin bread it was absolutely amazing! I made some changes because I had to use what I had but it was still amazing. Great Harvest has nothing on this banana pumpkin chocolate chip bread.
My substitutions:
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup vanilla agave (its what I had)
1/4 cup coconut oil
then carob chips instead of raisins. My husband is crazy and doesn’t like raisins
Seriously you are amazing!
Courtney says
That sounds amazing! I need to try the carob chips!

Also, I have to ask, did you get the cookies and workout in before heading out the door? I always have a million things to do before I leave, but I love it when they actually all get done haha (the workout usually doesnt happen)
Courtney says
I got the bag at Kohls about a month ago and love it!
And YES! I got the cookies baked and squeezed in a workout via Jillian Michaels on Exercise on Demand. I was impressed with myself ;)
