Happy What I Ate Wednesday! I’m so happy that I successfully made it through my super long day yesterday. Wooo baby, was it quite a long day. But even though it was long, it was still pretty fun…
5:30am – Pre-Workout Snack
The day started nice and early so I’d have time to squeeze in my own workout for the day (if I didn’t do it early, it wasn’t happening at all). I don’t typically bother to mention my pre-workout snack, but it’s almost always a Clif Z Bar.
The half of banana was saved and actually eaten in between a couple of my clients early this morning. Thank goodness I had it with me because breakfast didn’t get eaten until later and I was hungry.
10:15am – Breakfast
The nectarine was definitely a nice change of pace from the typical strawberries and paired awesome with the blueberries.
I brought today’s breakfast with me to work but actually ate it at Starbucks after my shift was over.
While I was there I also got myself a regular coffee to sip on (blonde roast), and spent a little bit of time going through emails before I had to head to my next event for the day…
I know I teased you all a bit with this yesterday, so now let me finally fill ya in!
A couple of weeks ago, I got an email from a local reader who I actually knew from when I was in high school. I had no idea that she was a regular blog reader, but as it turns out, she’s been reading for quite some time (Hi, Nicole!) and wanted to pick my brain about something.
Nicole is a teacher, at my old high school no less(!), and teaches a class on Mass Media. When Nicole contacted me, she said that her class was going to be coming up on the topic of social media and blogging, and asked me if I’d be interested in coming to speak to her high school seniors about blogging.
At first, I was like, “SAY WHAT?!?”
I mean, sure, I know I used to get up and stand in front of a classroom full of kids every day, but they were 10…and a lot less scary than an auditorium full of high school seniors. Yeah…public speaking is not exactly my forte, if ya know what I mean.
But despite the fact that I was beyond nervous about it, I was even more excited, and I immediately told Nicole that I’d love to help out in any way that I could.
My nerves were definitely through the roof all morning, but once I got settled into the auditorium and got my PowerPoint set up (had to take the attention away from me as much as possible!), I actually started to feel much more at ease.
The kids were all pretty great (sure, some of them were texting and talking, but I can handle that) and I was even able to get them to ask some questions toward the end as well. Between my mini presentation + Q&A’s, I actually used up the entire period, which completely shocked me. I thought for sure I would have raced through everything in about 5 seconds flat.
But then again, blogging is something that I could seriously talk about all.day.long, so I had plenty of topics to keep the conversation flowing. I mean I’m certainly no expert on blogging or social media, and I still have plenty to learn; but I was more than happy to share the knowledge that I had with today’s youth.
Hopefully they got at least something out of it.
1:30 – Lunch
By the time I got home from my presentation at my old stompin’ grounds, it was time for some lunch.
Today’s choice was an egg scramble made with black beans, spinach, and tomatoes, topped with lots of lovely ketchup. I also had a couple pineapple slices for a little added sweetness…
…and about a serving of Kashi crackers.
4:00pm – Mid-Afternoon Snack
A banana flavored SOYJOY bar.
6:30pm – Dinner
Thank goodness I had a long enough break at work tonight to have some dinner because I was not only prepared, but I was suuuuper hungry.
Before leaving home this afternoon, I put together this random assortment: leftover quinoa, black beans, chicken (my half from Monday night), pineapple chunks, and feta cheese.
I know, totally random, right? And then I took it up a level and topped it with some of my favorite pineapple salsa.
It was alright…nothing to rave about. But I did learn that black beans at two meals in a row is not in my best interest. Ooof.
8:45pm – Evening Snack
It’s a recycled photo (I was spent by this point of the day) but the evening snack of choice was a CranBran VitaTop, topped with peanut butter.
And then I also had a few too many jelly beans.
Hey, whatever…it is what it is. It was a crazy day, so I’m not overly concerned about it. Besides, it’s almost Easter…I think the Easter Bunny would approve.
Question for the Morning:
If you were told you had to give a presentation to a group of high school seniors, what topic would you be most comfortable talking about?
