Did you guys know that September is National Honey Month?
Honey is not only a great natural sweetener, but it’s also loaded with tons of benefits that many people don’t know about. Honey can be a natural throat soother, it can be incorporated into your skin/beauty routine, it can provide quick bursts of energy with its natural sweeteners, and most importantly, it tastes delicious, too.
So today, I’ve got 8 fun ways for you to try incorporating honey into your daily or weekly routine. I have a feeling that all of you will be able to find at least one or two things that you’d enjoy!
Make honey butter. This is probably one of the most amazing things on the planet – especially when you pair it with cornbread.
Use it in place of sugar. Honey is sweeter and denser, and also contains small amounts of vitamins and minerals. It is slightly higher in calories, but you’ll probably end up using less of it.
Make your own homemade lip balm. How cool is that?!
Eat it with goat cheese. This pairing is absolutely incredible, and it makes a super quick and simple snack that you can throw together in no time. Check out this recipe or this one for inspiration!
Clean your cuts and scrapes. Did you know that honey can be used as an antiseptic? It has many antimicrobial properties, so it can be used to treat wounds and burns.
Use it to soothe a sore throat, like in the Ricola® Dual Action Honey Lemon drops.
While the dual action drops aren’t new, the Honey Lemon flavor is, and they’re set to be out in stores this October.
They’ve got the Ricola signature blend of Chrüterchraft, natural menthol, and soothing honey lemon syrup center, to provide natural relief for cough and sore throats.
Create your own exfoliator scrub. Check out this recipe, which sounds both simple and awesome. I’d be willing to bet you’ll smell delicious.
Get your hair nice and shiny. After you wash your, coat the ends with a little bit of honey and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing out. Or add one teaspoon honey to a quart of water, and after washing your hair, pour the mixture over your head. Let it dry and check out your shiny new locks!

Honey in tea and as part of a recipe are my two favorite ways to use it. I love the smell of honey as well. Three cheers for National Honey Month! :)
I LOVE honey! I don’t use a ton of it but I really like a little bit in my tea when I have a sore throat or used to sweeten my baking in a more natural way.
I always use honey when cooking – usually as a substitute for sugar. It gives the food a much richer taste (in my opinion). Interesting that you can use it to help your hair appear shiny… I’m going to have to try this out!
Honey has always played a significant part of my fiance, Wade, and I’s love story because it’s the only “pet name” we call each other–Honey. And we both LOVE honey. On cornbread, on tortillas, in tea…you name it. We are going to have wedding favors that are little jars of honey. :)
Honey and goat cheese is so tasty! I’ve been doing some pre-fall cleaning and it’s time to make sure we are stocked up for cold and flu season.
Raw organic honey has transformed by skin..I’ve always dealt with blemishes and uneven skin tone and it’s completely improved it. I cleanse with it twice a day and when I have extra few minutes in the shower I keep it on my face as a mask. Try it!!
