Since letting it be known that we’ve temporarily moved in with friends of ours, it’s kind of funny to hear some of the feedback I receive. I think the most frequently heard response is something along the lines of “hopefully you’re still friends at the end of it all!” which sort of makes me chuckle. Maybe I’m just easygoing, I don’t know…but I cannot foresee any reason why we would ever have a problem with our current roomies. They so generously opened up their home to us, they’re such great people, and we all get along really, really well.
Another response I hear quite often when I tell people about our living situation is something like, “Oh man, what’s it like having NO personal space?” Now, granted, living with others is certainly not like living in the privacy of your own home. But I’ve gotta say…we really have no problems in terms of privacy and maintaining some personal space!
Because things are usually hustling and bustling when we’re all around in the house, it’s definitely nice to be able to take some time just for me and relax in some peace and quiet…and I’ve been doing just that! On any given day, I typically have two opportunities to make this happen: during Lucas’s nap (on weekends), or immediately after I put Lucas to bed.
One of my favorite times for some quiet “me” time is right after I put Lucas to bed. I usually have some sort of work or blog work to do after his bedtime every night, but before I get started on that, I like to take 10-20 minutes and just…be.
Our friends have a great back porch area that’s perfect for lounging, watching TV, or just taking in the outdoor scenery.
And it’s also my favorite time to indulge in a little dessert. Because you guys knooooow I love some dessert every night!
Lately, Jay and I have totally been into these new ice cream bars from Skinny Cow. We picked up both the Vanilla Almond Crunch and Double Caramel Swirl flavors, and both of them have been rocking my world.
The caramel one, especially…be still, my heart!
I’ve been a fan of the Skinny Cow products for a while now (do you remember when I went glamping with them last year??? Umm, Best. Trip. EVER!), but was so excited when I discovered these. I really think it’s safe to say they’re now my favorite product of theirs.
And while it’s no secret that I love dessert, Skinny Cow’s “What’s Your Secret” campaign wants to know what your secret is! Are you taking the long way home from work? Declining a dinner invite so you can catch up on a favorite show? Maybe putting the kids to bed an hour early for some “me” time? Whatever it is, Skinny Cow wants to know how you manage to make time for yourself even on the busiest days.
AND, if you get on Twitter and direct message your Skinny Cow Secret to @TheSkinnyCow with the hashtag #SkinnyCowSecret, you’ll be able to score a sweet treat (you can check out more details on that HERE)! So for all of my fellow sweet toothers out there (I think I just made that one up…), go get on that. Because you’re definitely gonna want to give these a try!
Oh, and FYI…on the days/evenings when I need another kind of chocolate fix (hello, PMS!), the Skinny Cow Divine Filled Chocolates are another solid pick.
I mean, again with the caramel…
Yes, pleeeeeease.
It’s a winner in my book!
Plus, word on the street is that they have a new product line on the shelves…Creamy Iced Coffee. Apparently it comes in three flavors: Vanilla Latte, Mocha Latte & Creamy Cappuccino, and they all sound incredibly decadent. I’ve gotta find them ASAP! But until then, I’ll just be over here enjoying my quiet time with my ice cream bars.

So glad to hear things have been so easy living with friends! I think it definitely depends on the living situation and the personalities of everyone. When we lived with my in-laws last year for a couple months, I really struggled. Mostly because we didn’t have a lot of space and whenever I did try to take a little “me time” by resorting to our bedroom for a bit or going on a walk, my in-laws took it personally that I didn’t want to hang out with them 24/7. But, we all survived and I am still incredibly thankful that they opened their home to us. :)
As for these Skinny Cow desserts, they sound fantastic! I’m especially intrigued by their new line of iced coffee. Need to find that stat!

Haha, that was one of our biggest concerns about living with parents! Overall, it’s just been really easy with them – plus Lucas has a play buddy! :)

I absolutely LOVE the Skinny Cow vanilla almond crunch bars! They are delicious!

SO good, right?! If you haven’t tried the caramel swirl yet, you MUST. I like them even better than the vanilla almond crunch!

I LOVED the skinny cow cones before I found out I had a wheat allergy :/ Those bars look like they might be gluten free though, I’ll have to check them out! I think I remember being okay with the Pink Velvet bars, but it’s been awhile.

Who does not like free ice cream and being paid to eat it ? ;-)

I still eat it regardless ;-)
