Well, hello there! For many of you, I should probably give you a nice “welcome back” this morning, since I’m sure many of you were (hopefully) away from your computers and enjoying the holiday weekend. For all of my fellow Thanksgiving celebrators, I hope you all had a wonderful Turkey day; and for my non-Thanksgiving celebrators, I hope you had a wonderful weekend too!
In case you were away for the long weekend, here’s a few updates that you may have missed:
- Things Accomplished Today
- Waffle Heaven
- Giveaway Round Up <—*still haven’t heard from the Stella & Dot winner!!*
- House Projects on Black Friday
- Thanksgiving 2012
So today has already been a pretty busy one. Last night we had to drop my car off for an oil change, tire rotation, and all that jazz, so I’m without a car today. Typically, this would be no big deal, but since I have to go out again later this morning, I wound up having to drive Jay into work.
The reason I have to go out later this morning though, is for the fur ball.
And I’m pretty sure he already knows what’s comin’ since it’s out on the kitchen floor…
Yep. We’re headed back to the vet today and I have been dreading it all morning long because if it’s anything like last time, there will be tears…and they won’t only be Cody’s. I am such a baby, I know.
I begged and pleaded with Jay last night to take him because I reeeeeeeally did not want to go alone again, so (being the wonderful husband that he is) he was able to arrange it to come with me this morning. This means I’ll only have about a 15 minute drive alone with Codester in the car, but it also means I still have to attempt to get him in the stupid carrier. Wish me luck, my friends.
So now I’m back home here with just enough time to make and eat breakfast and write up this post before heading back out the door.
I had my coffee waiting for me when I got back, so I prepared that while I quickly toasted a couple of waffles for breakfast – one with PB & banana, the other with PB & J.
I don’t know what it was, but they tasted soooooo good today.

Oh boy…looks like it’s about time to go round up the Codester. Let’s hope all goes well (not only for me, but for him too)!
Question for the Morning:
What was the best part of your (holiday) weekend?
Good luck today! Best part of my weekend was attending a friend’s wedding where there was a special appearance by …wait for it… Akon!
The best part of my weekend was cooking Thanksgiving for my family and spending time with them :)
Awww poor Cody!! I hate taking my cat to the vet too. You’re not alone :)
The best part of my weekend was going to the Brown’s game and watching them beat Pittsburgh for the 2nd time in 9 years!!
Court I feel you. I hate taking our pups to the vet too. I’m glad Jay can go with you this time though! I hope all goes well and little Codester is a-okay!
Best part of my holiday weekend was being with my family! The delicious food was pretty great too. ;)
Good luck, Courtney! I know taking my pup to the vet is always an experience so I understand!
Oh no Good Luck Court! You can do it!
I definitely don’t miss trying to help my mom get our cats into the carriers — it’s the worst! Good luck today!
I remember my mom trying to get our cats in the car when I was younger and it was never a pretty scene. Good luck with Cody!!!
Good luck at the vet! Our dog used to know where he was going as soon as we turned into the vet’s parking lot. It’s amazing how smart they are when they want to be.
Ah! Good luck this morning with Cody. The best part of my weekend was doing lots of cooking, baking, and taste-testing. :)
Watching other people cry makes me cry, so I bet taking a pet to the vet would be no different. Aka I totally get why you’d be a baby about it.
My favorite part of the weekend was probably signing up for my first marathon last night!! Hanging out with the family and cooking was also amazing, but the marathon registration was a bit significant for me. So. Pumped.
when i have to get my cat into his carrier i usually bring it into the bathroom (small space so he has nowhere to hide) and then grab him by the skin around the neck since it paralyzes him and i get him in easier. not a fun task. :-( good luck at the vet with cody!
Best part of the weekend was dying my hair!
Eep! I hope everything goes well with Cody! I definitely know what you mean about having a hard-as-heck time with taking an animal to the vet. I hate dealing with it with my dog, and I’d imagine that trying to get a cat in a carrier would be an even worse ordeal. Good luck!
awww poor Cody! Good luck to both of you :D
Good luck getting Cody in the carrier…my cat always puts up quite a fight and whines when he is finally in it. The best part of my weekend was being able to spend some quality time with my family for the first time since August (and a break from college).
I’ll happily take the Stella and Dot giveaway off of yours hands if she doesn’t come forward! You could just roll it in together with the personalized tree print giveaway ;-)
Good luck with Cody!
The best part of my weekend was getting Christmas decorations up and going to a Christmas show! Good luck with Cody today!
My dog hatessssssssssssssss the car. Literally it is such a project trying to get him to go in the car and once he is in he has so much anxiety. I feel so bad! Hope everything works out at the vet!
Aw – good luck with everything at the vet! I know that is never fun, especially when its for more than a well-visit.
In case you needed a pick-me-up, I saw this and jumped all over it. I thought you might be interested also :) http://www.groupon.com/deals/peanut-butter-and-company?p=3&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&sid=91d510a4-33d6-4e9b-88cd-bd606ff0685c&division=new-york&user=a90e2ec3e29c480dad6eef6e0f48b3d2bd491cd0d807101d80db4af9ac2c151f&date=20121126&s=body&c=deal_button&d=deal-page&utm_campaign=peanut-butter-and-company
Awwwww MAN!! I was just about to purchase it until I saw that it was only available at the location listed…and as much as I love me some peanut butter, I don’t think I’ll make a trip down to the city just for that. ;)
Thanks for letting me know though! Enjoy yours for me :)
Oh, I totally didn’t realize that it was for the store location only. I just assumed you could buy it online. Woops – sorry for the tease! :)
I am a major baby when it comes to taking my dogs to the vet. I just cannot do it!
I had a delicious waffle creation for breakfast, too. I made a waffle-which with two waffles (one with pumpkin butter and one with blackberry jam) with a sunny-side up egg in between them. The sweet and savory combo was SOOO good!
The best part of the weekend was spending time with the family and not having to worry about “work.” Good luck with the Kitty!!! :)
Good luck at the vet! Vet trips are the worst. I had to drop my puppy off at the groomers this morning and it is always so sad :( Hopefully your vet trip will be over sooner than you know it!
Good luck at the vet today!
The best part of my weekend was the food on Thanksgiving, of course. :)
I hate bringing my cats to the vet too :( Their little cries make my heart hurt. The second they hear us bring up the cage from downstairs, they bolt and hide. It’s traumatizing for everyone involved.
Good luck at the vet. I had my car being serviced yesterday too- it’s amazing how much of an inconvenience it can be not having a car!
I know you already took Cody to the vet yesterday and someone might have mentioned this in the comments above but the best and easiest way to get a cat into a carrier is to grab them by the scruff (skin on the back of the neck). It makes them go limp and if you stand your carrier on end with the opening towards the ceiling you should be able to simply stuff his back legs in first, then his body, and smush his front legs in while simultaneously closing the lid. This is the method I use every time I have to put my cat in his carrier and once I catch him (he runs whenever I bring the carrier from the closet) it works like a charm.
