Dreading It All Morning

By Courtney 29 Comments

Well, hello there! For many of you, I should probably give you a nice “welcome back” this morning, since I’m sure many of you were (hopefully) away from your computers and enjoying the holiday weekend. For all of my fellow Thanksgiving celebrators, I hope you all had a wonderful Turkey day; and for my non-Thanksgiving celebrators, I hope you had a wonderful weekend too!

In case you were away for the long weekend, here’s a few updates that you may have missed:

  • Things Accomplished Today
  • Waffle Heaven
  • Giveaway Round Up <—*still haven’t heard from the Stella & Dot winner!!*
  • House Projects on Black Friday
  • Thanksgiving 2012

So today has already been a pretty busy one. Last night we had to drop my car off for an oil change, tire rotation, and all that jazz, so I’m without a car today. Typically, this would be no big deal, but since I have to go out again later this morning, I wound up having to drive Jay into work.

The reason I have to go out later this morning though, is for the fur ball.

cody

And I’m pretty sure he already knows what’s comin’ since it’s out on the kitchen floor…

Yep. We’re headed back to the vet today and I have been dreading it all morning long because if it’s anything like last time, there will be tears…and they won’t only be Cody’s. I am such a baby, I know.

I begged and pleaded with Jay last night to take him because I reeeeeeeally did not want to go alone again, so (being the wonderful husband that he is) he was able to arrange it to come with me this morning. This means I’ll only have about a 15 minute drive alone with Codester in the car, but it also means I still have to attempt to get him in the stupid carrier. Wish me luck, my friends.

So now I’m back home here with just enough time to make and eat breakfast and write up this post before heading back out the door.

IMG_8885

I had my coffee waiting for me when I got back, so I prepared that while I quickly toasted a couple of waffles for breakfast – one with PB & banana, the other with PB & J.

IMG_8887

I don’t know what it was, but they tasted soooooo good today.

*****

Oh boy…looks like it’s about time to go round up the Codester. Let’s hope all goes well (not only for me, but for him too)!

Question for the Morning:

What was the best part of your (holiday) weekend?

Good luck at the vet! Our dog used to know where he was going as soon as we turned into the vet's parking lot. It's amazing how smart they are when they want to be.

Watching other people cry makes me cry, so I bet taking a pet to the vet would be no different. Aka I totally get why you'd be a baby about it. My favorite part of the weekend was probably signing up for my first marathon last night!! Hanging out with the family and cooking was also amazing, but the marathon registration was a bit significant for me. So. Pumped.

when i have to get my cat into his carrier i usually bring it into the bathroom (small space so he has nowhere to hide) and then grab him by the skin around the neck since it paralyzes him and i get him in easier. not a fun task. :-( good luck at the vet with cody!

Eep! I hope everything goes well with Cody! I definitely know what you mean about having a hard-as-heck time with taking an animal to the vet. I hate dealing with it with my dog, and I'd imagine that trying to get a cat in a carrier would be an even worse ordeal. Good luck!

Good luck getting Cody in the carrier...my cat always puts up quite a fight and whines when he is finally in it. The best part of my weekend was being able to spend some quality time with my family for the first time since August (and a break from college).

Aw - good luck with everything at the vet! I know that is never fun, especially when its for more than a well-visit. In case you needed a pick-me-up, I saw this and jumped all over it. Awwwww MAN!! I was just about to purchase it until I saw that it was only available at the location listed...and as much as I love me some peanut butter, I don't think I'll make a trip down to the city just for that. ;) Thanks for letting me know though! Enjoy yours for me :)

I am a major baby when it comes to taking my dogs to the vet. I just cannot do it! I had a delicious waffle creation for breakfast, too. I made a waffle-which with two waffles (one with pumpkin butter and one with blackberry jam) with a sunny-side up egg in between them. The sweet and savory combo was SOOO good!

I hate bringing my cats to the vet too :( Their little cries make my heart hurt. The second they hear us bring up the cage from downstairs, they bolt and hide. It's traumatizing for everyone involved.

I know you already took Cody to the vet yesterday and someone might have mentioned this in the comments above but the best and easiest way to get a cat into a carrier is to grab them by the scruff (skin on the back of the neck). It makes them go limp and if you stand your carrier on end with the opening towards the ceiling you should be able to simply stuff his back legs in first, then his body, and smush his front legs in while simultaneously closing the lid. This is the method I use every time I have to put my cat in his carrier and once I catch him (he runs whenever I bring the carrier from the closet) it works like a charm.
